[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 066-067

৬৬. তারা কেবল কেয়ামতেরই অপেক্ষা করছে যে, আকস্মিকভাবে তাদের কাছে এসে যাবে এবং তারা খবর ও রাখবে না।

৬৭. বন্ধুবর্গ সেদিন একে অপরের শত্রু হবে, তবে খোদাভীরুরা নয়। 

Ayat 66. Do they (the pagans of Makkah) only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not?

Ayat 67. Friends (of these Pagans) on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious).

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 66. The Hour of Judgment may come at any moment. It will come all of a sudden before they realize that it is on them. They should make up their minds to give up misleading disputations and come to the Straight Path {see also 47:18). Ayat 67. Friends on that Day will be foes, one to another, except the Righteous. The hatred and spite, which are associated with evil, will be felt with peculiar intensity in that period of agony. That itself would be a punishment, from which the righteous will be free. The righteous will have passed all perils of falling into wrong frames of mind.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "Man follows his friend's religion, you should be careful who you take for friends".  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2378 and Abu Dawud Hadith # 4833].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al Zukhruf Ayat 67. Friends (of these Pagans) on that Day will be foes one to another except Al-Muttaqun (pious)” This Hadith also induces one to avoid the company of impious people and seek the association of the pious persons.

[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 063-065

৬৩. ঈসা যখন স্পষ্ট নিদর্শনসহ আগমন করল, তখন বলল,  আমি তোমাদের কাছে প্রজ্ঞা নিয়ে এসেছি এবং তোমরা যে, কোন কোন বিষয়ে মতভেদ করছ তা ব্যক্ত করার জন্যে এসেছি,
অতএব, তোমরা আল্লাহকে ভয় কর এবং আমার কথা মান।
৬৪. নিশ্চয় আল্লাহই আমার পালনকর্তা ও তোমাদের পালনকর্তা। অতএব, তাঁর এবাদত কর।  এটা হল সরল পথ।
৬৫. অতঃপর তাদের মধ্যে থেকে বিভিন্ন দল মতভেদ সৃষ্টি করল। সুতরাং যালেমদের জন্যে রয়েছে যন্ত্রণাদায়ক দিবসের আযাবের দুর্ভোগ। 

Ayat 63. And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me,

Ayat 64. "Verily, Allah! He is my Lord (God) and your Lord (God). So worship Him (Alone). This is the (only) Straight Path (i.e. Allah’s religion of true Islamic Monotheism)."

Ayat 65. But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)!

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 63. True wisdom consists in understanding the unity of the Divine purpose and the Unity of the Divine Personality. The man Jesus came to reconcile the jarring sects in Israel, and his true teaching was just the same as that which was expounded in a wider form by Islam. He did not claim to be God; why should not the Christians follow the doctrine of Unity rather than what has become their ancestral and traditional custom? Ayat 64. In verses 26-28 an appeal is made to the pagan Arabs, that Islam is their own religion, the religion of Abraham their ancestor; in verses 46-54, an appeal is made to the Jews that Islam is the same religion as was taught by Moses, and that they should not allow their leaders to make fools of them; in verses 57-65 an appeal is made to the Christians that Islam is the same religion as was taught by Jesus, and that they should give up their sectarian attitude and follow the universal religion, which shows the Straight Way. Ayat 65. But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day!

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: There came a man to the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, which charity is the most reward able?'' He Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That you should give charity (in a state when you are) healthy and stingy and fear poverty, hoping to become rich (charity in such a state of health and mind is the best). And you must not defer (charity to such a length) that you are about to die and would be saying: 'This is for so-and-so, and this for so-and-so.' Lo! It has already come into (the possession of) so-and-so".  [Al-Bukhari Book 02, Chapter 24, Hadith # 500].

Lesson: Charity in the real sense is that which a person gives when he is healthy. If a person gives charity when he is facing death, it does not have much value before Allah. Moreover, in that condition he cannot give more than one-third of his property in charity because then it becomes the property of his successors, which cannot be spent even in the way of Allah. For this reason Allah has prescribed a limit in this respect, according to which if a person going through a mortal disease wants to give his property in charity or donate it for some charitable purpose, he cannot spend more than one-third of it on this account. This injunction is an inducement for people to hurry in doing good deeds, especially in the matter of alms and charity. In fact, he should do it without delay.

[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 061-062

৬১. সুতরাং তা হল কেয়ামতের নিদর্শন।  কাজেই তোমরা কেয়ামতে সন্দেহ করো না এবং আমার কথা মান। এটা এক সরল পথ।

৬২. শয়তান যেন তোমাদেরকে নিবৃত্ত না করে।  সে তোমাদের প্রকাশ্য শুত্রু।

Ayat 61. And he ['Iesa PBUH (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Isa’s (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise).

Ayat 62. And let not Shaitan (Satan) hinder you (from the right religion, i.e. Islamic Monotheism), Verily, he (Satan) to you is a plain enemy.

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 61. And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. This is understood by some commentators to refer to the second coming of Jesus in the Last Days before Resurrection. (R). Ayat 62. Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Dajjal (the Antichrist) will appear in my Ummah and he will stay in the world for forty. I do not know whether this will be forty days or forty months or forty years. Allah will then send (Prophet) `Isa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary). `Isa will pursue him and slaughter him. [Muslim]

​Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al Zukhruf Ayat 61. And he ['Iesa PBUH (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) This Hadith clearly shows and prove that (Prophet) `Isa PBUH (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) is not crucified as Jews and Christian believe also In the above Hadith we find details about the signs of the Day of Resurrection, the appearance of Dajjal (Antichrist), the coming of Prophet `Isa - son of Maryam. All the important events which will happen during these times. Here, we also note the havoc of Dajjal who then finally the killing of them by the help of Allah and efforts of Prophet `Isa and his prayers. 

[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 060

৬০. আমি ইচ্ছা করলে তোমাদের থেকে ফেরেশতা সৃষ্টি করতাম, যারা পৃথিবীতে একের পর এক বসবাস করত।

Ayat 60. And if it were Allah’s Will, He would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth.

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 60. And if it were Allah’s Will, Allah could make angels from amongst you, succeeding each other on the earth. If it were said that the birth of Jesus without a father sets him above other prophets, the creation of angels without either father or mother would set them still higher, especially as angels do not eat and drink and are not subject to physical laws. But angels are not higher.

Hazrat Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The superiority of the learned over the devout worshipper is like my superiority over the most inferior amongst you (in good deeds).'' He went on to say, "Allah, His angels, the dwellers of the heaven and the earth, and even the ant in its hole and the fish (in water) supplicate in favor of those who teach people knowledge.''  [At-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 2685] 

 

Lesson: Alim (learned person) here means scholar of the Qur'an and Hadith, who adheres to Faraid and Sunnah and remains busy in learning and imparting knowledge. `Abid (devout worshipper) is one who spends most of his time in the worship of Allah. The benefit of his voluntary prayer and remembrance of Allah is restricted to his own self while the benefit of knowledge of the scholar reaches others also. Hence, of the two, the latter is far superior. If Salat is mentioned with reference to Allah, it denotes "Allah's Grace with Mercy;'' if it is mentioned with reference to the angels, it denotes "to pray for forgiveness;'' and if it is mentioned with reference to other creatures - men, animals, etc., - then it means prayer and supplication. Thus, Allah graces that person with His Mercy who teaches people the beneficial knowledge, i.e., the knowledge of Islam; angels pray to Allah to forgive his (or her) sins; and other creatures pray for his (or her) well-being. In this way, this Hadith stresses the distinction of religious scholars and highlights the esteem in which they are held by Allah, His angels and His other creatures.  

[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 059

৫৯. সে তো এক বান্দাই বটে আমি তার প্রতি অনুগ্রহ করেছি এবং তাকে করেছি বণী-ইসরাঈলের জন্যে আদর্শ।

Ayat 59. He ['Iesa PBUH (Jesus)] was not more than an obedient servant of Allah. Allah granted Our Favour to him, and made him an example to the Children of Israel (i.e. his creation without a father).

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 59. A reference to the limited mission of the prophet Jesus, who’s Gospel to the Jews only survives in uncertain fragmentary forms. As explained He was no more than a servant: Allah granted favour to him, and made him an example to the Children of Israel. 

Hazrat Saad bin Abu Waqas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah loves a slave who is pious, free of all wants and the unnoticed.''  [Muslim Book 42, Chapter 01, Hadith # 7072]. 

Lesson: “Isolation, according to this Hadith, is recommendable for the obedience and worship of Allah. It is particularly approved when the prevalent corruption and social intercourse endanger religion, or its implementation looks no more feasible.

[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 057-058

৫৭. যখনই মরিয়ম তনয়ের দৃষ্টান্ত বর্ণনা করা হল, তখনই আপনার সম্প্রদায় হঞ্জগোল শুরু করে দিল 
৫৮. এবং বলল, আমাদের উপাস্যরা শ্রেষ্ঠ, না সে?  তারা আপনার সামনে যে উদাহরণ উপস্থাপন করে তা কেবল বিতর্কের জন্যেই করে। বস্তুতঃ তারা হল এক বিতর্ককারী সম্প্রদায়।

Ayat 57. And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example).

Ayat 58. And Pagans of Makkah say to you O Mohammed  [SAWW](PBUH) : "Are our aliha (gods) better or is he ['Iesa (Jesus)]?" They quoted not the above example except for argument. Nay! But they are a quarrelsome people. [(See VV. 21:97-101) - The Qur’an.]

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 57 and 58. Iesa PBUH (Jesus) was a man, and a prophet to the Children of Israel, "though his own received him not". Some of the churches that were founded after him worshipped him as "God" and as "the son of God", as do the Trinitarian churches to the present day. The orthodox churches did so in the time of the Prophet. When the doctrine of Unity was renewed, and the false worship of others besides Allah was strictly prohibited, all false gods were condemned, e.g., at 21:98. The pagan Arabs looked upon Jesus as being in the same category as their false gods, and could not see why a foreign cult, or a foreign god, as they viewed him, should be considered better than their own gods or idols. There was no substance in this, but mere mockery, and verbal quibbling. Jesus was one of the greater prophets: he was not a god, nor was he responsible for the quibbling subtleties of the Athanasius Creed. 58. And they say, "Are our gods best, or he?" This they set forth to thee, only by way of disputation: yea, they are a contentious people.

Hazrat Ubadah bin As-Samit (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who bears witness that there is no true god except Allah, alone having no partner with Him, that Muhammed is His slave and His Messenger, that `Isa (Jesus) is His slave and Messenger and he (Jesus) is His Word which He communicated to Maryam (Mary) and His spirit which He sent to her, that Jannah is true and Hell is true; Allah will make him enter Jannah accepting whatever deeds he accomplished".

Another narration in Muslim is: the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Whosoever testifies that there is no true god except Allah and that Muhammed [SAWW](PBUH) is the Messenger of Allah, Allah (SWT) saves him from the Fire (of Hell)".  [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 11, Hadith # 043].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al Zukhruf Ayat 57. And when the son of Maryam (Mary) is quoted as an example [i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) is worshipped like their idols), behold! Your people cry aloud (laugh out at the example)" This Hadith confirms that all Prophets of Allah were men and thus refutes those who attribute divinity to them and exclude them from the category of men or regard them a part of Allah, as Christians believes Prophet `Isa (Jesus to be Christ) by regarding him Allah or His son, or the Jews do Prophet `Uzair by venerating him as son of Allah. The misconception has also taken hold of a sect of the Muslims.

[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 051-056

৫১. ফেরাউন তার সম্প্রদায়কে ডেকে বলল, হে আমার কওম, আমি কি মিসরের অধিপতি নই? এই নদী গুলো আমার নিম্নদেশে প্রবাহিত হয়, তোমরা কি দেখ না?

৫২. আমি যে শ্রেষ্ট এ ব্যক্তি থেকে, যে নীচ এবং কথা বলতেও সক্ষম নয়।

৫৩. তাকে কেন স্বর্ণবলয় পরিধান করানো হল না, অথবা কেন আসল না তার সঙ্গে ফেরেশতাগণ দল বেঁধে? 

৫৪. অতঃপর সে তার সম্প্রদায়কে বোকা বানিয়ে দিল, ফলে তারা তার কথা মেনে নিল। নিশ্চয় তারা ছিল পাপাচারী সম্প্রদায়।

৫৫. অতঃপর যখন আমাকে রাগাম্বিত করল তখন আমি তাদের কাছ থেকে প্রতিশোধ নিলাম এবং নিমজ্জত করলাম। তাদের সবাইকে।

৫৬. অতঃপর আমি তাদেরকে করে দিলাম অতীত লোক ও দৃষ্টান্ত পরবর্তীদের জন্যে।   

Ayat 51. And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) proclaimed among his people, saying: "O my people! Is not mine the dominion of Egypt, and these rivers flowing underneath me. See you not then?

Ayat 52. "Am I not better than this one [Musa (Moses)], who is Mahin [has no honor nor any respect, and is weak and despicable] and can scarcely express himself clearly? 

Ayat 53. "Why then are not golden bracelets bestowed on him, or angels sent along with him?"

Ayat 54. Thus he [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] be fooled and misled his people, and they obeyed him. Verily, they were ever a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

Ayat 55. So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all.

Ayat 56. And We made them a precedent (as a lesson for those coming after them), and an example to later generations.

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) Ayat 51 to 56. The Waw here in Arabic is the Waw haliyah: the abundant streams from the Nile flowing beneath his palace being evidence of his power, prosperity, and sovereignty. The Nile made (and makes) Egypt, and the myth of the god Osiris was a compound of the myths of the Nile and the sun. The Pharaoh, therefore, as commanding the Nile, commanded the gods who personified Egypt. He boasted of water, and he perished in water,-a fitting punishment! Ayat 52. "Am I not better than this (Moses), who is a contemptible wretch and can scarcely express himself clearly? Being a despised Israelite in any case, and having further an impediment in his speech. See 20:27. Ayat 53. Gold bracelets and gold chains were possibly among the insignia of royalty. In any case they betokened wealth, and the materialists judge a man's worth by his wealth and his following and equipage. So Pharaoh wanted to see Moses, if he had any position in the spiritual kingdom, invested with gold bracelets, and followed by a great train of angels as his Knight-companions! The same kind of proofs were demanded by the materialistic Quraysh of our Prophet. These were puerilities, but such puerilities go down with the crowd. Barring a few Egyptians who believed in Allah and in the Message of Moses, the rest of Pharaoh's entourage followed Pharaoh in his pursuit of revenge, and were drowned in the Red Sea. Ayat 54. Thus did he make fools of his people, and they obeyed him: truly were they a people rebellious (against Allah. Ayat 55. Allah is long-suffering, and gives many and many opportunities to the most hardened sinners for repentance. But at length comes a time when His justice is provoked, and the inevitable punishment follows. Ayat 56. Pharaoh and his hosts were blotted out, and became as a tale of the past. Their story is an instructive warning and example to future generations. The later course of Egyptian religion after the Exodus is referred to in Appendix V.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH)observed Saum (fasting) on the day of `Ashura' and commanded us to fast on this day.  [Al-Bukhari Book 03, Chapter 31, Hadith # 222].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al Zukhruf Ayat 55. So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all” it is stated that when the Prophet (PBUH) emigrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah, he saw that the Jews were fasting on this day. He asked them why they did this on that day, and they told him that they did it for the reason that Allah granted Prophet Musa PBUH emancipation from Pharaoh on this day by drowning him in Sea, and so they observed Saum in token of their joy. On this, he (PBUH) said that in this happiness of Prophet Musa, Muslims have a greater right to observe Saum than the Jews. Consequently, he also observed Saum on 10th of Muharram. Then, he said that if he lived the following year, he would observe Saum on 9th of Muharram also so that they would make themselves different from the Jews. According to another Hadith, he (PBUH) ordained the Muslims to observe Saum on `Ashura' and in addition one more Saum on 9th or 11th of Muharram in opposition to the Jews.
