[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 048-049

Ayat 48. So wait patiently (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW] (PBUH) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep.
Ayat 49. And in the night-time, also glorify His Praises (with Tahajjud optional prayer), and at the setting of the stars.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 48 and 49. Now await in patience the command of thy Lord: for verily thou art in Our eyes: and celebrate the praises of thy Lord the while thou standest forth. The messenger of Allah must strive his utmost to proclaim the Message of Allah: as for results, it is not for him to command them. He must wait patiently, in the knowledge that he is not forgotten by Allah, but is constantly under Allah's eyes under His loving care and protection. And he must glorify Allah's name, as he is a standard-bearer of Allah's Truth. The translators and Commentators nearly all understand taqumu in the sense of rising up from sleep. But the rendering I have given is consistent with Quranic usage. In 26:218, we have the same two words Hina taqumu, meaning "standing forth (in prayer)". In 57:25, we have ti yaqumu al nas bil al qist, which obviously means "that men may stand forth in Justice," i.e., do all their business injustice. In 78:38, we have yaqumu used for the angels standing forth in ranks. On my rendering the meaning will be: 'celebrate Allah's praises when you stand forth in prayer, or at all times when you go about your business; but also for part of the night and at early dawn when worldly life is at a standstill.' 49. And for part of the night also praise thou Him, - and at the retreat of the stars! It is not necessary to understand this for any particular canonical prayers. It is good to spend a part of the night in prayer and praise: Cf. 73:6. And the Dawn is a daily recurring miracle of nature, full of spiritual influences and "testimony": Cf. 17:78-79. Idbar al nujum: the retreat of the stars: the glorious hour of early dawn. In 113:1, we seek Allah's protection as "Lord of the Dawn".

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-as (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said to me, "O 'Abdullah! Do not be like so-and-so; he used to get up at night for (Tahajjud) optional prayer but abandoned it later.'' [Al-Bukhari Hadith # 1152].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 49. And in the night-time, also glorify His Praises (with Tahajjud optional prayer), and at the setting of the stars” This Hadith also stresses the same point as Ayat 12, that is, man should be grateful to Allah and steadfast in his good doings. There should be no cessation in this respect, otherwise, he will unconsciously begin to incline to evil and, therefore, to the erosion of moral foundations of his character. Steadfastness in the observance of good ensures man's security against pitfalls and has Divine approval, too.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 045-047

Ayat 45. So leave them alone till they meet their Day, in which they will sink into a fainting (with horror).
Ayat 46. The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell).
Ayat 47.  And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment (i.e. the torment in this world and in their graves) before this, but most of them know not.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 45 to 47. So leave them alone until they encounter that Day of theirs, wherein they shall (perforce) swoon (with terror), That is, the Day of Judgment. Cf. 39:68. 46. The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 47. And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment besides this. But most of them understand not. The final Judgment is for all. But in addition, wrongdoers have to fear a retribution or punishment in this very life, an open punishment through external events or, at least the bitter pangs of conscience within.

Hazrat Hasan bin Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) said: I remember (these words) from Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH): "Give up what is doubtful to you for that which is not doubtful; for truth is peace of mind and falsehood is doubt".  [At-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 2518]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 47.  And verily, for those who do wrong, there is another punishment" This Hadith leads us to the conclusion that one must always avoid doubtful things so that he does not do anything unlawful. This message is repeated in another Hadith which says that he who has saved himself from doubts has in fact saved his Faith and honour.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 042-044

Ayat 42. Or do they intend a plot (against you)? But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) are themselves in a plot!
Ayat 43. Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him)
Ayat 44. And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!"

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 42. Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! Shallow men who plot against Good are themselves the willing victims of insidious plots laid by Evil. 43. Or have they a god other than Allah. Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! This is the final and decisive question: Is there really any god other than Allah the One True God? Every argument points to the negative. A series of questions has been asked pointing to the negative of the superstitions of the godless. The gospel of Unity, Revelation, and the Hereafter had thus been preached by a searching examination of the position of the Unbelievers. And the Surah ends with an exhortation to leave alone those who will not believe because they wish not to believe, and to let Time work out the web and pattern of Allah's Plan. 44. Were they to see a piece of the sky falling (on them), they would (only) say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" In 26:187, Shuayb, the Prophet of Allah, is challenged by the Companions of the Wood "to cause a piece of sky to fall on us, if thou art truthful." Such a challenge, in some form or other, is addressed to all Prophets of Allah. It is mere defiance. It has no meaning. If a piece of the sky were to fall on them, it would not convince them, for they would only say: "These are only clouds gathered in heaps." They do not wish to believe. Otherwise there are ample Signs and Evidences of Allah's Plan in Creation and in man's own heart.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) used to say when he was in distress: "La ilaha illallahul-Azimul-Halim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbul-`Arshil-`Azim. La ilaha illallahu Rabbus-samawati, wa Rabbul-ardi, wa Rabbul-`Arshil-Karim. (None has the right to be worshipped but Allah the Incomparably Great, the Compassionate. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah the Rubb of the Mighty Throne. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah the Rubb of the heavens, the Rubb of the earth, and the Rubb of the Honorable Throne).''  [Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 75, Hadith # 357]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 42. Or do they intend a plot (against you)? But those who disbelieve (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) are themselves in a plot!" The only medicine in a time of distress is the remembrance of Allah Whose Help alone should be sought. This Dua contains words which glorify Allah and exalt Him far above all else. It is desirable to recite these words when one is in distress as this is exactly what the Prophet (PBUH) used to recite in such situations.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 039-041

Ayat 39. Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons?
Ayat 40. Or is it that you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) ask a wage from them (for your preaching of Islamic Monotheism) so that they are burdened with a load of debt?
Ayat 41. Or that the Ghaib (unseen) is with them, and they write it down?

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 39 to 41. Or has He only daughters and ye have sons? Cf. 16:57-59. To the gospel of Unity it is repugnant to assign begotten sons or daughters to Allah. But the Arab superstition about angels being the daughters of Allah was particularly blasphemous as the Pagan Arabs hated to have daughters themselves and considered it a mark of humiliation! (see also 53:21). 40. Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt? The Prophets of Allah ask for no reward to preach the Message of Allah and direct men to the right Path. Why then do men shun them and persecute those who seek to bring blessings to them? 41. Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? The Unseen in the spiritual world is a subject of Revelation, though it works through the common everyday life of man. The men who reject Revelation simply because it is outside their own experience ought on the contrary to try to learn about it and seek to understand it.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Messenger of Allah cid:image003.gif@01D1E113.09F56380[SAWW](PBUH) passed away, Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) was appointed as his successor (caliph). Amongst the Arabs some men apostatized. Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) resolved to fight them. `Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said to Abu Bakr: "How can you fight them when the Messenger of Allah cid:image003.gif@01D1E113.09F56380[SAWW](PBUH) has declared: `I have been commanded to fight people till they testify La ilaha illallah (there is no true god except Allah); and if they do it, their blood (life) and property are secured except when justified by law, and it is for Allah to call them to account." Upon this Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah, I would definitely fight him who makes distinction between Salat and the Zakat, because it is an obligation upon the rich to pay Zakat. By Allah I will fight them even to secure the piece of rope which they used to give to the Messenger of Allah cid:image003.gif@01D1E113.09F56380[SAWW](PBUH).'' `Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) said: "I realized that Allah opened the heart of Abu Bakr (May Allah be pleased with him) for fighting those who refused to pay Zakat, and I fully recognized that Abu Bakr ¨(May Allah be pleased with him) was right.''  [Al-Bukhari Book 02, Chapter 23, Hadith # 483]

Lesson: This Hadith brings into prominence the excellence of Hazrat Abu Bakr As-Siddiq’s determination, religious firmness and deep understanding of the Islamic law. It also tells us that one who does not accept that Zakat is obligatory in Islam, is a Kafir like the one who renounces Salat. The stand taken by Hazrat Abu Bakr was ultimately accepted by all the Companions of the Prophet cid:image003.gif@01D1E113.09F56380[SAWW](PBUH), and this is how they unanimously agreed to wage Jihad against those who refused to pay Zakat. This unanimous consent on the issue of Zakat was based on the order of Shari’ah.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 037-038

Ayat 37. Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like?
Ayat 38. Or have they a stairway (to heaven), by means of which they listen (to the talks of the angels)? Then let their listener produce some manifest proof.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 37. Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? Cf. 6:50. The Treasures of Allah's Knowledge are infinite. But the doubters and unbelievers have no access to them, much less can the doubters and unbelievers manage the wonders of this world. Must they not therefore seek grace and revelation from Allah? 38. Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. Cf. 6:35: a reference to the Pagan belief that by means of a material ladder a man might climb up to heaven and learn its secrets!

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D1E11B.07B62840 [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Verily! The world is accursed and what it contains is accursed, except remembrance of Allah and those who associate themselves with Allah; and a learned man, and a learning person.'' [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2322].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 37. Or are with them the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the tyrants with the authority to do as they like? 1. This Hadith does not mean that this world is totally condemned. What it really means is that such things of this world are cursed which take a person away from Allah and make him careless about his obedience. Thus, anything of this world can be good and evil. For instance, worldly goods are auspicious if one acquires them through lawful means and spends them in a permissible manner, otherwise, they are condemnable. Similar is the case of other things of this world.
2. That knowledge is good which brings one closer to Allah and is a source of benefit for mankind, otherwise, it is also condemnable.
3. This Hadith also brings into prominence the distinction of men of learning, especially scholars of religious disciplines.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 035-036

Ayat 35. Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators?
Ayat 36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they have no firm Belief.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 35. Were they created of nothing, or were they themselves the creators? Were they created of nothing? Three possible alternative meanings are suggested by the Commentators, according to the meaning we give to the Arabic preposition min = of, by, with, for. (1) 'Were they created by nothing? Did they come into existence of themselves? Was it a mere chance that they came into being? (2) Were they created as men out of nothing? Was there not a wonderful seed, from which their material growth can be traced, as the handiwork of a wise and wonderful Creator? Must they not then seek His Will? (3) Were they created for nothing, to no purpose? If they were created for a purpose, must they not try to learn that purpose by understanding Allah's Revelation? 36. Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. They obviously did not create the wonders of the starry heavens and the fruitful globe of the earth. But they can assign no definite cause to explain it, as they have no firm belief on the subject themselves.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D1E116.B3201790[SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who does not acquire knowledge with the sole intention of seeking the Pleasure of Allah but for worldly gain, will not smell the fragrance of Jannah on the Day of Resurrection.''  [Abu Dawud Hadith # 3664].

Lesson : This Hadith has an inducement for acquiring knowledge for the Pleasure of Allah alone. If a religious scholar acquires it to make it a means of worldly gains, then it turns to such a serious crime that such a scholar will not even smell the fragrance of Jannah (i.e., he will not enter it along with the saved). May Allah save us from it. However, if a scholar gains wealth and worldly gains through it without any intention, then it is altogether a different matter. In that case, it is not harmful for him as long as he uses it in a manner pleasing to Allah.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 032-034

Ayat 32. Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief).
Ayat 33. Or do they say: "He (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)) has forged it (this Qur’an)?" Nay! They believe not!
Ayat 34. Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Qur’an) if they are truthful.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 32 to 34. Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this, or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? It may be that the persecutors of Truth are ignorant, and their deficient faculties of understanding mislead them, but it is more often the case that they are perverse rebels against the law of Allah, defending their own selfish interests, and preventing those whom they oppress, from getting justice. Cf. 51:53. 33. Or do they say, "He fabricated the (Message)"? Nay, they have no faith! As an alternative to the charges of being a soothsayer or a madman or a disgruntled poet, there is the charge of a forger or fabricator applied to the Prophet of Allah when he produces his Message. This implies that there can be no revelation or inspiration from Allah. Such an attitude negatives Faith altogether. But if this is so can they produce a work of man that can compare with the inspired Word of Allah? They cannot (Cf. 2;23, 10:37 -39, 11:13 , and 17:88). 34. Let them then produce a recital like unto it,- If (it be) they speak the truth!

Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur'an and abases others.''  [Muslim Book 04, Chapter 138, Hadith # 1780]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 34. Let them then produce a recital like unto it (the Qur’an) if they are truthful" "Only such people will be elevated who act upon the teachings of the Qur'an and abstain from what is forbidden by Allah. The Muslims of the early centuries of Islam were blessed with great honour by Allah because they loved and applied the Qur'an. Because of this meaningful attachment with the Qur'an, they made great achievements in religious and worldly spheres. Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur'an so that we can regain our past glory. Exaltation and humiliation mentioned in the Hadith is bound to happen in both this life and the Hereafter.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 029-031

Ayat 29. Therefore, remind and preach (mankind, O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) of Islamic Monotheism). By the Grace of Allah, you are neither a soothsayer, nor a madman.
Ayat 30. Or do they say: "(Muhammad  image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) is) a poet! We await for him some calamity by time.!"
Ayat 31. Say (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) to them): "Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!"

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 29 to 31. Therefore proclaim thou the praises (of thy Lord): for by the Grace of thy Lord, thou art no (vulgar) soothsayer, nor art thou one possessed. The greatest of the Prophets was called a soothsayer, i.e., one who tells fortunes by divination, or a madman possessed of some evil spirit, or a poet singing spiteful satires. Much more may lesser men be called by such names because they proclaim the Truth. They should go on in spite of it all. 30. Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" If a spiteful poet foretells evil calamities for men, men can afford to laugh at him, hoping that Time will bring about its revenge, and spite will come to an evil end. For the various meanings of Rayb, see 14:9. Some Commentators suggest Death as the Calamity hatched by Time. 31. Say thou: "Await ye!- I too will wait along with you!" see Cf. 9 :52.  If the wicked wait or look for some calamity to befall the preacher of Truth, the preacher of Truth can with far more justice await the decision of the issue between him and his persecutors. For he stands for right, and Allah will support the right.

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah cid:image004.gif@01D1E03B.7EB071C0[SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate (in these words): "Allahumma inni audhu bika min sharri ma `amiltu, wa min sharri ma lam a`mal (O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the evil of that which I have done and the evil of that which I have not done).''  [Muslim Book 35, Chapter 17, Hadith # 6558]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 31. Say (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) to them): "Wait! I am with you, among the waiters!" This prayer is also very comprehensive. Sometimes a person does a virtuous deed but it is tainted with slight hypocrisy or pride. It is an element which destroys even the most virtuous deeds. It is this mischief against which Allah's Protection has been sought through this prayer.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 025-028

Ayat 25. And some of them draw near to others, questioning. (regarding worldly life)
Ayat 26. Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah).
Ayat 27. "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire.
Ayat 28. "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is AL Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful."

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 25 to 28. They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. The third-and the highest-stage of Bliss, after individual Bliss and social Bliss, is the satisfaction of looking to the Past without its shadows and realizing to the full in the Present the goodness of Allah. This, again, is shared in mutual converse and confidence. 26. They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. A man may be good, and may with limits have found goodness in his own spiritual life, but may have anxieties about his family or friends whom he loves. All such shadows are removed in heaven by the Grace of Allah, and he is free to dwell in it in this confidential converse with other men similarly circumstanced. 27. "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. "Us" includes the good man or woman and all whom he or she cared for. This would be an ever-expanding circle, until it includes all mankind through Teachers like the Chosen One. The "Scorching Wind" is the type of haste, arrogance, and fire, such as entered into the composition of Jinns: 15:27. The destiny of man is to attain to calm, peace, security, the Garden of Bliss. 28. "Truly, we did call unto Him from of old: truly it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful!" Before this, we called upon Him, in faith that He is good: now we know in our inmost souls that He is indeed good-the Beneficent, the Merciful.' This is the climax of the description of Heaven.

Hazrat Jarir bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who is deprived of forbearance and gentleness is, in fact, deprived of all good.''  [Muslim Book 32, Chapter 21, Hadith # 6272]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 26. Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah)" This Hadith brings out that Allah enjoins softness and dislikes stiffness in human relations. Allah assures of reward for gentle behavior in society, not for unkindness or anything like that. However, inflexibility is preferred to flexibility when there arises a question of religious matters and the limits set by Allah.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 022-024

Ayat 22. And We shall provide them (the residence of Jannah) with fruit and meat, such as they desire.
Ayat 23. There they shall pass from hand to hand a (wine) cup, free from any Laghw (dirty, false, evil vague talk between them), and free from sin (because it will be legal for them to drink).
Ayat 24. And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 22 to 24. And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. Note that this verse is embedded in the midst of the description of social bliss; the individual bliss figured by meat and drink has already been mentioned in verse 19 earlier. The social pleasure will be of any kind or quantity they shall desire, but their desires will then be purified, just as their pleasures will be on a different plane. (R). 23. They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. Drinking or loving cups, in our life on this earth, are apt to be misused in two ways: (1) they may be occasions for mere frivolity or the wasting of time; (2) they may lead to evil thoughts, evil suggestions, evil talk, or evil deeds. 24. Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them. Youths (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. Maknun: well-guarded, kept close, concealed from exposure: the beautiful nacreous luster of Pearls is disfigured by exposure to gases, vapors, or acids; when not actually in use they are best kept in closed caskets, guarded from deteriorating agencies.

Hazrat Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Musa (Moses) (PBUH) asked his Rubb: `Who amongst the inhabitants of Jannah will be the lowest in rank?' He said: `It will be a person who will be admitted into Jannah last of all when all the dwellers of Jannah have entered Jannah. It will be said to him: Enter Jannah. But he will say: O my Rubb! How should I enter while the people have settled in their apartments and taken their shares? It will be said to him: Will you be satisfied and pleased if you have a kingdom like that of a monarch of the world? He will say: I will be content, my Rubb. Allah will say: For you is that, and like that and like that and like that and like that. He will say at the fifth time: I am well-pleased, my Rubb. Allah will say: It is for you and ten times more like it. You will have whatever your soul desires and whatever your eyes could delight in. He will say: I am well-pleased, my Rubb.' Musa (PBUH) said: `Who will be of the highest rank in Jannah.' Allah said: `They are those whom I chose and I established their honour with My Own Hand. I attest with My Seal that they will be blessed with such bounties as no eye has seen, no ear has heard and no human mind has perceived.'' [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 83, Hadith # 363]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 22. And We shall provide them (the residence of Jannah) with fruit and meat, such as they desireThis Hadith highlights Allah's unbounded Mercy and Bounty upon His slaves in Jannah although they do not deserve all that.

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]: Ayat 021

Ayat 21. And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 21. And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. Dhurriyah: literally, progeny, offspring, family: applied by extension to mean all near and dear ones whether related or not. Love is unselfish, and works not merely, or chiefly, for Self, but for others; provided the others have Faith and respond according to their capacities or degrees, they will be joined on to the Head of the Group, even though on individual merits their rank might be less. This applies specially to a Prophet and his Ummah (or following). As already explained in the last note, though the love poured out by Prophets, ancestors, descendants, friends, or good men and women, will secure for their loved ones the enjoyment of their society, it is an indispensable condition that the loved ones should also, according to their lights, have shown their faith and their goodness in deeds. Each individual is responsible for his conduct. In the kingdom of heaven there is no boasting of ancestors or friends. But it is part of the satisfaction of the good ones who poured out their love that those who were in any way worthy to receive their love should also be admitted to their society, and this satisfaction shall in no wise be diminished to them.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: When this Verse was revealed: "And warn your tribe (O Muhammad image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) of near kindred". (26:214) Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) called the Quraysh; when they gathered, he said to them: "O sons of `Abd Shams; O sons of Kaab bin Lu’ai rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of Murrah bin Kaab, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of `Abd Manaf, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of `Abdul-Muttalib, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O Fatimah, rescue yourself from the Fire, for I have no power (to protect you) from Allah in anything except that I would sustain relationship with you".  [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 87, Hadith # 399].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 21. And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring,1. This Hadith tells us that lineage in the Hereafter will not help anybody. So much so that even one's relationship with Messenger of Allah (PBUH) shall not carry any weight on that day. The only thing that will then help in salvation will be one's good deeds. People for whom the Prophet (PBUH) and pious men will intercede will be believers with some sins in their account and not the disbelievers devoid of Faith and good actions. Neither will anybody intercede for the infidels, nor will the infidels find salvation. 2. In preaching religion, priority must be given to one's own close relatives. They deserve it more than anyone else and for these reason Divine injunctions should be first of all conveyed to them. 3. Even if a Muslim's relatives are pagans and polytheists, their rights of kinsmen and the demands of "maintaining the ties of kinship'' enjoined by Islam must be fulfilled. The first and foremost demand of their rights is that they should be invited to the right path so that they will be saved from Hell-fire.
