[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 56

Ayat 56. And We send not the Messengers except as giver of glad tidings and warners. But those who disbelieve, dispute with false argument, in order to refute the truth thereby. And they treat My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and that with which they are warned, as jest and mockery!
[Tafseer] (We send not the messengers save as bearers of good news) Paradise for the believers (and warners) against hell for the disbelievers. (Those who disbelieve) in the scriptures and messengers (contend with falsehood) with idolatry (in order to refute) to nullify (the Truth) and guidance (thereby. And they take Our revelations) Our scriptures and messengers (and that wherewith they are threatened) of chastisement (as a jest) and mockery. The Prophets of Allah are not sent to humour us with dialectics or satisfy the vulgar curiosity for miracles of dark unusual things. There is no "crookedness" (18:1) in their preaching. They come to preach the Truth-not in an abstract way, but with special reference to our conduct. They give us the good news of salvation lest we despair in the presence of Sin, and to warn us clearly of the dangers of Evil. Vain controversies about words only weaken their mission, or turn it into ridicule. The ungodly have a trick also of treating the earnest preaching to them itself as a jest and ridicule it.

Hazrat Ibn `Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported that the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) used to supplicate: "O Allah! To You I have submitted, and in You do I believe, and in You I put my trust, to You do I turn, and for You I argued. O Allah, I seek refuge with You through Your Power; there is none worthy of worship except You Alone; that You safeguard me against going astray. You are the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists; the One Who never dies, whereas human beings and jinn will all die".  [Muslim Book 04, Chapter 127, Hadith # 1739].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 56. "We send not the Messengers except as giver of glad tidings and warners" Even in the worst circumstances one should always have faith and trust in Allah, Allah (SWT) says "I am just as My slave thinks of Me when he remembers Me". Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His slave then any thing else. This Hadith highlights the merits of expecting good treatment of Allah. But this has to be backed by good actions, in the same way as one can hope for good results after ploughing and sowing seeds. It is obvious that one who accomplishes good deeds will expect good consequences, and one who does evil deeds will expect evil consequences. Allah will treat people according to their expectation that are founded on their actions, and the reward will match their deeds.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 55

Ayat 55. And nothing prevents men from believing, now when the guidance (the Qur'an) has come to them, and from asking Forgiveness of their Lord, except that the ways of the ancients be repeated with them (i.e. their destruction decreed by Allah), or the torment be brought to them face to face? [Tafseer] But man's obstinacy or contrariness asks or calls for a repetition of what happened to the wicked and those who rejected Faith in ancient times. Out of curiosity, or by way of challenge, they seem to court the Punishment and ask that it be brought to pass at once. But it will come soon enough, and then they will think it too early! (And naught hindered mankind) the people of Mecca, those who sponsored the army that fought against Muslims at Badr (from believing) in Muhammad (PBUH), and in the Qur'an (when the guidance) Muhammad (PBUH) and the Qur'an (cometh unto them, and from asking for forgiveness of their Lord) repent of disbelief and accept faith, (unless (it be that they wish) that the judgment of the men of old should come upon them) unless the destruction of the people of old should seize them (or (that) they should be confronted) on the Day of Badr (with the Doom) with the sword.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah, the Exalted, becomes angry, and His Anger is provoked when a person does what Allah has declared unlawful.''
[Al-Bukhari Book 07, Chapter 62, Hadith # 150].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 55. "and from asking Forgiveness of their Lord"This Hadith warns us against committing sins and all that Allah has forbidden in order to avoid exciting the anger of Allah.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 54

Ayat 54. And indeed We have put forth every kind of example in this Qur'an, for mankind. But, man is ever more quarrelsome than anything.
[Tafseer] (And verily We have displayed) We have explained (for mankind) for the people of Mecca (in this Qur'an all manner of similitude's) all forms of threats and promises in order that they take heed and, hence, believe, (but man is more than anything contentious) in respect to falsehood; it is also said that this means: no one is more contentious than man. If men had not cultivated the habit of contention and obstinacy, they would have found that the parables and similitude's of Scripture had fully met their difficulties, and they would gladly have obeyed the call.
Hazrat Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.''  [Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 61, Hadith # 545].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 54. "We have put forth every kind of example in this Qur'an" This Hadith tells us excellence of people who learn Quran and then spend there time teaching to others.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 53

Ayat 53. And the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners), shall see the Fire and apprehend that they have to fall therein. And they will find no way of escape from there.
[Tafseer] (And the guilty) and the idolaters (behold the Fire and know from distance as far as 40 years of travelling) and are ascertained (that they are about to fall therein) that they shall enter the Fire, (and they find no way of escape thence):"
Hazrat Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Jannah is nearer to you than your shoelace, and so is the (Hell) Fire".
[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 495].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 53. "And the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners), shall see the Fire" Jannah is close to him who adopts the path of righteousness and he can easily attain it. Its opposite case is also equally true. He is close to Hell who takes the path of evil. Thus, this Hadith has an inducement for virtue and warning against evil.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 52

Ayat 52. And (remember) the Day Allah will say:"Call those (so-called) partners of Mine whom you pretended." Then they will cry unto them, but they will not answer them, and We shall put Maubiqa (a barrier, or enmity, or destruction, or a valley in Hell) between them.
[Tafseer] "And We shall make a partition between them": i.e., the Evil ones will not even be seen by their misguided followers, much as the latter may go on calling on them. (And (be mindful of) the Day) which is the Day of Judgement (when He will say) to idol worshippers: (Call those partners of Mine) i.e. your deities (whom ye pretended) whom you worshipped and claimed they were My partners so that they defend you against my chastisement. (Then they will cry unto them, but they will not hear their prayer) they did not respond to them, (and We shall set a gulf of doom between them) We shall set a valley of fire between the worshippers and those who were worshipped; it is also said that this means: We set destruction between them in the Hereafter instead of the love and affection which was between them in the life of this world.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: One day, I was riding behind The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) when he said, "O boy! I will instruct you in some matters. Be watchful of Allah (Commandments of Allah), He will preserve you. Safeguard His Rights, He will be ever with you. If you beg, beg of Him Alone; and if you need assistance, supplicate to Allah Alone for help. And remember that if all the people gather to benefit you, they will not be able to benefit you except that which Allah had foreordained (for you); and if all of them gather to do harm to you, they will not be able to afflict you with anything other than that which Allah had pre-destined against you. The pens had been lifted and the ink had dried up".
Another narration is: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Safeguard the Commandments of Allah, you will find Him before you. Remember Him in prosperity and He will remember you in adversity. Be sure that which you miss, was not to hit you; and what hits you, was never to miss you. Remember that the Help of Allah is obtained with patience, and relief emerges after distress, prosperity follows adversity, and hardship is followed by ease".
[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2516].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 52. "Call those (so-called) partners of Mine whom you pretended" This Hadith brings out 3 points.
1. No one has the power to change the Decision of Allah.
2. Whatever trouble one has to suffer in this world, it does not last for ever. Every trouble is followed by prosperity, pleasure and happiness.
3. One should never ask other than Allah anyone's help in supernatural way because it amounts to ascribing partnership with Allah. If a person is mindful of the Rights of Allah, then Allah, in return takes care of his needs and helps him.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 51

Ayat 51. I (Allah) made them (Iblis and his offspring) not to witness (nor took their help in) the creation of the heavens and the earth and not (even) their own creation, nor was I (Allah) to take the misleaders as helpers. [Tafseer] Allah wants man's good: how can He take Evil for His partner? (ALLAH made them not) i.e. the angels and the satans (to witness the creation of the heavens and the earth) when Allah created them, (nor their own creation) when Allah created them; it is also said that this means: Allah did not seek the help of angels and satans to create the heavens and the earth or to create them; (nor choose I misleaders) the disbelievers, the Jews, Christians and idol worshippers (for (My) helpers).
Hazrat Al-Mughirah bin Shu`bah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) used to say at the conclusion of prayer: "La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul-mulku, wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa `ala kulli shai'in Qadir. Allahumma la mani`a lima a'tayta, wa la mu`tiya lima mana`ta, wa la yanfa`u dhal-jaddi, minkal-jaddu (there is no true god except Allah. He is One and He has no partner with Him, His is the sovereignty and His is the praise, and He is Omnipotent. O Allah! None can deny that which You bestow and none can bestow that which You hold back; and the greatness of the great will be of no avail to them against You).''
[Al-Bukhari Book 09, Chapter 92, Hadith # 395].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 51. "(Allah) to take the misleaders as helpers" "Al-Jaddu'' means good luck and richness. That is, good fortune and prosperity will not be of any avail before Allah. What will really benefit a person before Him are Faith and virtuous deeds. The prayer quoted in this Hadith makes a special mention of His Oneness.

[18].Surah Al-Kahf [The Cave]: Ayat 50

Ayat 50. And (remember) when We said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam." So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc).
[Tafseer] (And (remember) when We said unto the angels) who were on the earth: (Fall prostrate before Adam) a prostration of greeting, (and they fell prostrate, all save Iblis) their leader. (He was of the jinn) of the tribe of the jinn, (so he rebelled against his Lord's command) he disobeyed his Lord and refused to prostrate to Adam. (Will ye choose him) will you worship him (and his seed for your protecting friends) as lords (instead of Me) instead of Allah, (when they are an enemy unto you) whose enmity is quite manifest? (Calamitous is the exchange) in worship; it is also said that this means: evil is that which they exchanged: they exchanged the worship of Allah with the worship of Satan; and it is also said: they exchanged the protecting friendship of Allah with the protecting friendship of Satan (for evil-doers) for idolaters!

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Angels were created from light, jinns were created from a smokeless flame of fire, and `Adam was created from that which you have been told (i.e., sounding clay like the clay of pottery).''
[Muslim Book 42, Chapter 12, Hadith # 7134].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Kahf Ayat 50. "So they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns;" The angels are the creation of Allah which He created from light. Their bodies are so subtle that they can assume any form they like. The jinn are also an unperceptible creation of Allah. They have also been bestowed with such powers as are not possessed by humans. Satan also belongs to the jinn. Man has been created from sounding clay. The Hadith states the Great and the Perfect Powers of Allah that He can create whatever He likes from whatever He likes, and He can do whatever He wishes.
