[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 49

Ayat 49. And the Book (one's Record) will be placed (in the right hand for a believer in the Oneness of Allah, and in the left hand for a disbeliever in the Oneness of Allah), and you will see the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.), fearful of that which is (recorded) therein. They will say: "Woe to us! What sort of Book is this that leaves neither a small thing nor a big thing, but has recorded it with numbers!" And they will find all that they did, placed before them, and your Lord treats no one with injustice. [Tafseer] (And the Book is placed) on people's right and left hands; the scrolls fell on people's hands like snow flakes, (and thou seest the guilty) the idolaters and the hypocrites (fearful of that which is therein) in the Book, (and they say: What Kind of a book is this that leaveth not a small thing) of our deeds (nor a great thing) it is said that the small thing is a smile and the great thing is laughter (but has counted it) except that it is preserved and written down! (And they find all that they did) of good or evil (confronting them) written down, (and thy Lord wrongeth no one) He does not decrease the good deeds of anyone nor increase the evil deeds of anyone; it is also said that this means: He does not diminish the good deeds of the believer nor leave the evil deeds of the unbeliever.
Hazrat Samurah bin Jundub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Among the people of Hell are there those who will be emersed in fire to their ankles, some to their knees, some to their waists, and some to their throats".
[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 12, Hadith # 6815].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 49. "you will see the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.), fearful of that which is (recorded) therein" This Hadith tells us that the inhabitants of Jannah will be classified into different categories and enjoy different kinds of luxuries according to their merits. A similar classification will also be made in the inhabitants of Hell and they will suffer torments according to their misdeeds.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 48

Ayat 48. And they will be set before your Lord in (lines as) rows, (and Allah will say): "Now indeed, you have come to Us as We created you the first time. Nay, but you thought that We had appointed no meeting for you (with Us)."
[Tafseer] (And they are set before thy Lord) they were led before your Lord (in ranks) all together, and Allah says to them: (Now verily have ye come unto Us as We created you at the first) without wealth or children. (But you thought) you said in the life of the world (that We had set no tryst for you) that We had set no appointed term for the Resurrection.

Hazrat Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) as saying, "Mankind will stand before Allah, the Rubb of the worlds (on the Day of Resurrection), some of them will stand submerged in perspiration up to half of their ears".
[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 460].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 48. "And they will be set before your Lord in (lines as) rows" This Hadith gives us a glimpse of the horrible scene of the Resurrection when people will stand in awe before Allah.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 47

Ayat 47. And (remember) the Day (of Resurrection) We shall cause the mountains to pass away (like clouds of dust), and you will see the earth as a leveled plain, and we shall gather them all together so as to leave not one of them behind.
[Tafseer] (And (bethink you of) the Day when We remove the hills) from the face of the earth (and ye see the earth emerging) from beneath mountains, (and We gather them) for the Resurrection (together so as to leave not one of them behind).
Hazrat Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said "There will be afflictions (in the near future) during which a sitting person will be better than a standing one, and the standing one will be better than the walking one, and the walking one will be better than the running one, and whoever will expose himself to these afflictions, they will destroy him. So whoever can find a place of protection or refuge from them, should take shelter in it."
[Bukhari Book.09, Chapter 88, Hadith # 202].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 47. "And (remember) the Day (of Resurrection)" There would be such disasters and agony in the world that people will prefer death to life under such conditions. This situation will arise before the Day of Resurrection, and the Day of Judgement will dawn on such wicked people.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 46

Ayat 46. Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world. But the good righteous deeds (five compulsory prayers, deeds of Allah's obedience, good and nice talk, remembrance of Allah with glorification, praises and thanks, etc.), that last, are better with your Lord for rewards and better in respect of hope.

Hazrat Abdullah bin `Amr bin Al-`as (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: We were repairing our thatchy hut when Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) passed by and asked us, "What are you doing?'' We said, "The thatch had gone weak and we are repairing it.'' He [SAWW](PBUH) said, "I see the sure thing (death) approaching sooner than this.'' [Abu Dawud Hadith # 2335].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 46. "Wealth and children are the adornment of the life of this world" The word "Khuss'' means a hut or a house which is made of wood and reed/bamboo and plastered with mud. The Hadith reminds us to be mindful of death at all times and be certain that there is nothing nearer to us than it. It also tells us that we should not engage in those worldly things which are bound to make us forget about our appointed term in this world.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 45

Ayat 45. And put forward to them the example of the life of this world, it is like the water (rain) which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingles with it, and becomes fresh and green. But (later) it becomes dry and broken pieces, which the winds scatter. And Allah is Able to do everything.
[Tafseer] (And coin for them) explain to the people of Mecca (the similitude of the life of the world) in its permanence and evanescence (as water) as rain (which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingleth with it) the water mixes with the vegetation of the earth (and then becomes dry twigs that the winds scatter) such that nothing remains of it. Likewise, the life of this world will vanish and nothing of its adornment will remain. (Allah is Able to do all things) He is Able to make the life of this world vanish and the Hereafter subsist.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said: "Do not crave for property lest you should be absorbed in the desire of worldly life.''
[At-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 2328].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 45. "the example of the life of this world" The word "Dai`ah'' translated here as "property'' means land, industry, agriculture or business. One should not be so engrossed in them to the extent that, they become the sole purpose of one's life and all one's efforts are exhausted to acquire them, thus forgetting all about the Hereafter. To the extent of one's genuine needs and self-sufficiency, making and maintaining of property, land, industry, agriculture and commerce come in permissible acts. None of them is forbidden provided the means employed for making and maintaining them are fair and do not distract one's attention from Allah and the Hereafter.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 42-44

Ayat 42. So his fruits were encircled (with ruin). And he remained clapping his hands with sorrow over what he had spent upon it, while it was all destroyed on its trellises, he could only say: "Would I had ascribed no partners to my Lord!"
Ayat 43. And he had no group of men to help him against Allah, nor could he defend or save himself.
Ayat 44. There (on the Day of Resurrection), Al-Walayah (the protection, power, authority and kingdom) will be for Allah (Alone), the True God. He (Allah) is the Best for reward and the Best for the final end. (Lâ ilaha ill-Allah none has the right to be worshipped but Allah).
[Tafseer] (And his fruit was beset (with destruction)) his garden was destroyed; or, according to another reading: his wealth was destroyed. (Then began he to wring his hands) out of regret (for all that he had spent upon it) upon the garden; it is also said that this means: upon all the fruits it contained, (when (now) it was all ruined on its trellises, and to say) on the Day of Judgment: (Would that I had ascribed no partner to my Lord!) would that I had ascribed no idols to my Lord! (And he had no troop of men to help him as against Allah) i.e. against Allah's punishment, (nor could he save himself) from Allah's punishment. (In this case is protection only from Allah) i.e. on the Day of Judgment, dominion and sovereignty belong only to Allah, (the True) the Just. (He is best for reward) He is the best of those who reward, (and best for consequence) and the One who gives the best outcome.
Hazrat Abdullah bin `Umar bin Al-Khattab (May Allah be pleased with them) reported that: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah accepts a slave's repentance as long as the latter is not on his death bed (that is, before the soul of the dying person reaches the throat)".
[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3537].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 42. "he could only say: "Would I had ascribed no partners to my Lord!" The word Ghargharah means the stage when soul is about to leave the body and reaches the throat. In other words, the time when one suffers the agony of death.
