[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 102

Ayat 102. Say (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought it (the Qur'an) down from your Lord with truth, that it may make firm and strengthen (the Faith of) those who believe and as a guidance and glad tidings to those who have submitted (to Allah as Muslims).

Hazrat Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said to Jibril (Gabriel), "What prevents you from visiting us more frequently?'' Thereupon was revealed the Ayah: "(The angels say:) `And we (angels) descend not except by the Command of your Rubb. To Him belongs what is before us and what is behind us, and what is between those two". (19:64)
[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 255].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 102.Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought it (the Qur'an) down from your Lord with truth,This Hadith tells us about the Prophet's desire for meeting angel Jibril (Gabriel) to have that knowledge which was revealed to him by means of Wahy (Revelation). It also tells us that angels descend to earth for certain mission by the Command of Allah. They have no say of their own in any matter. It also indicates that it is permissible to enquire about Muslim brothers after a long period of time as this is a sign of true love.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 101

Ayat 101. And when We change a Verse [of the Qur'an, i.e. cancel (abrogate) its order] in place of another, and Allah knows the best of what He sends down, they (the disbelievers) say: "You (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH)} are but a Muftari! (forger, liar)." Nay, but most of them know not.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The one who was devoted to the the Qur'an will be told on the Day of Resurrection: `Recite and ascend (in ranks) as you used to recite when you were in the world. Your rank will be at the last Ayah you recite.'''
[Abu Dawud Hadith # 1464 and At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2914].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 101.Nay, but most of them know not. This Hadith mentions the merit of those who commit the Qur'an (whole or part thereof) to memory (Huffaz). The word `ascend' here means to rise in ranks in the Jannah. The more one remembers the Qur'an, the more clear and distinct is his recitation of it, the higher would be the status that he will go on attaining through its blessings. Thus, this Hadith provides inducement for the remembrance of the Qur'an and tells us that its frequent recitation is a means to attain higher ranks in Jannah.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 98-100

Ayat 98. So when you want to recite the Qur'an, seek refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast (the cursed one).
Ayat 99. Verily! He has no power over those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah).
Ayat 100. His power is only over those who obey and follow him (Satan), and those who join partners with Him (Allah) [i.e. those who are Mushrikûn - polytheists
Hazrat Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who does not memorize any part from the Qur'an he is like the ruined house.''  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2913].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 99.those who believe and put their trust only in their Lord (Allah). This Hadith means that the heart of that Muslim is devoid of grace of spiritualism and Grace of Allah who does not remember by heart any portion of the Qur'an, in the same way as a deserted house is deprived of inhabitants and Blessings of Allah. What we learn from this is that every Muslim must remember some portion of the Qur'an so that he is safe from the admonition mentioned in this Hadith.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 97

Ayat 97. Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him We will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter).

Hazrat Al-Mustaurad bin Shaddad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "This world (i.e., its pleasures and duration) in comparison with the Hereafter is (similar to the amount of water) one gets when he puts his finger in the sea. Let him then see what it returns with".
[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 14, Hadith # 6843].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 97.and We shall pay them certainly a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do (i.e. Paradise in the Hereafter). This Hadith shows the value of the Hereafter and its blessings compared to the worldly life. The proportion between the two is that the former is like an ocean while the latter is like the proportion of water left on one's finger when dipped in the sea!.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 95-96

Ayat 95. And purchase not a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant. Verily! What is with Allah is better for you if you did but know.
Ayat 96. Whatever is with you, will be exhausted, and whatever with Allah (of good deeds) will remain. And those who are patient, We will certainly pay them a reward in proportion to the best of what they used to do .

Hazrat Abu Dharr and Mu`adh bin Jabal (May Allah be pleased with them) reported that: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Fear Allah wherever you are, do good deeds after doing bad ones, the former will wipe out the latter, and behave decently towards people" [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 1987].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 95.Verily! What is with Allah is better for you if you did but know. Virtue obliterates vice means that virtue becomes an atonement for sin. But this applies to minor sins only because major ones will not be forgiven without sincere repentance. Similar is the case of encroachment on public rights which will not be forgiven without their compensation.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 94

Ayat 94. And make not your oaths, a means of deception among yourselves, lest a foot may slip after being firmly planted, and you may have to taste the evil (punishment in this world) of having hindered (men) from the Path of Allah (i.e. Belief in the Oneness of Allah and His Messenger, Muhammad ), and yours will be a great torment (i.e. the Fire of Hell in the Hereafter).

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect, and if anyone invites others to follow error, the sin, will be equivalent to that of the people who follow him (in sinfulness) without their sins being diminished in any respect". [Muslim Book 08, Chapter 44, Hadith # 6470].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 94. and you may have to taste the evil (punishment in this world) of having hindered (men) from the Path of Allah. "Invitation" and `Call' stand to mean here that someone induces others to virtue or seduces to sin by means of his speech or action. We come to know from this Hadith that one who becomes a medium for either of them is given a reward or punishment respectively by Allah (SWT).

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 93

Ayat 93. And had Allah willed, He could have made you (all) one nation, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. But you shall certainly be called to account for what you used to do.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) recited the Words of Allah, the Exalted, and the Glorious, about Ibrahim (PBUH) who said: "O my Rubb! They have led astray many among mankind. But whosoever follows me, he verily, is of me". (14:36) and those of `Isa (Jesus) (PBUH) who said: "If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You forgive them, verily, You, only You, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise". (5:118). Then he [SAWW](PBUH) raised up his hands and said, "O Allah! My Ummah, my Ummah,'' and wept; Allah, the Exalted, said: "O Jibril (Gabriel)! Go to Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) and ask him: `What makes you weep?" So Jibril came to him and asked him (the reason of his weeping) and the Messenger of Allah informed him what he had said (though Allah knew it well). Upon this Allah said: "Jibril, go to Muhammad   [SAWW](PBUH) and say: `Verily, We will please you with regard to your Ummah and will never displease you".
[Muslim Book 09, Chapter 84, Hadith # 63].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 93. He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. This Hadith makes two points clear: Firstly, the kindness and mercy which the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) had for his Ummah, a full manifestation of which will be seen on the Day of Resurrection. Secondly, the love that Allah has for His Prophet, Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH). Both these benefits will then go to the advantage of the faithful Muslims as they will be then blessed with Mercy and forgiveness of Allah. May Allah include us among them.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] : Ayat 92

Ayat 92. And be not like her who undoes the thread which she has spun after it has become strong, by taking your oaths a means of deception among yourselves, lest a nation may be more numerous than another nation. Allah only tests you by this [i.e who obeys Allah and fulfills Allah's Covenant and who disobeys Allah and breaks Allah's Covenant]. And on the Day of Resurrection, He will certainly make clear to you that wherein you used to differ [i.e. a believer confesses and believes in the Oneness of Allah and in the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) which the disbeliever denies it and that was their difference amongst them in the life of this world] .

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) said: You indulge in (bad) actions which are more insignificant to you than a hair while we considered them at the time of Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) to be great destroying sins".
[Al-Bukhari 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 499].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 92.by taking your oaths a means of deception among yourselves". The less fear of Allah, one has the more disobedient he becomes to Him. As the fear of Allah decreases, one becomes more bold in committing sins. As the Companions of the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) were intensely fearful of Allah, they were afraid of committing even very minor sins.

[16].Surah An-Nahl [The Bees] :Ayat 91

Ayat 91. And fulfill the Covenant of Allah (Bai'a: pledge for Islam) when you have covenanted, and break not the oaths after you have confirmed them, and indeed you have appointed Allah your surety. Verily! Allah knows what you do.

Hazrat Abu Said Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Every one who breaks a covenant will have a flag by his buttocks on the Day of Resurrection. It will be raised higher according to the nature of his breach. Behold, there will be no greater a sin with respect to breaking the covenant than that of a ruler who breaks his covenant with the Muslim masses.''
[Muslim Book 04, Chapter 19, Hadith # 4903].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah An-Nahl Ayat 91.And fulfill the Covenant of Allah. This Hadith clearly shows that breach of covenant is forbidden in Islam, especially on the part of a ruler because (a) he is in a position to honour his covenant, and (b) his evil can affect the whole Muslim community. It was a custom in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance in Arabia to fix flags on poles for those who were guilty of breach of oath to humiliate and defame them. Almighty Allah has mentioned the punishment of flags on the Day of Resurrection for such people who break their covenant so that people can easily understand its nature. What a humiliation that will be!
* Placing the flag by his bottom signifies humiliation and disgrace because flags are usually carried in front of the bearer not behind. (Editor's Note)
