[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 25

Ayat 25. And Allah drove back those who disbelieved in their rage; they gained no advantage (booty, etc.). Allah sufficed for the believers in the fighting (by sending against the disbelievers a severe wind and troops of angels). And Allah is Ever All Strong, All Mighty.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 25. And Allah turned back the Unbelievers for (all) their fury: no advantage did they gain; and enough is Allah for the believers in their fight. And Allah is full of Strength, able to enforce His Will. In spite of the mighty preparations and the great forces which the Makkans, in concert with the Central Arabian Bedouins, the discontented Jews, and the treacherous Hypocrites, brought to the siege of Madinah, all their plans were frustrated. Their fury availed them nothing. They departed in hot haste. This was the last and dying effort. The initiative thereafter lay with the forces of Islam.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "(The performance of) `Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous `Umrah; and the reward of Hajj Mabrur (i.e., one accepted) is nothing but Jannah.''  [Al-Bukhari Book 03, Chapter 27, Hadith # 001].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Hadith Almighty Allah emancipates most of His slaves, both men and women from the Hell-fire on this great day. Millions of pilgrims, who by virtue of their sincere repentance, try to seek the Pleasure of Allah certainly stand to earn Allah's Pardon for their sins and thereby emancipation from the Hell-fire. May Allah grant us this grace of His.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 24

Ayat 24. That Allah may reward the men of truth for their truth (i.e. for their patience at the accomplishment of that which they covenanted with Allah), and punish the hypocrites if He will or accept their repentance by turning to them in Mercy. Verily, Allah is Oft Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 24. That Allah may reward the men of Truth for their Truth, and punish the Hypocrites if that be His Will, or turn to them in Mercy: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Before the Throne of Allah's Mercy there is always room for repentance and forgiveness, even after treason and crime: but the forgiveness will be according to Allah's Will and Plan, which will judge the penitent's sincerity and capacity for good to the nicest degree in his favor. Cf. also 33:17.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) was asked, "Which deed is the best?'' He [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "Faith in Allah and His Messenger.'' He [SAWW](PBUH) was asked, "What is next?'' He (PBUH) replied, "Jihad (holy fighting) in the Cause of Allah.'' Then he was asked: "What is after that (in goodness)?'' He [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "Hajj Mabrur (which is accepted by Allah).''  [Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 02, Hadith # 25].

Lesson : as mentioned above Hadith "Different acts have been regarded more meritorious in different Ahadith. For this reason, some scholars have performed the justification that the word mun "whoever" is the keynote in such cases. That is, such and such acts come in the category of eminent acts or they have been mentioned with reference to circumstances and time or place. For instance, at certain times or at certain places or for certain persons, performing Salat in the early prescribed hours is more meritorious, or Hajj through representative or Jihad is more meritorious, etc.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 23

Ayat 23. Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah [i.e. they have gone out for Jihad (holy fighting), and showed not their backs to the disbelievers], of them some have fulfilled their obligations (i.e. have been martyred), and some of them are still waiting, but they have never changed [i.e. they never proved treacherous to their covenant which they concluded with Allah] in the least.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 23. Among the Believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah. of them some have completed their vow (to the extreme), and some (still) wait: but they have never changed (their determination) in the least: In the fight for Truth were (and are) many who sacrificed their all-resources, knowledge, influence, life itself- in the Cause, and never wavered. If they won the crown of martyrdom, they were blessed. Such a one was Saad Ibn Muadh,. The chief of the Aws tribe, the intrepid standard-bearer of Islam, who died of a wound he had received in the Battle of the Trench. Other heroes fought valiantly and lived, always ready to lay down their lives. Both classes were staunch, they never changed or wavered.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Whoever performs Hajj (pilgrimage) and does not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commits sin, nor disputes unjustly (during Hajj), then he returns from Hajj as pure and free from sins as on the day on which his mother gave birth to him.''  [Al-Bukhari Volume 02, Book 26, Hadith # 596].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Hadith the true meanings of "Rafath'' intercourse but it also signifies obscene and frivolous talk and the expression of desire to one's wife. Since coition with one's wife is forbidden during Hajj, so conversation with her on this subject or talking for amusement is also disliked. "Fisq'' means disobedience of Allah and quarrelling with people. One must avoid both of them during Hajj. The Hajj which is performed with all these restrictions has the merit that one is totally purged of sins. But this purification is from sins which come in the category of minor sins and which relate to the Rights of Allah. Major sins relating to the Rights of Allah and lapses in respect of the rights of people are not pardoned without sincere repentance and compensation to the aggrieved.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 22

Ayat 22. And when the believers saw Al-Ahzab (the Confederates), they said: "This is what Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) had spoken the truth, and it only added to their faith and to their submissiveness (to Allah).

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 22. When the Believers saw the Confederate forces, they said: "This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true." And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience. This is in contrast to what the Hypocrites said in verse 12 above. The divine promise of help and success is contingent upon our striving and faith. Nothing comes to the poltroon and the skeptical idler. Dangers and difficulties, and conflict with Evil, are foretold us, and we must meet them with fortitude and courage.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) delivered a Khutbah and said, "O people! Hajj (pilgrimage to the House of Allah) has been made incumbent upon you, so perform Hajj.'' A man inquired: "O Messenger of Allah, is it prescribed every year?'' He cid:14471D4BCADB43EA9A3A978C554A43C8@gmail[SAWW](PBUH) remained silent till the man repeated it thrice. Then he image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Had I replied in the affirmative, it would have surely become obligatory, and you would not have been able to fulfill it.'' Afterwards he said, "Do not ask me so long as I do not impose anything upon you, because those who were before you were destroyed on account of their frequent questioning and their disagreement with their Prophets. So when I order you to do something, do it as far as you can; and when I forbid you from doing anything, eschew it.''  [Muslim Book 007, Chapter 71, Hadith # 3095].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 22. “Allah and His Messenger (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) had spoken the truth” This Hadith brings out the following points:
1. Hajj is compulsory once in a lifetime for those who have the means for it.
2. Unnecessary questioning is disliked.
3. Those who believe in Allah and His Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) are required to do what they are ordained and abstain from what they are forbidden.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]:Ayat 21

Ayat 21. Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.
Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 21. Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah. We now have the psychology of the Believers-God-fearing men, led by that pattern of men and of leaders, Muhammad, image001.jpg SAWW (PBUH) Cf. 26:227: see especially the last clause of that verse in a Makkan Surah, which was amply fulfilled in Madinah.
Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Three men came to the houses of the wives of the Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) to inquire about the worship of The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH). When they were informed, they considered their worship insignificant and said: "Where are we in comparison with The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) while Allah has forgiven his past sins and future sins". One of them said: "As for me, I shall offer Salat all night long.'' Another said: "I shall observe Saum (fasting) continuously and shall not break it". Another said: "I shall abstain from women and shall never marry". The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) came to them and said, "Are you the people who said such and such things? By Allah, I fear Allah more than you do, and I am most obedient and dutiful among you to Him, but still I observe fast and break it; perform Salat and sleep at night and get married and take wives. So whoever turns away from my Sunnah does not belong to me".
[Al-Bukhari Book 7, Chapter 62, Hadith # 001]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 21. “Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) you have a good example to follow”
1. This Hadith deals with the following five points:
a) Moderation in worship.
b) Obligation to marry.
c) Inducement for following in the Prophet's footsteps.
d) Prohibition from observing Saum (fasts) all the time.
e) Prohibition of keeping awake all the night for Nawafil prayers.
2. There is neither virtue nor reward for making innovations in religion. All the blessings and rewards lie only in the obedience and following the conduct of the Prophet image001.jpg (PBUH).

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 20

Ayat 20. They think that AlAhzab (the Confederates) have not yet withdrawn, and if AlAhzab (the Confederates) should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, seeking news about you (from a far place); and if they (happen) to be among you, they would not fight but little.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 20. They think that the Confederates have not withdrawn; and if the Confederates should come (again), they would wish they were in the deserts (wandering) among the Bedouins, and seeking news about you (from a safe distance); and if they were in your midst, they would fight but little. This completes the picture of the psychology of the Hypocrites, begun in verse 12. Let us analyze it. (1) When they first saw the enemy they were already in a defeatist mood, and thought all was over (verse 12). (2) Not content with disloyalty themselves, they tried to infect others, who made paltry excuses to withdraw from the fight (verse 13). (3) They were ready to betray the City to the enemy if the enemy had gained entrance (verse 14). (4) They forgot all the promises of fidelity which they had previously sworn (verse 15). (5) In their paltry calculations they forgot that cowardice in war does not pay (verses 16-17). (6) Without taking much part in the actual defense, they were ready to talk glibly and claim a lion's share in the fruits of the victory (verses 18-19). (7) Even when the enemy had withdrawn, their cowardly minds were still afraid that the enemy would return, and were already meditating what they would do in that case; perhaps they would dwell in the deserts and spy on Madinah from a safe distance: and if caught in Madinah they would fight little and intrigue much. It was a miracle that with such men in their midst, the Prophet and his band won through.
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "There are no days during which the righteous action is so pleasing to Allah than these days (i.e., the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah).'' He was asked: "O Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW], not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah?'' He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "Not even Jihad in the Cause of Allah, except in case one goes forth with his life and his property and does not return with either of it.'' [Al-Bukhari Volume 02, Book 15, Hadith # 086].

Lesson: This Hadith brings out the following two points: 1. Righteous deeds during the first ten days of the month of Dhul-Hijjah are far better and more rewarding than righteous deeds done on other days of the year, because they are Hajj days in the sacred season of pilgrimage. Because of their excellence and importance, Allah (SWT) swore by them, thus: "By the Dawn; by the ten Nights...'' (89:1, 2)
2. Jihad has great eminence in Islam.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 19

Ayat 19. Being miserly towards you (as regards help and aid in Allah’s Cause). Then when fear comes, you will see them looking to you, their eyes revolving like (those of) one over whom hovers death, but when the fear departs, they will smite you with sharp tongues, miserly towards (spending anything in any) good (and only covetous of booty and wealth). Such have not believed. Therefore Allah makes their deeds fruitless, and that is ever easy for Allah.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 19. Covetous over you. Then when fear comes, thou wilt see them looking to thee, their eyes revolving, like (those of) one over whom hovers death: but when the fear is past, they will smite you with sharp tongues, covetous of goods. Such men have no faith, and so Allah has made their deeds of none effect: and that is easy for Allah. Ashihhah: covetous, grasping, and miserly. Here the meaning is twofold: (1) they spare themselves in the fight as compared with you; they are miserly with themselves as against you; they contribute little either in personal effort or with their money and resources; and (2) they covet any gains made or booty won, on the part of the real fighters. In time of danger; they would look to the Prophet for protection, and keep themselves snugly from the fight. When the danger is past, they will come and brag and wrangle and show their covetousness or greed for gain though they gave of themselves but sparingly. Even any good they may have done becomes vain because of their motives of envy, greed, and covetousness and their cowardice. It is not surprising that men's deeds fall as it were dead because there is no pure motive behind them. For men it may be difficult to probe motives, but it is easy for Allah, Whom hypocrisy or false show can never deceive.
Hazrat Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The best of charities is to provide canopy in the Cause of Allah, to pay wages to a servant in the way of Allah, and to provide a camel in the way of Allah (to be used by a Mujahid).''  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 1627].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 19. “miserly towards (spending anything in any) good” Here, the word canopy (tent) stands for a covered canopy tent which can provide a Mujahid with shade for peace and comfort, and "pay wages'' means to provide a servant who can help and serve him. "Fahl'' literally means camel and "Taruqah'' is that young she-camel which can bear offspring that is a young healthy she-camel which can be of service to the Mujahid. What all this means is that such work is highly meritorious which can provide a Mujahid with comfort, power and food. Allah holds promise of a rich reward for it.

[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 18

Ayat 18. Allah already knows those among you who keep back (men) from fighting in Allah’s Cause, and those
who say to their brethren "Come here towards us," while they (themselves) come not to the battle except a little.

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 18. Verily Allah knows those hypocrites among you who keep back (men) and those who say to their brethren, "Come along to us", these cowards but come not to the fight except for just a little while. They spare themselves in the fight as compared with Muslims; they are miserly with themselves as against you; they contribute little either in personal effort or with their money and resources; and (2) they covet any gains made or booty won, on the part of the real fighters. In time of danger; they would look to the Prophet for protection, and keep themselves snugly from the fight.

Hazrat Abu Thabit (Abu Saeed / Abu Waleed) heard from Hazrat Sahl bin Hunaif (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said: "He who asks Allah for martyrdom, Allah will raise him to the high status of the martyrs, even if he dies on his bed".  [Muslim Book 20, Chapter 46, Hadith # 4695].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 18. “Allah already knows those among you who keep back (men) from fighting in Allah’s Cause” This Hadith highlights the merit and importance of sincere intention which in fact is so great that by virtue of it Allah raises a person's status to that of a martyr. On the contrary, persons of foul intention will be consigned to Hell by Allah even if they die in Jihad.
