[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 23-24

Ayat 23. You (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), are only a warner (i.e. your duty is to convey Allah’s Message to mankind but the guidance is in Allah’s Hand).
Ayat 24. Verily! We have sent you with the truth (Al-Quran), a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner. And there never was a nation but a warner had passed among them.

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 23 and 24. Thou art no other than a warner. The function of a Prophet is to preach Allah's Truth, to point out the right Way, to show men the need of repentance, and to warn them against the dangers which they incur by living a life of evil. He cannot compel them to accept the Truth or listen to the Message.
Ayat 24. Verily We have sent thee in truth, as a bearer of glad tidings, and as a warner: and there never was a people, without a warner having lived among them (in the past).  It is Allah Who sends the Revelation. While there is warning in it for the heedless, there is good news (in Christian terms, the gospel) for those who listen and repent. The warning always came to all peoples before punishment.

Hazrat Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur'an and abases others.'' [Muslim Book 04, Chapter 138, Hadith # 1780]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 24. Verily! We have sent you with the truth (Al-Quran), a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner.” Only such people will be elevated who act upon the teachings of the Qur'an and abstain from what is forbidden by Allah. The Muslims of the early centuries of Islam were blessed with great honour by Allah because they loved and applied the Qur'an. Because of this meaningful attachment with the Qur'an, they made great achievements in religious and worldly spheres. Those who neglected the teachings of Islam will be disgraced and humiliated. May Allah guide and enable us to re-establish our contact with the Qur'an so that we can regain our past glory. Exaltation and humiliation mentioned in the Hadith is bound to happen in both this life and the Hereafter.

[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 19-22

Ayat 19. Not alike are the blind (disbelievers in Islamic Monotheism) and the seeing (believers in Islamic Monotheism).
Ayat 20. Nor are (alike) the darkness (disbelief) and the light (Belief in Islamic Monotheism).
Ayat 21. Nor are (alike) the shade and the sun's heat.
Ayat 22. Nor are (alike) the living (believers) and the dead (disbelievers). Verily, Allah makes whom He will hear, but You (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), cannot make hear those who are in graves.

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 19, 20, 21 and 22. The blind and the seeing are not alike; Now we are offered some contrasts between those who obey Allah's Law and are thus citizens of Allah's Kingdom and those who are rebels against Allah's Kingdom and are thus oudaws. How can they be considered alike? The godly are like those who see, as contrasted with those who are blind; and their motives and actions are like the purest and highest Light, contrasted with the depths of darkness; or, to take another metaphor, their lives are like the genial and warmth giving heat of the sun, which benefits all who come within its influence, contrasted with the chilly shadows of gloom in which no vegetation flourishes. Ayat 20. Nor are the depths of Darkness and the Light; Ayat 21. Nor are the (chilly) shade and the (genial) heat of the sun: Ayat 22. Nor are alike those that are living and those that are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou canst not make those to hear who are (buried) in graves. The final contrast between the Living and the Dead; those whose future has in it the promise of growth and fulfillment, and those who are inert and on the road to perish. With Allah everything is possible: He can give Life to the Dead. But the human Teacher should not expect that people who are (spiritually) dead and buried will by any chance hear his call.

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it has illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waists ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands". [Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 22. Nor are (alike) the living (believers) and the dead (disbelievers). Verily, Allah makes whom He will hear, but You (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), cannot make hear those who are in graves.” This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection and ardor of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same way moths fall in the fire.

[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 18

Ayat 18. And no bearer of burdens shall bear another's burden, and if one heavily laden calls another to (bear) his load, nothing of it will be lifted even though he be near of kin. You (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), can warn only those who fear their Lord unseen, and performAs-Salat (Iqamatas Salat). And he who purifies himself (from all kinds of sins), then he purifies only for the benefit of his own self. And to Allah is the (final) Return (of all).

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 18. Nor can a bearer of burdens bear another´s burdens if one heavily laden should call another to (bear) his load. Not the least portion of it can be carried (by the other). Even though he be nearly related. Thou canst but admonish such as fear their Lord unseen and establish regular Prayer. And whoever purifies himself does so for the benefit of his own soul; and the destination (of all) is to Allah. Bearer: waziratun: feminine in Arabic, as referring to the soul (nafs), as in 6:164 and 53:38. Natural relationship may be considered as a reasonable cause or opportunity for bearing each other's burdens. For example, a mother or a father might offer to die for her or his child, and vice versa. But this does not apply to spiritual matters. There the responsibility is strictly personal and cannot be transferred to another. In 29:13 we are told that the misleaders "will bear other burdens along with their own": but the context shows that the "other" burdens are the burdens of deluding the others with their falsehoods. Both sins are their own, viz., their original sin, and the sin of deluding the others. But the responsibility will be doubled. B'il Ghaib: unseen in the adverbial sense. The man, who, though he does not see Allah, so realizes Allah's Presence in himself as if he saw Him, is the man of genuine Faith, and for him Allah's Revelation comes through many channels and is always fruitful. (Cf. 36:11). Prayer is one of the means of purifying ourselves of lower motives in life, for in prayer we seek the Presence of Allah; but the purity which we seek is for our own souls: we confer no favor on Allah or on any Power in the spiritual world, as some imagine who make "gifts" to Allah. In any case the destination of all is to Allah.

Hazrat Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That which differentiates us from the disbelievers and hypocrites is our performance of Salat. He who abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.'' [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2621]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 18. “(O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), can warn only those who fear their Lord unseen, and perform As-Salat (Iqamatas Salat). And he who purifies himself (from all kinds of sins)” This Hadith makes the importance of Salat in Islam abundantly clear. The opinion of the Companions of the Prophet  image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) was based on the information contained in the Ahadith which have been mentioned above. They did not take the Ahadith which interpreted the leaving of Salat as Kufr mere scolding or reproof. They considered slackness and negligence in Salat as Kufr and apostasy and regarded Salat a symbol of Islam.

[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 15-17

Ayat 15. O mankind! It is you who stand in need of Allah, but Allah is Rich (Free of all wants and needs), Worthy of all praise.
Ayat 16. If He will, He could destroy you and bring about a new creation.
Ayat 17. And that is not hard for Allah.

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 15, 16 and 17. O ye men! It is ye that have need of Allah. but Allah is the One Free of all wants, worthy of all praise. What is man that Allah should care for him, instruct him, and send him special messengers to warn him of danger and harm? It is man that depends on Allah and has need of Him every moment of his life. Allah has no need of him, but He bestows His Grace on him as on all His creatures, out of His unbounded Mercy and loving kindness. If it were Allah's Will, He could blot out man for his rebellion and create an entirely new world. Ayat 16. If He so pleased, He could blot you out and bring in a New Creation. Ayat 17. Nor is that (at all) difficult for Allah. There is no limit to Allah's creative power, nor is His creative energy anything rare or unusual. This is the force of the word 'Aziz here. Allah's creative energy is exercised every moment, and it is the normal condition in the universe.

Hazrat Abu Dharr Jandab bin Junadah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious, said; 'O My slaves, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and jinn of you to be as pious as the most pious heart of any man of you, that would not increase My domain a thing. O My slaves, were the first of you, and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to be as wicked as the most wicked heart of any man of you, that would not decrease My domain in a thing.''. [Muslim Book 032, Chapter 13, Hadith # 6246].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 15. O mankind! it is you who stand in need of Allah, but Allah is Rich (Free of all wants and needs)” This Hadith mentions the Power and Majesty of Allah and stresses that one should supplicate Allah for everything that one needs. From guidance to sustenance, the treasures of everything are with Him - the treasures which are unlimited and any withdrawal from them does not make any reduction in them. Similar is the case of His Sovereignty; it is not affected even if the whole universe supports or opposes them. Thus, it is in the interest of man that he should dedicate himself entirely to Allah and beg all his needs from Him and Him Alone.

[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 14

Ayat 14. If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), like Him Who is the All Knower (of each and everything).

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 14. If ye invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the Day of Judgment they will reject your "Partnership". and none, (O man!) can tell thee (the Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all things. False or imaginary objects of worship serve no purpose whatever. They cannot hear; if they could hear, they could not grant prayers or petitions. In fact, if they are real creatures, such as angels or deified human beings, they will very rightly repudiate any such worship as brings them into competition or "partnership" with Allah. Cf. 10:28 also 34:40-41. No false ideas or false impressions will remain when true values are restored. Why not then accept the Truth now in this life, and get on to the true path of Grace? None can tell you the Truth better than He Who is All-Wise and All-Knowing. Why not accept His Message and receive His guidance?

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The most truthful statement a poet has ever made is the saying of Labid: Everything besides Allah is vain.''
[Al-Bukhari Book 05, Chapter 58, Hadith # 181]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 14. If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call, and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you.” 1. We learn from this Hadith that to compose, recite and quote good verses, as evidence, is permissible. 2. The Verse of Labid, quoted in this Hadith, is the same effect as the verdict of the Noble Qur'an: "Whatsoever is on (the earth) will perish." (55:26). This Verse accepts the eternity of the Afterlife and the transitory nature of this world.

[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 13

Ayat 13. He merges the night into the day (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the night are added to the hours of the day), and He merges the day into the night (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the day are added to the hours of the night). And He has subjected the sun and the moon, each runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord; His is the kingdom. And those, whom you invoke or call upon instead of Him, own not even a Qitmir (the thin membrane over the date stone).

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 13. He merges Night into Day, and he merges Day into Night, and he has subjected the sun and the moon (to His Law): each one runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord: to Him belongs all Dominion. And those whom ye invoke besides Him have not the least power. Cf. 22:61. The phases of Light in nature may have other uses. But for man they mark periods of rest and activity, and-have great influence on his physical, moral, and spiritual life. Cf. 13:2. The sun and the moon mark phases of light, and serve man during the periods of the day and night. The sun marks the seasons, and is the source of heat and energy and physical life for the whole solar system. The sun and the moon run according to fixed laws, and they will continue to do so, not forever, but for the period appointed for their duration by Allah. Allah's might and majesty, and Allah's goodness and wisdom, having been shown by a few examples, it follows that it is folly to seek or worship any other power but Allah. It only throws off man into false paths, and takes him farther and farther away from the Truth. Qitmir. the thin, white skin that covers the date stone. It has neither strength nor texture, and has no value whatever. Any one relying on any power other than that of Allah relies on nothing whatever. The Qitmir is worse than the proverbial "broken reed", Cf. 4:53 and 4:124, where the word naqir, 'the groove in a date stone', is used similarly for a thing of no value or significance.

Hazrat Abu Dharr Jandab bin Junadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, and Glorious, said; 'O My slaves, were the first of you and the last of you, the human of you and the jinn of you to stand in one place and make a request of Me, and were I to give everyone what he requested, that would not decrease what I have, any more than a needle decrease the sea if put into it. O My slaves, it is but your deeds that I reckon for you and then recompense you for, so let him who finds good (i.e., in the Hereafter) praise Allah and let him who finds other than that blame no one but himself.''' [Muslim Book 032, Chapter 13, Hadith # 6246].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 13. “Such is Allah your Lord; His is the kingdom”This Hadith mentions the Power and Majesty of Allah and stresses that one should supplicate Allah for everything that one needs.

[35].Surah Fatir [The Originator of Creation]: Ayat 12

Ayat 12. And the two seas (kinds of water) are not alike, this fresh sweet, and pleasant to drink, and that saltish and bitter. And from them both you eat fresh tender meat (fish), and derive the ornaments that you wear. And you see the ships cleaving (the seawater as they sail through it), that you may seek of His Bounty, and that you may give thanks.

Tafseer of Surah Fatir Ayat 12. Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike, the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful. See 25:53. The great salt Ocean with its seas and gulfs is all one; and the great masses of sweet water in rivers, lakes, ponds, and underground springs are also one; and each is connected with the other by the constant circulation going on, which sucks up vapors, carries them about in clouds or atmospheric moisture, and again brings them condensed into water or snow or hail to mingle with rivers and streams and get back into the Ocean. For this whole passage see 16:14. Both from the sea and from rivers and lakes we get fish, of which some kinds have a flesh particularly fresh and tender, and of a most delicate flavor. Such as pearls and coral from the sea, and such delicately tinted stones as the 'Aqiq (car-nelian), the agate, the goldstone, or other varieties of quartz pebbles found in riverbeds, and considered as gems. Many such are found in the Ken river in Banda District (in India). Some river sands also yield minute quantities of gold. In large navigable rivers and big lakes like those of North America, as well as in the sea, there are highways for shipping and commerce. (R).

Hazrat Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The similitude of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like a rain which has fallen on some ground. A fertile part of earth has absorbed water and brought forth much grass and herbs. Another part, which is solid, held the water and Allah benefits men thereby, who drank and gave others to drink, and used it for irrigation. But some of it has fallen on a portion of sandy land which neither retains the water nor produces herbage. Such is the likeness of the man who understands the religion of Allah and who gets benefit of what Allah has sent me with; he learns and teaches others. It is also the likeness of the man who neither raises his head on that account (meaning he does not benefit from what the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) was sent with) nor accepts Allah's Guidance with which I am sent". [Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 03, Hadith # 079]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Fatir Ayat 12. that you may seek of His Bounty, and that you may give thanks” In this Hadith the guidance and knowledge which was sent to mankind through the Prophet (PBUH) is compared to the rain which is beneficial, because this knowledge resuscitates the dead hearts as does the rain to a barren land. One who makes use of this knowledge is likened to a good soil, and one who acquires this knowledge and imparts it to others but does not put it into practice is considered akin to a hard land which holds water and other people utilize it. A person who neither learns it nor acts upon it is like a desolate land which neither holds water nor produces anything. Such a person is the worst of all because he neither himself benefits from it nor lets others make use of it. This Hadith induces one to acquire knowledge, impart it to others, put it into actual practice and warns people from neglecting this duty.
