[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 012

Ayat 12. O you who believe! When you (want to) consult the Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation. That will be better and purer for you. But if you find not (the means for it), then verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 12. O ye who believe! When ye consult the Messenger in private, spend something in charity before your private consultation. That will be best for you, and most conducive to purity (of conduct). But if ye find not (the wherewithal), Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful. In the Kingdom of Allah all instruction or consultation is open and free. But human nature is weak. And people want special instruction or private consultation with the Teacher from one of several motives: (1) they may have, or think they have, a special case, which they are not willing to disclose to their brethren in general; (2) they may have some sense of delicacy or dignity, which can only be satisfied by a private interview; (3) they may even be selfish enough to want to monopolize the Teacher's time. These motives are, in an ascending order, worth discouraging; and yet, considering the weakness of human nature, they cannot be reprobated to the extent of shutting out their victims from chances of improvement. It is therefore recommended that they spend something in charity for the good of their poorer brethren before they indulge in such weaknesses. The charity is a sort of expiation for their pardonable weakness. Having made some monetary sacrifice for their poorer brethren they could face them with less shame, and the charity would direct their attention to the need for purifying their motives and conduct At the same time, this special charity is not made obligatory, lest such persons should be shut out altogether from chances of the higher teaching on account of their pardonable foibles.

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The supplication most often recited by The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D2425F.C807B3C0[SAWW](PBUH) was: "Allahumma atina fid-dunya hasanatan, wa fil-akhirati hasanatan, wa qina `adhab-annar (O our Rubb! give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the punishment of the Fire).'' [Al-Bukhari Book 35, Chapter 09, Hadith # 6507].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 12. Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" It is desirable to recite this Dua which is mentioned in the Qur'an (2:201) and which comprehends all that is good both in this life and the Hereafter. The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D2425F.C807B3C0[SAWW](PBUH) made it a habit to recite this Dua, and the Companions were eager to follow him in all his words and actions.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 011

Ayat 11. O you who believe! When you are told to make room in the assemblies, (spread out and) make room. Allah will give you (ample) room (from His Mercy). And when you are told to rise up [for prayers, Jihad (holy fighting in Allah’s Cause), or for any other good deed], rise up. Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge. And Allah is Well-Acquainted with what you do.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 11. O ye who believe! When ye are told to make room in the assemblies, (spread out and) make room: (ample) room will Allah provide for you. And when ye are told to rise up, rise up Allah will rise up, to (suitable) ranks (and degrees), those of you who believe and who have been granted (mystic) Knowledge. And Allah is well- acquainted with all ye do. Even when a great man or a Leader comes into an Assembly, we are not to press forward without discipline, as it causes inconvenience to him and detriment to public business. Nor are we to shut out other people who have equal rights to be in the Assembly. We must spread out, for Allah's earth is spacious, and so are our opportunities. Rising up is a mark of respect. Just as those who obey soon become worthy of command, so those who honour where honour is due, become themselves worthy of honour, in various degrees according to their capacities. "Rise up" may also here imply: 'when the Assembly is dismissed, do not loiter about'. Faith makes all people equal in the Kingdom of Allah , as regards the essentials of citizenship in the Kingdom. But there is leadership, and rank and degree, joined with greater or less responsibility, and that depends on true knowledge and insight.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "When a group of people assemble for the remembrance of Allah, the angels surround them (with their wings), (Allah's) mercy envelops them, Sakinah, or tranquility descends upon them and Allah makes a mention of them before those who are near Him.''  [Muslim Book 35, Chapter 11, Hadith # 6518].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 11. Allah will exalt in degree those of you who believe, and those who have been granted knowledge." This Hadith also highlights the merits of remembrance of Allah and the high grades of the people indulging in it.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 009

Ayat 9. O you who believe! When you hold secret counsel, do it not for sin and wrong-doing, and disobedience towards the Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) but do it for Al-Birr (righteousness) and Taqwa (virtues and piety); and fear Allah unto Whom you shall be gathered.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 10. Secret counsels are only (inspired) by the Evil One, in order that he may cause grief to the Believers; but he cannot harm them in the least, except as Allah permits; and on Allah let the Believers put their trust. Evil can harm no one who is good, except insofar as (1) there is some question of trial in Allah's Universal Plan, or (2) what appears to be harm may be real good. Nothing happens without Allah's will and permission. And we must always trust Him, and not our cleverness or any adventitious circumstances that draw us the least bit from the path of rectitude.

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D2402F.1C6F9140[SAWW](PBUH) said, "If anyone introduces or does something contrary to our way (i.e., Islam) which does not belong to it, will be rejected". The narration in Muslim says: "If anybody introduces a practice which is not authenticated by me, it is to be rejected".   [Muslim Book 18, Chapter 06, Hadith # 4266]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 09. : do it for Al-Birr (righteousness) and Taqwa (virtues and piety); and fear Allah unto Whom you shall be gathered." This Hadith lays down a very important principle. Unfortunately, Muslims have not attached any importance to this Hadith and the principle given in it with the result that innovations in the Deen have become so common that they have been taken for true Deen; our people act upon them and are made to practice them. One reason for this is their lack of education and ignorance about Deen. The second reason is their lack of understanding of the principle prescribed in this Hadith although it is stated in very explicit terms. The principle that we learn from this Hadith is that every such action or activity is innovation which is done as a virtue and to gain the Pleasure of Allah but is not consonant with the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah, or which does not agree with the interpretation of the Nuss (text) given by the Companions of the Prophet cid:image004.gif@01D2402F.1C6F9140 [SAWW](PBUH) or their successors (Tabi'un). The reason being that the period of the Companions and the Tabi'un is the Khair-ul-Qurun (the best of all generations). Thus any action or activity that is deprived of the support of these generations falls in the category of heresies.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 008

Ayat 8. Have you not seen those who were forbidden to hold secret counsels, and afterwards returned to that which they had been forbidden, and conspired together for sin and wrong doing and disobedience to the Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH). And when they come to you, they greet you with a greeting wherewith Allah greets you not, and say within themselves: "Why should Allah punish us not for what we say?" Hell will be sufficient for them, they will burn therein, and worst indeed is that destination!

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 8. Turnest thou not thy sight towards those who were forbidden secret counsels yet revert to that which they were forbidden (to do)? And they hold secret counsels among themselves for iniquity and hostility, and disobedience to the Messenger. And when they come to thee, they salute thee, not as Allah salutes thee, (but in crooked ways): And they say to themselves, "Why does not Allah punish us for our words?" Enough for them is Hell: In it will they burn, and evil is that destination! When the Muslim Brotherhood was acquiring strength in Madinah, and the forces of disruption were being discomfited in open fight against the Messenger of Righteousness, the wicked resorted to duplicity and secret intrigues, in which the ringleaders were the disaffected Jews and the Hypocrites, whose machinations have been frequently referred to in the Qur'an. E.g., see 2:8-16; and 4:142-145. The salutation of Allah was (and is) "Peace!" But the enemies, who had not the courage to fight openly often twisted the words, and by using a word like Sam, which meant "Death!" or "Destruction!" instead of Salam! (Peace!), they thought they were secretly venting their spite and yet apparendy using a polite form of salutation. Cf. 2:104, and n. 107, where another similar trick is exposed. The enemies derisively enjoyed their trick (see last note) according to their own perverted mentality. They asked blasphemously, "Why does not Allah punish us?" The answer is given; there is a Punishment, far greater than they imagine; it will come in good time; it will be the final Punishment after Judgement: it is delayed in order to give them a chance of repentance and reformation.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "May his nose soil with dust in whose presence mention is made of me and he does not supplicate for me.'' [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3545].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 08. and conspired together for sin and wrong doing and disobedience to the Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH). "May his nose soil with dust'' means to suffer humiliation and disgrace. That is "may such person be humiliated and disgraced who hears my name and does not invoke Allah's blessings upon me.'' Those who merely kiss thumbs of their hands can also be the addressee of this saying because they do not supplicate Allah for the Prophet image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) while what is in fact ordained is salutation, and not kissing of thumbs. The latter gesture has not been ordained in any Hadith. Some religious scholars regard the salutation obligatory while others hold that it desirable.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 007

Ayat 7. Have you not seen that Allah knows whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is on the earth? There is no Najwa (secret counsel) of three, but He is their fourth (with His Knowledge, while He Himself is over the Throne, over the seventh heaven), nor of five but He is their sixth (with His Knowledge), not of less than that or more, but He is with them (with His Knowledge) where so ever they may be; and afterwards on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they did. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 7. Seest thou not that Allah doth know (all) that is in the heavens and on earth? There is not a secret consultation between three, but He makes the fourth among them, -(5341) Nor between five but He makes the sixth,- nor between fewer nor more, but He is in their midst, whosesoever they be: In the end will He tell them the truth of their conduct, on the Day of Judgment. For Allah has full knowledge of all things. 5341 Secrecy is a relative and limited term among ourselves. There is nothing hidden or unknown to Allah. Usually secrecy implies fear or distrust, plotting or wrongdoing. But all is open before Allah's sight.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Allah does not look at your figures, nor at your attire but He looks at your hearts and accomplishments".  [Muslim Book 32, Chapter 08, Hadith # 6221].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 07. He will inform them of what they did. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower of everything This Hadith highlights the importance of sincerity and good intention. It is, therefore, essential that every noble action should be based on these two virtues; and heart should be free from all such things that destroy noble deeds. Hypocrisy, ostentation, greed for wealth, riches and other worldly things fall in the category of such evils. Since the true condition of heart is known to Allah alone, the true position of one's actions will be known on the Day of Resurrection when one will be required for them by Allah. In this world, one will be treated according to his apparent condition while his insight will be left to Allah.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 006

Ayat 6. On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all together (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) and inform them of what they did. Allah has kept account of it, while they have forgotten it. And Allah is Witness over all things.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 6. On the Day that Allah will raise them all up (again) and show them the Truth (and meaning) of their conduct. Allah has reckoned its (value), though they may have forgotten it, for Allah is Witness to all things. This phrase, "Allah will tell them the truth of their deeds (or their doings or their conduct)" occurs frequency. See Ayat 5:48, ; Ayat 5:105, Ayat 6:60; Ayat 9:94; etc. In this life there is a certain mist or illusion in our spiritual sight. We see things from different angles and dispute about them; we hide real motives, and pretend to virtues which we do not possess; others may attribute such virtues to us, and we may come to believe it ourselves; we conceive likes and hatreds on insufficient grounds; we forget what we should remember, and remember what we should forget. Our vision is narrow, and our values are false. On the Day of Account all this will be remedied. Not only will true values be restored, but we shall ourselves see the inwardness of things in our own lives, which we never saw before.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D2400F.E50B5D20[SAWW](PBUH) recited, "That Day it (the earth) will reveal its news (about all that happened over it of good or evil).'' (99:4). Then he (PBUH) inquired, "Do you know what its news are?'' He was told: "Allah and His Messenger know better". He said, "Its news is that it shall bear witness against every slave man and woman they did on its back. It will say: `You did this and this on such and such day.' Those will be its news.''  [At-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 2429]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 06. And Allah is Witness over all things" It has stern warning for people that however they may try to hide their sins from others, they will not be able to save themselves from Allah and His system of accountability. This Hadith makes evident the perfect Omnipotence of Allah by telling us that He will bestow power of speech on the earth and it will bear witness to the acts committed on its surface. It’s very easy for us the modern human to understand with technology at its peak, as Hadith says `"You did this and this on such and such day". recording of each action via CCTV and other source of surveillance Camera recording, each and every move made by us, the earth bear witness against us It will say: `You did this and this on such and such day.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 005

Ayat 5. Verily, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)  will be disgraced, as those before them (among the past nation), were disgraced. And We have sent down clear Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). And for the disbelievers is a disgracing torment.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 5. Those who resist Allah and His Messenger will be humbled to dust, as were those before them: for We have already sent down Clear Signs. And the Unbelievers (will have) a humiliating Penalty. Only such people will be elevated who act upon the teachings of the Qur'an and abstain from what is forbidden by Allah. The Muslims of the early centuries of Islam were blessed with great honour by Allah because they loved and applied the Qur'an. Because of this meaningful attachment with the Qur'an, they made great achievements in religious and worldly spheres. Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur'an so that we can regain our past glory. Exaltation and humiliation mentioned in the Hadith is bound to happen in both this life and the Hereafter.

Hazrat Ibn Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: He who likes to meet Allah tomorrow (i.e., on the Day of Requital) as a Muslim, should take care and observe the Salat when the Adhan is announced for them. Allah has expounded to your Prophet cid:image003.gif@01D24003.DCCC9400[SAWW](PBUH) the ways of right guidance, and these (the prayers) are part of the right guidance. If you have to perform Salat in your houses, as this man who stays away (from the mosque) and performs Salat in his house, you will abandon the Sunnah (practice) of your Prophet (PBUH), and the departure from the Sunnah of your Prophet cid:image003.gif@01D24003.DCCC9400[SAWW](PBUH) will lead you astray. I have seen the time when no one stayed behind except a well-known hypocrite. I also saw that a man was brought swaying (on account of weakness) between two men till he was set up in a row (in the mosque). [Muslim Book # 04, Chapter 85, Hadith # 1376].

Lesson: This Hadith makes the following four points: 1.Emphasis on performing Salat in congregation.
2.The passion of the Companions of the Prophet (PBUH) for Salat.
3.Evasion from Salat with congregation is a practice of hypocrites.
4.Inducement for following the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) because evasion from it is bound to lead one astray.
"Between the ends of the day'' means Fajr and Maghreb prayers. Some people think it refers to `Isha' prayer while some think it means the Maghreb and `Isha' prayers. "In some hours of the night'' means the Tahajjud prayers. This Ayah of the Qur'an has been quoted here to stress that Salat is an act of great virtue and an expiation of sins, but only for minor sins because the major sins will not be pardoned without sincere repentance.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 004

Ayat 4. And he who finds not (the money for freeing a slave) must fast two successive months before they both touch each other. And for him who is unable to do so, he should feed sixty of Miskin (poor). That is in order that you may have perfect Faith in Allah and His Messenger. These are the limits set by Allah. And for disbelievers, there is a painful torment.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 4. And if any has not (the wherewithal), he should fast for two months consecutively before they touch each other. But if any is unable to do so, he should feed sixty indigent ones. This, that ye may show your faith in Allah and His Messenger. Those are limits (set by) Allah. For those who reject (Him), there is a grievous Penalty. Cf. 4:92. The penalty is: to get a slave his freedom, whether it is your own slave or you purchase his freedom from another; if that is not possible, to fast for two months consecutively (in the manner of the Ramadan fast); if that is not possible, to feed sixty poor. There is a great deal of learned argument among the jurists as to the precise requirements of Canon Law under the term "feeding" the indigent. For example, it is laid down that half a Sa' of wheat or a full Sa' of dates or their equivalent in money would fulfil the requirements, a Sa ' being a measure corresponding roughly to about 9 lbs. of wheat in weight. Others hold that a Mudd measure equivalent to about 2 1/4 lbs. would be sufficient. This would certainly be nearer the daily ration of a man. It is better to take the spirit of the text in its plain simplicity, and say that an indigent man should be given enough to eat for two meals a day. The sixty indigent ones fed for a day would be equivalent to a single individual fed for sixty days, or two for thirty days, and so on. But there is no need to go into minutiae in such matters. These penalties in the alternative are prescribed, that we may show our repentance and Faith and our renunciation of "iniquity and falsehood" (verse 2 above), whatever our circumstances may be. It would seem that this refers to the spiritual Penalty in the Hereafter for not complying with the small penalty here prescribed. The next verse would then refer to the bigger "humiliating Penalty" for "resistance" to Allah's Law generally.

Hazrat Abu-Darda' (May Allah be pleased with him)reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D23F70.ADE70050[SAWW](PBUH) saying, "If three men in a village or in the desert, make no arrangement for Salat in congregation, Satan must have certainly overcome them. So observe Salat in congregation, for the wolf eats up a solitary sheep that stays far from the flock.''  [Abu Dawud Hadith # 547].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 04. These are the limits set by Allah. And for disbelievers, there is a painful torment" This Hadith also stresses the importance of offering Salat in congregation and mentions the disadvantages of offering it individually. One who remains aloof from the congregation, is like the sheep which is separated from its herd and becomes a victim of the wolf. One who lives alone is easily overpowered by satanic doubts.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 003

Ayat 3. And those who make unlawful to them (their wives) (by Az-Zihar) and wish to free themselves from what they uttered, (the penalty) in that case (is) the freeing of a slave before they touch each other. That is an admonition to you (so that you may not return to such an ill thing). And Allah is All-Aware of what you do.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 3. But those who divorce their wives by Zihar, then wish to go back on the words they uttered,- (It is ordained that such a one) should free a slave before they touch each other: Thus are ye admonished to perform: and Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do. If Zihar were to be ignored as if the words were never uttered, it would mean that men may foolishly resort to it without penalty. It is therefore recognized in respect of the penalty which the man incurs, but safeguards the woman's rights. She can sue for maintenance for herself and her children, but her husband could not claim his conjugal rights. If it was a hasty act and he repented of it, he could not claim his conjugal rights until after the performance of his penalty as provided below. If she loved him, as in Khawlah’s case, she could also herself sue for conjugal rights in the legal sense of the term and compel her husband to perform the penalty and resume marital relations.

Hazrat `Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D23E75.5839BB80[SAWW](PBUH) saying: "One who performs `Isha' prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night. And one who performs the Fajr prayer in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat the whole night.'' [Muslim]
The narration of At-Tirmidhi says: `Uthman bin Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated that he had heard the Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D23E75.5839BB80[SAWW](PBUH) saying: "He who attends `Isha' in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for half of the night; and he who attends `Isha' and Fajr prayers in congregation, is as if he has performed Salat for the whole night.'' [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 221].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 3. And Allah is All-Aware of what you do" This Hadith tells us that the reward of performing `Isha' and Fajr prayers in congregation is so great that it equals the worship of the whole night.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 002

Ayat 2. Those among you who make their wives unlawful (Az-Zihar) to them by saying to them "You are like my mother's back." They cannot be their mothers. None can be their mothers except those who gave them birth. And verily, they utter an ill word and a lie. And verily, Allah is Oft-Pardoning, Oft-Forgiving.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 2. If any men among you divorce their wives by Zihar (calling them mothers), they cannot be their mothers: None can be their mothers except those who gave them birth. And in fact they use words (both) iniquitous and false: but truly Allah is one that blots out (sins), and forgives (again and again). Such words are false in fact and iniquitous, inasmuch as they are unfair to the wife and unseemly in decent society. Cf. 4:99 and 22:60. Were it not that Allah in His Mercy makes allowances for our weaknesses and the various grades of motives that actuate us, such conduct would be inexpiable. But He prescribes expiation as in the next verse, because He wishes to blot out what is wrong and give us a chance to reform by His forgiveness.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "No Salat is more burdensome to the hypocrites than the Fajr (dawn) prayer and the `Isha' (night) prayer; and if they knew their merits, they would come to them even if they had to crawl to do so.''  [Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 11, Hadith # 624].
Lesson : as mentioned above `Isha' and Fajr prayers were, and still are, very hard for the hypocrites for the reason that they performed Salat only to make a show of it and not for the fear of Allah. Therefore, Muslims should not show any laziness in them at all, lest they develop a resemblance with the hypocrites.

[58] Surah Al-Mujadilah [The Woman Who Pleads]: Ayat 001

Ayat 1. Indeed Allah has heard the statement of her (Khaulah bint Tha'labah) that disputes with you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) concerning her husband (Aus bin AsSamit), and complains to Allah. And Allah hears the argument between you both. Verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer.

Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 1. Allah has indeed heard (and accepted) the statement of the woman who pleads with thee concerning her husband and carries her complaint (in prayer) to Allah. and Allah (always) hears the arguments between both sides among you: for Allah hears and sees (all things). The immediate occasion was what happened to Khawlah bint Tha'labah, wife of Aws son of Samit. Though in Islam, he divorced her by an old Pagan custom: the formula was known as Zihar, and consisted of the words "Thou art to me as the back of my mother". This was held by Pagan custom to imply a divorce and freed the husband from any responsibility for conjugal duties, but did not leave the wife free to leave the husband's home, or to contract a second marriage. Such a custom was in any case degrading to a woman. It was particularly hard on Khawlah, for she loved her husband and pleaded that she had little children who she had no resources herself to support and whom under Zihar her husband was not bound to support. She urged her plea to the Prophet and in prayer to Allah. Her just plea was accepted, and this iniquitous custom, based on false words, was abolished. See also 33:4. For He is a just God, and will not allow human customs or pretenses to trample on the just rights of the weakest of His creatures.

Hazrat Masruq (May Allah be pleased with him) said: We visited Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) and he said to us: O people! He who has the knowledge of any matter may convey it to the others. And he who has no knowledge, thereof, should say: "Allahu a`lam (Allah knows better).'' It is a part and parcel of knowledge that a man who has no knowledge of a matter should say: "Allah knows better.'' Allah said to His Prophet cid:image004.gif@01D23DB4.82FCD120[SAWW](PBUH): "Say (O Muhammad cid:image004.gif@01D23DB4.82FCD120[SAWW](PBUH)): `No wage do I ask of you for this (the Qur'an), nor am I one of the Mutakallifun (those who pretend and fabricate things which do not exist).''' (38:86)  [Al-Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Number 333].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 01. And Allah hears the argument between you both. Verily, Allah is All-Hearer, All-Seer" If one does not know about something, he should not say anything about it by way of conjecture, speculation and guesswork because this is also pretension which is forbidden. When any one is asked about anything which they do not know, they should confess their ignorance. Such a confession is also a mark of grace. In other words, they should abstain from giving verdict about any matter without making a thorough study and research on it.

[57] Surah Al-Hadid [The Iron]: Ayat 029

Ayat 29. So that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may know that they have no power whatsoever over the Grace of Allah, and that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. And Allah is the Owner of Great Bounty.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Hadid Ayat  29. That the People of the Book may know that they have no power whatever over the Grace of Allah, that (His) Grace is (entirely) in His Hand, to bestow it on whomsoever He wills. For Allah is the Lord of Grace abounding. Let not any race, or people, or community, or group, believe that they have exclusive possession of Allah's Grace, or that they can influence its grant or its withholding. Allah's Grace is free, and entirely controlled by Him, independently of any priests and privileged people. He dispenses it according to His own wise and Holy Will and Plan; and to His Grace there is no limit.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect, and if anyone invites others to follow error, the sin, will be equivalent to that of the people who follow him (in sinfulness) without their sins being diminished in any respect".  [Muslim Book # 06, Chapter 34, Hadith # 6470].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Hadid Ayat 29. So that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may know that they have no power whatsoever over the Grace of AllahInvitation' and `Call' stand to mean here that someone induces others to virtue or seduces to sin by means of his speech or action. We come to know from this Hadith that one who becomes a medium for either of them is given a reward or punishment respectively by Allah (SWT).

[57] Surah Al-Hadid [The Iron]: Ayat 028

Ayat 28. O you who believe [in Musa (Moses) (i.e. Jews) and 'Iesa (Jesus) (i.e. Christians)]! Fear Allah, and believe too in His Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), He will give you a double portion of His Mercy, and He will give you a light by which you shall walk (straight), and He will forgive you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Al-Hadid Ayat 28. O ye that believe! Fear Allah, and believe in His Messenger, and He will bestow on you a double portion of His Mercy: He will provide for you a Light by which ye shall walk (straight in your path), and He will forgive you (your past): for Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful. From the context before after (see next note). this is held to refer to the Christians and People of the Book who kept their Faith true and undefiled. The double portion refers to the past and the future. As noted in the last note, this passage is addressed to the Christians and the People of the Book, who, when honestly facing the question of the new Revelation in Islam, find in it the fulfilment of previous revelations, and therefore believe in Allah's Messenger Muhammad, and walk by the new Light. Their previous merits will be duly recognized, and they will be treated on fully equal terms in the new Ummah. This is their double share, not necessarily more in quantity than that of their brethren in Islam who passed through no other gate, but having a twofold aspect. As this refers to the Christians and the People of the Book, the following saying of Christ in his last days may interest them: "Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you. While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. also 57:12. Any wrongs they may have committed through ignorance or misconceptions in their previous religion will be forgiven them, as they have seen the new Light and walk by it.

Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Three kinds of people will have a double reward: A man from the People of the Book who believes in his Prophet and (also) believes in Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) ; a slave who discharges properly the duties towards Allah and towards his master; and a man who possesses a slave-girl and teaches her manners, educates her well, and frees her and then marries her.''  [Muslim Book 04, Chapter 55, Hadith # 655].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Hadid Ayat 28. He (Allah) will give you a double portion of His Mercy,
1. Ahlul-Kitab means the people of the Scriptures that are the Jews and the Christians. This Hadith has an inducement for them that if they embrace Islam, they will be entitled to a double reward.
2. Similarly, a sincere and well-wishing slave will also be entitled to a double reward because, on the one side, he obeys his master and bears all the trouble that is involved in his obedience, and on the other side, he also does justice to the worship of Allah.
3. Muslims have been enjoined to impart proper education and training to their slaves, especially their slave-girls. In the latter case, they have been advised to liberate and marry them with all the essentials of marriage. That is, they should be given a dower and all other rights to which wives are entitled. There is a double reward for all these types of people.
