[17].Surah Al-Isra' [The Journey By Night]: Ayat 33

also known as Surah Bani Israel [The Children of Israel]
Ayat 33. And do not kill anyone which Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause. And whoever is killed (intentionally with hostility and oppression and not by mistake), We have given his heir the authority [(to demand Qisâs, Law of Equality in punishment or to forgive, or to take Diya (blood money)]. But let him not exceed limits in the matter of taking life (i.e he should not kill except the killer only). Verily, he is helped (by the Islamic law).

Hazrat Ibn Mas`ud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The first matter concerning which people will be judged on the Day of Resurrection will be the matter of blood.''
[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 540].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Isra Ayat 33. "And do not kill anyone which Allah has forbidden" In another Hadith, it has been stated that on the Day of Judgement, the first thing about which people will be questioned will be As-Salat (the five daily prayers). There is no contradiction in the two narrations. Among the duties of Allah, the first thing to be reckoned would be As-Salat; while among the mutual right of humans, the first thing to be decided would be murder. From this narration the value of human life becomes very significant.
