[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 041-042

Ayat 41. And listen on the Day when the caller will call from a near place,
Ayat 42.  The Day when they will hear As-Saihah (shout, etc.) in truth, that will be the Day of coming out (from the graves i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
Ayat 43. Verily, We it is Who give life and cause death; and to Us is the final return.

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 41 to 43. And listen for the Day when the Caller will call out from a place quiet near. The Day of Resurrection, when the Call to the souls to arise and come to the Judgment Seat will be immediately answered, and they will arise and come forth. Cf. 36:49-53. In the life of this world it seemed all so remote. In the new life at the Resurrection it will all be so near; for there will be neither time nor space as we know them here. 42. The Day when they will hear a (mighty) Blast in (very) truth: that will be the Day of Resurrection. The word al Say hah (mighty Blast) is used for the Resurrection (as here) or for the sudden punishment of the guilty on this earth, as in 11:67, where see further references. 43. Verily it is We Who give Life and Death; and to Us is the Final Goal.

Hazrat Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who provides a fasting person something with which to break his fast, will earn the same reward as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.''  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 807].

Lesson: As mention in Hadith reward for providing drink and food to fasting person are due for awesome returns and we must make arrangements for poor and needy persons to have food on their table and in return earn enormous rewards in this world and hereafter.

[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 039-040

Ayat 39. So bear with patience (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) all that they say, and glorify the Praises of your Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting (i.e. the Fajr, Zuhr, and 'Asr prayers).
Ayat 40. And during a part of the night (also), glorify His praises (i.e. Maghreb and 'Isha prayers), and (so likewise) after the prayers [As-Sunnah, Nawafil optional and additional prayers, and also glorify, praise and magnify Allah - Subhan Allah, Alhamdu lillah, Allahu-Akbar].

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 39. Bear, then, with patience, all that they say, and celebrate the praises of thy Lord, before the rising of the sun and before (its) setting. Allah should be remembered at all times. But the best time for individual adoration is early in the morning before sunrise, late in the day before sunset, and a portion of the night, when there is stillness in the air, and man's spirit loves to commune with things spiritual. Those who would connect this with the five canonical prayers, instituted at a later stage in Madinah, would take the Fajr for the prayer before sunrise, the Zuhr and the 'Asr for the afternoon prayers before sunset and the Maghreb and the 'Isha' for the night prayers. 40. And during part of the night, (also,) celebrate His praises, and (so likewise) after the postures of adoration. The general meaning of after the postures of adoration would be the contemplation and remembrance of Allah after prayers. Those who would connect this passage with the five canonical prayers understand these further prayers "following the sujud or postures of adoration" to mean the extra or supernumerary prayers known as Nafl, also the use of the Rosary or the fingers in remembering the Names of Allah.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Allah the Most High says: `From amongst my servants, the quicker the one is in breaking the Saum (fasting), the dearer is he to me.'''  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 700].

Lesson : The person who breaks the Saum in its early time is best loved by Allah because he is a true follower of the Prophet (PBUH).

[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 038

Ayat 38. And indeed We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six Days and nothing of fatigue touched Us.

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 38. We created the heavens and the earth and all between them in Six Days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us. Allah's creation of the heavens and the earth in long stages or periods of time, as we count time, shows how things evolve in their own good time. We must therefore be patient if Good does not seem to come to its own according to our ideas. Our will should merge itself in Allah's Will, and we should praise Him, realizing that He is All-Good and that all adjustments will be in the Hereafter.

Hazrat Salman bin `Amir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "When one of you breaks his Saum (fasting), let him break it on dates; if he does not have any, break his fast with water for it is pure.''
[Abu Dawud Hadith # 2355 and At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 658].

[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 036-037

Ayat 36. And how many a generation We have destroyed before them, who were stronger in power than them, and (when Our Torment came) they ran for a refuge in the land! Could they find any place of refuge (for them to save themselves from destruction)?
Ayat 37. Verily, therein is indeed a reminder for him who has a heart or gives ear while he is heedful.

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 36 to 37. But how many generations before them did We destroy (for their sins), stronger in power than they? Then did they wander through the land: was there any place of escape (for them)? While virtue and righteousness will accomplish their final goal, what will be the End of Sin? Let the past tell its story. Many powerful and arrogant generations were swept away, to stray in the paths of misery, without any way of escape from the consequences of their sin. This was already seen in the life of this world. In the world to come, it will be worse, as already stated in verses 24-26 above. 37. Verily in this is a Message for any that has a heart and understanding or who gives ear and earnestly witnesses (the truth). As Christ said (Matt. 11:15), "he that hath ears to hear, let him hear". These are matters of high moment. Many spiritual lessons can be learnt from these things by anyone who has the heart and understanding to apply to Allah's teaching and can give genuine thought to what he sees, as a witness does who has to swear to the facts on his oath.

Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We took Suhur (predawn meal) with the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and then we stood up for (Fajr) Salat (prayer). It was asked: "How long was the gap between the two?'' He replied: "The time required for the recitation of fifty Ayat.''  [Al-Bukhari Book # 01, Chapter # 10, Hadith # 550].

Lesson: We learn from this Hadith that Suhur should be taken towards the end of its timing. This is the Sunnah of the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH). One should, however, take care that it is done before dawn.

[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 034-035

Ayat 34. Enter you therein in (Jannah) peace and security; this is a Day of eternal life!"
Ayat 35. There they will have all that they desire, and We have more (for them, i.e. a glance at the All-Mighty, All-Majestic SWT

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 34 and 35. "Enter ye therein in Peace and Security; this is a Day of Eternal Life!" The true meaning of Islam: peace, security, salutation, and accord with Allah's Plan in all Eternity. 35. There will be for them therein all that they wish, - and more besides in Our Presence. To get all that our purified wishes and desires comprehend may seem to sum up final Bliss; but there is something still wanting, which is supplied by the Presence of Allah, the Light of His Countenance.

Hazrat Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The difference between our observance of Saum (fasting) and that of the people of the Scriptures is Suhur (predawn meal in Ramadan).'' [Muslim Book 06, Chapter 09, Hadith # 2413]

Lesson: We learn from this Hadith that Suhur is a distinctive mark with which Allah has blessed the Muslim Ummah.

[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 031-033

Ayat 31. And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2) not far off.
Ayat 32. (It will be said): "This is what you were promised, - (it is) for those oft-returning (to Allah) in sincere repentance, and those who preserve their covenant with Allah (by obeying Him in all what He has ordered, and worship none but Allah Alone, i.e. follow Allah’s Religion, Islamic Monotheism).
Ayat 33. "Who feared the Most Beneficent (Allah) in the Ghaib (unseen): (i.e. in this worldly life before seeing and meeting Him), and brought a heart turned in repentance (to Him - and absolutely free from each and every kind of polytheism),

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 31 to 33. And the Garden will be brought nigh to the Righteous, - no more a thing distant. In this life, the ideals of the spirit, the accomplishments of the things in our hearts and our hopes, seem to be ever so far, seem even to recede as we think we come nearer. Not so in the Hereafter. The fruits of righteousness will no longer be in the distance. They will be realized. They will seem themselves to approach the Righteous. 32. (A voice will say :) "This is what was promised for you, - for every one who turned (to Allah. In sincere repentance, who kept (His Law), The description of the Righteous is given in four masterly clauses: (1) those who turned away from Evil in sincere repentance; (2) those whose new life was good and righteous; (3) those who in their innermost hearts and in their most secret doings were actuated by God-fearing love, the fear that is akin to love in remembering Allah under His title of "Most Gracious"; and (4) who gave up their whole heart and being to Him. 33. "Who feared (Allah) Most Gracious unseen, and brought a heart turned in devotion (to Him): Cf. 36:11 and 35:18.

Hazrat Abu Atiyyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Masruq and I visited `Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) and said: "O Mother of the Believers! There are two Companions of Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and neither of them holds back from doing good acts; but one of them hastens to break Saum (fasting) and hastens to perform the Maghreb prayer, while the other delays breaking Saum and delays performing Salat (prayer).'' She asked, "Who is the one who hastens to break Saum and perform the Maghreb prayer?'' Masruq said, "It is `Abdullah (meaning `Abdullah bin Masud).'' She said, "The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) used to do so.''
[Muslim Book 06, Chapter 09, Hadith # 2420].

Lesson: This Hadith points out the practice of the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) of breaking the Saum and performing the Maghreb prayer in the early moments of the prescribed time.

[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 030

Ayat 30. On the Day when We will say to Hell: "Are you filled?" It will say: "Are there any more (to come)?"

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 30. One Day We will ask Hell, "Art thou filled to the full?" It will say, "Are there any more (to come)?" As the capacity of Good is unlimited, so is the capacity of Evil-unlimited. Hell is personified and asked, "Art thou sated to the full?" It replies, "If there are more to come, let them come." It is not satisfied.

Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah cid:image003.gif@01D1C0CB.5B472BA0 [SAWW](PBUH) used to break his Saum (fasting) before performing Maghreb prayer with three fresh date-fruits; if there were no fresh date-fruits, he will eat three dry dates; and if there were no dry date-fruits; he would take three draughts of water.  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 694].

Lesson: It is well to keep the priorities of things mentioned in the Hadith as one gets the reward of following the Sunnah in breaking his Saum.
