[33].Surah Al-Ahzab [The Confederates]: Ayat 71

Ayat 71. Allah will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) he has indeed achieved a great achievement (i.e. he will be saved from the Hell-fire and made to enter Paradise).

Tafseer of Surah Al Ahzab (The Confederates) Ayat 71. That Allah may make your conduct whole and sound and forgive you your sins: He that obeys Allah and His Messenger image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) has already attained the highest Achievement. This is salvation, the attainment of our real spiritual desire or ambition, as we are on the highway to nearness to Allah.
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with both of them) reported that when Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) came to Medina, he found the Jews observing the fast on the day of Ashura. They (the Jews) were asked about it and they said: It is the day on which Allah granted victory to Moses and (his people) Bani Israel over the Pharaoh and we observe fast out of gratitude to Him. Upon this the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said: We have a closer connection with Moses than you have, and he commanded to observe fast on this day. [Muslim Book 6, Number 2518]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahzab Ayat 71. “Allah will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins”Ashura' 10th of Muharram. In another Hadith, it is stated that when the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) emigrated from Makkah to Al-Madinah, he saw that the Jews were fasting on this day. He asked them why they did this on that day, and they told him that they did it for the reason that Allah granted Prophet Musa [PBUH] emancipation from Pharaoh on this day, and so they observed Saum in token of their joy. On this, he image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said that in this happiness of Prophet Musa [PBUH], Muslims have a greater right to observe Saum than the Jews. Consequently, he also observed Saum on 10th of Muharram. Then, he said that if he lived the following year, he would observe Saum on 9th of Muharram also so that they would make themselves different from the Jews.
