Ayat 47. "So go you both
to him, and say: 'Verily, we are Messengers of your Lord, so let the Children of
Israel go with us, and torment them not; indeed, we have come with a sign from
your Lord! And peace will be upon him who follows the guidance!
Ayat 48. 'Truly, it has been
revealed to us that the torment will be for him who denies [believes not in the
Oneness of Allah, and in His Messengers, etc.], and turns away.'(from the truth
and obedience of
Allah)"
[Tafseer] The Children of Israel were subjected to all
sorts of oppression and indignities. They were given hard tasks; their leaders
were unjustly beaten; they were forced to make bricks without straw; and they
"groaned in bondage". Allah, in His infinite Mercy, always offers Peace to
the most hardened sinners, even those who are warring against Him. But, as
stated in the next verse, their defiance cannot go on with impunity
indefinitely. The punishment must inevitably come for sin, whether the sinner is
great or small.
Hazrat Abdullah bin
Busr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: One of the Companions said, "O
Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH). There are many injunctions of Islam for me. So
tell me something to which I may hold fast.'' He said, "Keep your tongue wet
with the remembrance of Allah.''
[At-Tirmidhi, Hadith #
3383]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Taha Ayat 48."And peace will be upon
him who follows the guidance" Shara'i` is the plural of
Shari`ah Shari`ah is in the sense of Mashru`ah, that is the Divine
injunctions. These Divine injunctions are of various kinds, i.e., some of them
are obligatory, some desirable and some voluntary. The obligatory ones are
compulsory and their compliance is indispensable. What is termed as Mustahabbat
(desirables) are also highly important for gaining the Pleasure of Allah.
Similarly, voluntary acts are a means of getting close to Allah. Ordinary people
are sometimes puzzled by the abundance of the latter and want to adhere to the
first two, that is obligations and what comes in the category of desirables. A
desire to this effect is mentioned in this Hadith. The Prophet (PBUH) answered
the query in this matter by saying to the inquirer, "Keep your tongue wet with
the remembrance of Allah.'' Keeping the tongue wet with the remembrance of Allah
here means its abundant recitation. In other words, one should make the
remembrance of Allah a permanent feature. If one is not able to do many
voulntary good works, which some people find difficult, the remembrance of Allah
will make up the deficiency in that regard.
