৩৪. আমরা এই জনপদের অধিবাসীদের উপর আকাশ থেকে আযাব নাজিল করব তাদের
পাপাচারের কারণে।
৩৫. আমি বুদ্ধিমান লোকদের জন্যে এতে একটি স্পষ্ট নিদর্শন রেখে দিয়েছি।
Ayat 34. Verily,
we are about to bring down on the people of this town a great torment
from the sky, because they have been rebellious (against Allah’s
Command)."
Ayat 35. And indeed We have left thereof an evident Ayah (a lesson and a warning and a sign the place where the Dead Sea is now in Palestine) for a folk who understand.
Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 34. "For we are going to bring down on the people of this township a Punishment from heaven, because they have been wickedly rebellious." The Punishment was a rain of brimstone, which completely overwhelmed the Cities, with possibly an earthquake and a volcanic eruption (see 11:82). 35. And We have left thereof an evident Sign, for any people who (care to) understand. The whole tract on the east side of the Dead Sea (where the Cities were situated) is covered with sulphurous salts and is deadly to animal and plant life. The Dead Sea itself is called in Arabic the Bahr Lut (the sea of Lot ). It is a scene of utter desolation, that should stand as a Symbol of the Destruction that awaits Sin.
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah 
[SAWW](PBUH) said, "There are two blessings in which many people incur loss. (They are) health and free time (for doing good)". [Al-Bukhari Volume 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 421].
Lesson
: 1. Al-Ghabn in Arabic means loss. What it really signifies is to sell
something of one's own on less than its due price, or to buy something
on its double or triple price. In both cases one is a loser. When a
person comes to know about such a loss, he repents and feels sorry for
it. This loss coupled with regret is called Al-Ghabn. In Ahadith, man
has been compared with trader, and health and leisure enjoyed by him
with merchandise. One who uses his merchandise with care, gains profit
while he who wastes it, that is to say, uses it carelessly, will be a
loser on the Day of Resurrection.
2.
The majority of people do not take proper care of both these things,
with the result that one wastes the time in useless activities and
spends the physical strength and energy in the disobedience of Allah.
One will have to face severe consequences of it on the Day of
Resurrection when he will be brought into account for everything.
