[13].Surah Ar-Ra'd [The Thunder] : Ayat 14

Ayat 14. For Him (Allah Alone) is the Word of Truth (i.e. none has the right to be worshipped but He). And those whom they (polytheists and disbelievers) invoke, answer them no more than one who stretches forth his hand (at the edge of a deep well) for water to reach his mouth, but it reaches him not, and the invocation of the disbelievers is nothing but an error (i.e. of no use).

Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW] (PBUH) said, "The similitude of one who remembers his Rubb and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead.''

[Al-Bukhari Volume 8, Book 75, Hadith # 416 ].

another narration in Sahih Muslim narrated by Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW] (PBUH) as saying: The house in which remembrance of Allah is made and the house in which Allah is not remembered are like the living and the dead.
[Muslim Book 04, Chapter 121, Hadith # 1706].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Ar-Ra'd Ayat 14. "For Him (Allah Alone) is the Word of Truth". Lack of remembrance of Allah is akin to death. When a person dies, he is unable to do anything. Similarly, a person who does not remember Allah goes so far from Him that he cannot do anything which can benefit him.
