[36].Surah Yaseen [Yaseen]: Ayat 20-22

Ayat 20. And there came running from the farthest part of the town, a man, saying: "O my people! Obey the Messengers;
Ayat 21. "Obey those who ask no wages of you (for themselves), and who are rightly guided.
Ayat 22. "And why should I not worship Him (Allah Alone) Who has created me and to Whom you shall be returned.

Tafseer of Surah Yaseen, Ayat 20 to 22. Then there came running, from the farthest part of the City, a man, saying, "O my people! Obey the messengers: While the wealthy, influential, and fashionable men in the City were doubtful of Allah's providence and superstitiously believed in Chance and evil omens, the Truth was seen by a man in the outskirts of the City, a man held in low esteem by the arrogant. He had believed, and he wanted his City to believe. So, in Arabia, when the arrogant chiefs of Quraysh exiled the Prophet, it was men from Madman and from the outskirts, who welcomed him, believed in him, and supported his mission in every way. Ayat 21. "Obey those who ask no reward of you (for themselves), and who have themselves received Guidance. Prophets do not seek their own advantage. They serve Allah and humanity. Their hope lies in the good pleasure of Allah, to Whose service they are devoted. Cf. 10:72; 12:104; etc. Ayat 22. "It would not be reasonable in me if I did not serve Him Who created me, and to Whom ye shall (all) be brought back. The argument throughout is that of intense personal conviction for the individual himself, coupled with an appeal to his people to follow that conviction and get the benefit of the spiritual satisfaction which he has himself achieved. He says in effect: 'how is it possible for me to do otherwise than to serve and adore my Maker? I shall return to Him, and so will you and all this applies to you as much as to me.' Note how effective is the transition from the personal experience to the collective appeal.

Hazrat Irbad bin Sariyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: One day Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) delivered us a very eloquent Khutbah on account of which eyes shed tears and hearts were full of tears. A man said: "O Prophet of Allah, this is as if it were a parting advice. So advise us". He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "I admonish you to fear Allah, to listen and obey even if an Abyssinian slave is appointed as your leader. Because whosoever among you shall live after me, will see much discord. So hold fast to my Sunnah and the examples of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs who will come after me. Adhere to them and hold to it fast. Beware of new things (in Deen) because every Bid’ah is a misguidance". [Abu Dawud Hadith # 4607 and At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2676]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Yaseen Ayat 20. And there came running from the farthest part of the town, a man, saying: "O my people! Obey the Messengers; This Hadith stresses piety, obedience to the leader, following in the footsteps of the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and the first four noble caliphs. It strictly forbids innovation in Deen. This Hadith also reveals the prediction of the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) that the Muslim Ummah will become a victim of dissension. He also prescribed the right means to counteract it. The remedy that he has proposed for this problem is that Muslims should never deviate from the path laid for them by him and his righteous successors. This is the touchstone for discovering the truth from the mess of different views. All the troubles of Muslims would come to an end if they accept this as the one singular criterion of right and wrong.
