[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks): Ayat 171-175

Ayat 171. And, verily, Allah’s Word has gone forth of old for his servants, the Messengers,
Ayat 172. That they verily would be made triumphant.
Ayat 173. And that Allah’s hosts, they verily would be the victors.
Ayat 174. So turn away (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) from them for a while,
Ayat 175. And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)!

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 171. Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Allah), Ayat 172. That they would certainly be assisted, Ayat 173. And that Allah's forces, - they surely must conquer. The victory will be the victory of Allah's Truth by the forces of Allah, but every soldier in the army of Truth, who has done his duty, will be entitled to claim a share in the victory. Ayat 174. So turn thou away from them for a little while, Addressed in the first instance to the Prophet, but good for all time. He was not to be discouraged by his initial failures. Soon came victory to him from Allah. So is it always in the struggles of truth and righteousness. The righteous can afford to ignore opposition, confident in the strength which comes from the Grace of Allah. Ayat 175. And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! Watch and wait, for the Right must come to its own.

Hazrat Jarir bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who is deprived of forbearance and gentleness is, in fact, deprived of all good.'' [Muslim Book 32, Chapter 21, Hadith # 6272]

This Hadith brings out that Allah enjoins softness and dislikes stiffness in human relations. Allah assures of reward for gentle behavior in society, not for unkindness or anything like that. However, inflexibility is preferred to flexibility when there arises a question of religious matters and the limits set by Allah.

[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks): Ayat 167-170

Ayat 167. And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say;
Ayat 168. "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) as a Messenger of Allah).
Ayat 169. "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!"
Ayat 170. But (now that the Qur’an has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Qur’an and in Prophet Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know!

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 167 to 170. And there were those who said,There were the sceptics or Unbelievers—primarily the Pagan Arabs, but in a more extended sense, all who doubt Allah's providence or revelation. Ayat 168. "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, Ayat 169. "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" Such men take refuge in ancestral tradition. If our forefathers had had an inkling of Revelation or miracles, or had worshipped as we are now taught to worship, we should gladly have accepted. Or if they had had anything of the miracles which other nations of old are said to have received, we could then have accepted.' But now stronger and more convincing proofs have come to them in the Qur'an in their own tongue, and they doubt and reject it. Ayat 170. But (now that the Qur´an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! Allah's Truth will manifest itself against all odds, and the whole world will see.
Hazrat Ibn Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said to me: "Recite the Qur'an to me". I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Shall I recite the Qur'an to you, when it has been revealed to you?'' He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "I love to hear it recited by others". So I recited to him a portion from Surat An-Nisa'. When I reached the Ayah: "How (will it be) then, whenWe bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) as a witness against these people?". (4:41) He image001.jpg  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Enough for now". When I looked at him I saw his eyes were shedding tears. [Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 106].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Saffat Ayat 170. “all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! ” This Hadith tells us that besides the recitation of the Noble Qur'an, a Muslim should also listen to it from others so that he can contemplate further on it. It also makes one weep when one listens to the Noble Qur'an.

[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks): Ayat 164-166

Ayat 164. There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position);
Ayat 165. Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers);
Ayat 166. Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah’s Praises i.e. perform prayers).

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 164 to 166. (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; To round off the argument of the Surah we go back to the idea with which it began. Those who range themselves in ranks for the united service of Allah (see 37:1)—whether angels or men of God—are content to keep their ranks and do whatever service is assigned to them. It is not for them to question Allah's Plan, because they know that it is good and that it will ultimately triumph. Any seeming delays or defeats do not worry them. Nor do they ever break their ranks. Ayat 165. "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service); Ayat 166."And we are verily those who declare ((Allah)´s) glory!"
Hazrat Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "I see what you do not see and I hear what you do not hear; heaven has squeaked, and it has right to do so. By Him, in Whose Hand my soul is, there is not a space of four fingers in which there is not an angel who is prostrating his forehead before Allah, the Exalted. By Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little, weep much, and you would not enjoy women in beds, but would go out to the open space beseeching Allah". [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2312]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Saffat Ayat 166. Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah’s Praises i.e. perform prayers). This Hadith also highlights the importance of fear of Allah because the more awareness a Muslim has of the Majesty and Magnificence of Allah, the greater shall be the terror in his heart for His punishment and hope of His Mercy. With this state of mind, he will perform greater acts of obedience and abstain more rigidly from sins. 2. The Hadith also mentions the heaven teeming with angels who are all the time prostrating before Allah in worship. When this is the condition of the angels, who do not slack for a moment in the obedience of Allah, how important it is for man to worship Him because he is all the time violating commands of Allah. It is, therefore, incumbent on man to obey Allah and always seek His Help and Refuge.

[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks): Ayat 160-163

Ayat 160. Except the slaves of Allah, whom He chooses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah).
Ayat 161. So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols).
Ayat 162. Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers],
Ayat 163. Except those who are predestined to burn in Hell!

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 160 to 163. Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. Those sincere in devotion to Allah never ascribe such degrading ideas to Allah (Cf. 37:74). 161. For, verily, neither ye nor those ye worship- 162. Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, Evil has no power over faith, truth, and sincerity. Such power as it has is over those who deliberately put themselves in the way of Destruction. It is their own will that leads them astray. If they were fortified against Evil by Faith, Patience, and Constancy, Evil would have no power to hurt them. Allah would protect them, 163. Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!
Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said, "My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it has illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waists ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands".
[Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Saffat Ayat 160. Except the slaves of Allah, whom He chooses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah)” This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection and ardor of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same way moths fall in the fire.

[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks): Ayat 158-159

Ayat 158. And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinn’s, but the jinn’s know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts).
Ayat 159. Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him!

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 158. And they have invented a blood-relationship between Him and the Jinns: but the Jinns know (quite well) that they have indeed to appear (before his Judgment- Seat)! The angels are at least pure beings engaged in the service of Allah. But the Pagan superstitions not only connect them with Allah as daughters but even connect Allah by relationship with all kinds of spirits, good or evil! In some mythologies the most evil powers are gods or goddesses as if they belonged to the family of Allah the Creator and had some semblance of equality with Him! This, too, is repudiated in the strongest terms. For Jinns see 6:100. Ayat 159. Glory to Allah. (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)!
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said: "Glorify your Lord in Ruku` (bowing posture) and exert yourself in supplication in prostration. Thus your supplications are liable to be accepted.'' [Muslim Book 004, Chapter 37, Hadith # 970]
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said, "A slave becomes nearest to his Rubb when he is in prostration. So increase supplications while prostrating.'' [Muslim Book 004, Chapter 37, Hadith # 979]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Saffat Ayat 159. Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! ” Both the Ahadith mentioned above, evidently show that there is greater possibility of acceptance of an invocation which is made in prostration. Therefore, one must do it in the voluntary Salat.

[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) : Ayat 151-157

Ayat 151. Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say:
Ayat 152. "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars!
Ayat 153. Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons?
Ayat 154. What is the matter with you? How do you decide?
Ayat 155. Will you not then remember?
Ayat 156. Or is there for you a plain authority?
Ayat 157. Then bring your Book if you are truthful!

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 151 to 157. Is it not that they say, from their own invention, Ayat 152. "(Allah) has begotten children"? but they are liars! Any attribution to Allah of ideas derogatory to His Oneness and His supreme height above all creatures is likely to degrade our own conception of Allah's Universal Plan, and is condemned in the strongest terms. Ayat 153. Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? There is the strongest irony in this passage. Ayat 154. What is the matter with you? How judge ye? Ayat 155. Will ye not then receive admonition? Ayat 156. Or have ye an authority manifest? Ayat 157. Then bring ye your Book (of authority) if ye be truthful!
Hazrat Ibn Masood (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said, "Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire (Hell), and a person persists on telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar".' [Muslim Book 32, Chapter 26, Hadith # 6306].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Saffat Ayat 151. Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans)” Siddiq (veracious) and Kadhdhab (liar) both are adjectives of intensive degree. That is to say, the words stand respectively for someone whose truth has become his second nature; and in the opposite case, one is a liar who is in the habit of telling lies. As one acquires a reputation in this world for his good or bad deeds similar is his position before Allah. One who is ranked among the truthful with Him is entitled to reward, and if one is a liar, he has to suffer retribution for it. This Hadith provides incentive for truthfulness because it is a source of every good deed and contains a warning against lying as it gives rise to all kinds of mischief.

[37].Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks): Ayat 149-150

Ayat 149. Now ask them (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW] (PBUH): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?"
Ayat 150. Or did Allah create the angels females while they were witnesses?

Tafseer of Surah As-Saffat (Those Ranged in Ranks) Ayat 149. Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- Allah begin a new argument here. The Pagan Arabs called angels daughters of Allah. They themselves were ashamed of having daughters, and preferred to have sons, and Ayat 150. Or that Allah created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)?

Hazrat Abu Masud Al-Ansari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said, "One of the admonitions of the previous Prophets which has been conveyed to people is that if you have no modesty, you can do whatever you like.'' [Bukhari Book # 04, Chapter 56 Hadith # 691].

Lesson: This does not mean that doing everything is allowed for a shameless person. It is like giving information that when a person loses the feeling of shame, then he does not mind doing anything. For this reasons the western nations intend to finish the feeling of shame and remorse among the Muslims, which is a landmark and a criterion of Islam. They want to do away with this criterion so that Muslims may indulge in shameless things happily. Unfortunately, the western people are succeeding in their designs and the Islamic social life is also tending to be shameless like its western counterpart.
