[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 64-65

Ayat 64. Verily, Allah has cursed the disbelievers, and has prepared for them a flaming Fire (Hell).
Ayat 65. Wherein they will abide forever, and they will find neither a Wali (a protector) nor a helper.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 64 and 65. Verily Allah has cursed the Unbelievers and prepared for them a Blazing Hell Fire for to burn forever and ever,
Ayat 65. To dwell therein for ever: no protector will they find to get them out of there, nor helper to comfort them.
Hazrat Ibn Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Hell will be brought on that Day (the Day of Resurrection) with seventy bridles; and with every bridle will be seventy thousand angels, pulling it". [Muslim Book 40, Chapter 12, Hadith # 6810].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 64.“has prepared for them a flaming Fire (Hell)” This Hadith deals with the hidden matters relating to the Unseen world. Muslims are ordained by Allah to believe in them. It is wrong to hold them as metaphorical. They are realities but we cannot imagine them.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 62-63

Ayat 62. That was the Way of Allah in the case of those who passed away of old, and you will not find any change in the Way of Allah.
Ayat 63. People ask you (Muhammadimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)." concerning the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection), say: "The knowledge of it is with Allah only. What do you know? It may be that the Hour is near!"

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 62 and 63. (Such was) the practice (approved) of Allah among those who lived aforetime: No change wilt thou find in the practice (approved) of Allah. The Jewish Law was much more severe: see 33:26. That severity is mitigated in Islam. But it is a universal principle that any element which deliberately refuses to obey law and aggressively tries to subvert all order in society, secretly and openly, must be effectively suppressed, for the preservation of the life and health of the general community.
Ayat 63. Men ask thee concerning the Hour: Say, "The knowledge thereof is with Allah (alone)": and what will make thee understand?- perchance the Hour is nigh! Cf. 7:187, where the idea is further explained. The knowledge of the Final Hour is with Allah alone. The fact of its coming is certain: the exact time when it will come has not been revealed. If it were, it would disturb our thoughts and life. "Heavy were its burden through the heavens and the earth." But at any given moment it cannot be far distant. In theological language, each individual's death is a Final Hour, a Qiyamah Sughra (Lesser Day of Judgement). In that sense it is not the same for all individuals, and is certainly always near, "In the midst of life we are in death", as the Anglican Prayer-Book says in its Burial Service.

Hazrat 'Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) said: Once we were sitting in the company of Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) when there appeared a man dressed in very white clothes and having extraordinary black hair. No signs of fatigue of journey appeared on him and he was known to none of us. He sat down facing the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) leaning his knees against the knees of the Prophet (PBUH) and placing both of his palms over his two thighs and said, "O Muhammad (PBUH)! Tell me about Islam". He (PBUH)replied, "Islam is to testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah; that you observe Salat (prayers), pay Zakat, observe Saum (fasting) of Ramadan and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) of the House, provided you have resources of making journey to it.'' He replied: "You have spoken the truth". We were surprised to see that he had asked him and confirmed the correctness of the answers. He then enquired: "Tell me about Iman". He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said. "It is to believe in Allah, and His Books, and His Messengers and the Last Day and that you believe in foreordainment, it’s bad and good consequences.'' He said, "You have spoken the truth.'' He then enquired: "Tell me about Ihsan.'' He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "It is to worship Allah as if you are seeing Him; and although you do not see Him, He sees you". He enquired: "Inform me about the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection)". He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "I have no more knowledge thereof than you". He said, "Inform me about some of its signs". He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "They are - that a bondswoman gives birth to her own master, and that you will find the barefooted, naked, poor shepherds competing one another in the construction of higher buildings". Then he departed. The Messenger of Allah kept silent for a while then he said to me, "O `Umar! Do you know who the questioner was?'' I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know better". The Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He was Jibril (Gabriel); he came to you to teach you your religion".
[Muslim Book 001, Chapter 001, Hadith # 001]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 63. “People ask you (Muhammadimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)." concerning the Hour (i.e., the Day of Resurrection)This Hadith is known as 'Hadith Jibril'. It mentions the basics of Islam the details of which are known to every Muslim. Al-Qadr (Divine foreordainment) means that Allah already knows and had recorded everything that will happen until the Day of Resurrection. Now whatever happens is in accordance with that knowledge and writing. What is meant by its good and bad consequences can be illustrated by saying that tranquility; prosperity and abundance of crops come in the category of good consequences. Famine, calamities and troubles, etc., fall in the list as evil consequences. But we regard them good or bad according to our own understanding; otherwise, every action of Allah has some wisdom and expedience which are known to Him Alone.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 60-61

Ayat 60. If the hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease (evil desire for adultery, etc.), and those who spread false news among the people in Al-Madinah, cease not, Allah shall certainly overpower them with a (terrible) punishment, then they will not be able to stay in it as your neighbors but a little while.
Ayat 61. Accursed, wherever found, they shall be seized and dealt with a (terrible) punishment.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 60 and 61.Truly, if the Hypocrites, and those in whose hearts is a disease, and those who stir up sedition in the City, desist not, We shall certainly stir thee up against them: Then will they not be able to stay in it as thy neighbors for any length of time: It was necessary to put down all kinds of unseemly conduct in the Prophet's City. And here is the warning in the plainest terms. And the warning had its effect. The "Hypocrites" were men who pretended to be in Islam but whose manners and morals were anti-Islamic. Those "with diseased hearts" may have been the ones that molested innocent women. "Those who stirred up sedition" put false rumors in circulation to excite the crowd. Alas! we must ask ourselves the question: "Are these conditions present among us today?"

Ayat 61. They shall have a curse on them: whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain (without mercy). They will be deprived of the blessing and guidance of Allah. They sought to cause disorder in Allah's world—moral as well as material, but they will themselves be destroyed. Those who become outlaws, rebels against the Law, will themselves be destroyed by the Law. Capital punishment is the only adequate punishment for treason and crimes of sustained concerted violence—for the protection of the hearths and homes of innocent citizens and the honour of their women.
Hazrat Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, ”Verily, Allah gives respite to the oppressor. But when He seizes him, He does not let him escape.'' Then he (PBUH)) recited, "Such is the Seizure of your Rubb when He seizes the (population of) towns while they are doing wrong. Verily, His Seizure is painful (and) severe". (11:102).  [Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 208]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 61. Accursed, wherever found, they shall be seized and dealt with a (terrible) punishment” One should not take the respite for exemption because no one knows when respite granted by Him will come to an end and punishment will follow.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 59

Ayat 59. O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 59. O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft- Forgiving, Most Merciful. This is for all Muslim women, those of the Prophet's household, as well as the others. They were asked to cover themselves with outer garments when walking around. Jilbab, plural Jalabib: an outer garment: a long gown covering the whole body, or a cloak covering the neck and bosom. The object was not to restrict the liberty of women but to protect them from harm and molestation. In the East and the West a distinctive public dress of some sort or another has always been a badge of honour or distinction, both among men and women. This can be traced back to the earliest civilizations. Assyrian Law in its palmist days (say, 7th century B.C.), enjoined the veiling of married women and forbade the veiling of slaves and women of ill fame: see Cambridge Ancient History, III, 107. That is, if a Muslim woman sincerely tries to observe this rule, but owing to human weakness falls short of the ideal, then "Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" ( Cf. 24:30-31).
Hazrat Wabisah bin Mabad (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I went to Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and he asked me, "Have you come to inquire about piety?'' I replied in the affirmative. Then he said, "Ask your heart regarding it. Piety is that which contents the soul and comforts the heart, and sin is that which causes doubts and perturbs the heart, even if people pronounce it lawful and give you verdicts on such matters again and again.'' [Masnad Ahmad, Imam Ahmad Hadith # 228/4].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 59. “Allah is Ever Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful” There are two points about this Hadith. First, it is one of the miracles of Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) who discovered the nature of the question before it was put to him. Second, man's heart is the biggest guide to him and he, therefore, should keep his heart illuminated with the light of Faith so as to continue receiving guidance from it.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 58

Ayat 58. And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly bear on themselves the crime of slander and plain sin.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 58. And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly bear (on themselves) a calumny and a glaring sin. Cf. 4:112. In that passage we were told that anyone who was himself guilty but accused an innocent man of his guilt, was obviously placing himself in double jeopardy; first, for his own original guilt, and secondly for the guilt of a false accusation. Here we take two classes of men instead of two individuals. The men and women of faith (if they deserve the name) and doing all they can to serve Allah and humanity. If they are insulted, hurt, or annoyed by those whose sins they denounce, the latter suffer the penalties of a double guilt, viz., their sins to start with, and the insults or injuries they offer to those who correct them. Instead of resenting the preaching of Truth, they should welcome it and profit by it.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) was asked about the deed which will be foremost to lead a man to Jannah. He replied, "Fear of Allah and the good conduct.'' Then he was asked about indulgence which will admit a man to Hell (Fire) and he answered, "The tongue and the genitals.''  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2004].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 58. And those who annoy believing men and women undeservedly bear on themselves the crime of slander and plain sin” This is also a very comprehensive Hadith. Fear of Allah really links up a man to Him, and moral refinement prevents him from falling short of his duties to people. To be sure, adherence to this two-fold practice will cause the entry of a lot of people to Jannah. Many a man, on the other hand, has a long, sharp and dangerous tongue and this causes him to pour out heretic utterances and indulge in backbiting, slandering and abusive and nonsensical talk. All this activity leads to Hell. As for genitals, an unwary and unrestrained attitude incites one to indulge in immoral pursuits. In both these cases countless people will be led into Hell. For this reason it is imperative for everybody to develop Taqwa (consciousness of Allah / fear of Allah) and refined behavior and shun the wickedness of tongue and genitals so that his life in the Hereafter may not be ruined.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 57

Ayat 57. Verily, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger (image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) Allah has cursed them in this world, and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating torment.
Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 57. Those who annoy Allah and His Messenger (image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) by fabricating false allegations, Allah has cursed them in this World and in the Hereafter, and has prepared for them a humiliating Punishment.
Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Among the people of Hell are there those who will be emersed in fire to their ankles, some to their knees, some to their waists, and some to their throats". [Muslim Book 040, Chapter 12, Hadith # 6815].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 57. “Allah has cursed them in this world, and in the Hereafter” This Hadith tells us that the inhabitants of Jannah will be classified into different categories and enjoy different kinds of luxuries according to their merits. A similar classification will also be made in the inhabitants of Hell and they will suffer torments according to their misdeeds.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 56

Ayat 56. Allah sends His Salat (Graces, Honors, Blessings, Mercy, etc.) on the Prophet (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and also His angels too (ask Allah to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammadimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), and (you should) greet (salute) him with the Islamic way of greeting (salutation i.e. AsSalam u 'Alaikum).

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 56. Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH): O ye that believe! Send your blessings on him, and salute him with all respect. Allah and His angels honour and bless the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) as the greatest of men. We are asked to honour and bless him all the more because he took upon himself to suffer the sorrow and afflictions of this life in order to guide us to Allah's Mercy and the highest inner Life.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Whenever someone greets me, Allah returns the soul to my body (in the grave) and I return his greeting.''
[Sunan Abu Dawud, Hadith # 2041].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 56. “O you who believe! Send your Salat on (ask Allah to bless) him (Muhammadimage001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) We learn from this Hadith that the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) is alive in his grave and he answers the salutation offered by a Muslim. But this life of his is the life of Barzakh (an intervening state between death and the Day of Resurrection, and whoever dies, enters it) the reality of which is not known to us. Thus, it is wrong to say that the life of the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) is like worldly life or more vigorous than it. Such a claim is baseless because it is not confirmed by the Qur'an and Hadith. Were he to be alive the way he was in his lifetime, there would have been no need for "the returning of the soul to his body'' and he would be able to answer the salutations without it. As far this ambiguity is concerned, when countless Muslims are always offering salutations to the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) how does the return of the soul takes place after such short intervals? Such questions arise due to the lack of certitude in the Omnipotence of Allah. When the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) stated that his soul is returned to him then we should have absolute faith in his statement because Allah is Capable of doing everything. What is its nature and form, it is not known to us, nor can we know it. Thus, the question of the return of soul in the grave should be considered similar to the ambiguous Ayat of the Qur'an in which every Muslim is required to have blind faith but their secret is known to Allah Alone. This Hadith has an inducement for offering more and more supplications for the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) so that the devotee is blessed with the maximum reward in the form of the Prophet's image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) response to his salutations. It is certainly a great blessing which a Muslim should try every nerve to achieve.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 54-55

Ayat 54. Whether you reveal anything or conceal it, verily, Allah is Ever All Knower of everything.
Ayat 55. It is no sin on them (the Prophet's image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) wives, if they appear unveiled) before their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their brother's sons, or the sons of their sisters, or their own (believing) women, or their (female) slaves, and keeps your duty to Allah. Verily, Allah is Ever All Witness over everything.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 54. Whether ye reveal anything or conceal it, verily Allah has full knowledge of all things.Respect or opposition may be shown overtly or in devious hidden ways. All good and evil are open before Allah, and He will take due account of everything.
Ayat 55. There is no blame (on these ladies if they appear) before their fathers or their sons, their brothers, or their brother´s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their women, or the (slaves) whom their right hands possess. And, (ladies), fear Allah, for Allah is Witness to all things. This refers back to the Hijab (screen) portion of verse 53 above. The list of those before whom the Prophet's image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) wives could appear informally without a screen is their fathers, sons, brothers, brothers 1 or sisters' sons, serving women, and household slaves or servants. Commentators include uncles (paternal and maternal) under the heading of "fathers". Their woman is held to mean all women who belonged to the Muslim community: other women were in the position of strangers, whom they received not so intimately, but with the formality of a screen as in the case of men. Compare with this list and the wording here the list and the wording in 24:31, which applies to all Muslim women. In the list here, husbands and husbands' relatives are not necessary to be mentioned, as we are speaking of a single household, that of the central figure in Islam, nor men-servants nor children, as there were none. In the wording note that for Muslim women generally, no screen or Hijab (Pardah) is mentioned, but only a veil to cover the bosom, and modesty in dress. The screen was a special feature of honour for the Prophet's image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)household, introduced about five or six years before his death.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Abu Bakar asked, "O Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)! Teach me some words so that I may recite them in the morning and in the evening.'' The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Recite these words: `Allahumma fatiras-samawati wal-ardi, `alimal-ghaibi wash-shahadati, Rabba kulli shai'in wa malikahu. Ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, A’udhu bika min sharri nafsi, wa sharrish-Shaitani wa shirkihi (O Allah! Creator of the heavens and the earth! Knower of the hidden and the exposed! Rubb of everything and everyone. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped but You. I seek Your Protection from the evil of my own self from the evil of Satan and from the evil of Shirk to which he calls).''' The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) added: "Recite these words in the morning and the evening and when you go to bed.'' [Abu Dawud Hadith # 5067 and At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3392].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 55. “Allah is Ever All Witness over everything” It is desirable to recite the invocations cited in the Hadith in the morning and the evening and also when one goes to bed and awakes. The purpose is that the concept of Allah's Providence and Divinity remains alive all the time in one's mind. With these words one seeks Allah's Protection in life and the Hereafter from things which are harmful. One also begs for his safety and guidance in this life and the Hereafter. This Hadith fully expresses one's recognition of Allah's Godhood and Lordship.
