[19].Surah Maryam [Mary]: Ayat 48

Ayat 48. "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be un-blest in my invocation to my Lord."
[Tafseer] (I shall withdraw from you) I will leave you (and that unto which ye pray beside Allah) of idols, Abraham [PBUH] left his father and the home of his fathers (Ur of the Chaldees [an city in ancient Mesopotamia (modern Iraq), and never returned. He left because he was turned out, and because it was not possible for him to make any compromise with what was false in religion. In return for abuse, he spoke gentle words. And he expressed his fervent hope that at least he (Abraham [PBUH]) would have Allah's blessing in reply to his prayers. Here was a prefigured of another Hijrah many centuries later! In both cases the prayer was abundantly fulfilled.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The most truthful statement a poet has ever made is the saying of Labid: Everything besides Allah is vain.''
[Al-Bukhari Book 05,Chapter 58, Hadith # 181]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Maryam Ayat 48."I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah"
1. We learn from this Hadith that to compose, recite and quote good verses, as evidence, is permissible.
2. The Verse of Labid, quoted in this Hadith, is the same effect as the verdict of the Noble Qur'an: "Whatsoever is on (the earth) will perish." (Surah Rahman: Ayat 26). This Verse accepts the eternity of the Afterlife and the transitory nature of this world.

[19].Surah Maryam [Mary] : Ayat 47

Ayat 47. Ibrahim [PBUH](Abraham) said: "Peace be on you! I will ask Forgiveness of my Lord for you. Verily! He is unto me, Ever Most Gracious.
[Tafseer] Abraham [PBUH] said to his father : (Peace be unto thee! I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee) I will pray to Allah for you. (Lo! He was ever gracious unto me) He knows, if He wants to answer my prayer, where this promise of Abraham to pray for his father is referred to, and its limitations pointed out.
Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "I do not think that so-and-so understands anything of our Faith.''
[Al-Bukhari Book 08,Chapter 73, Hadith # 93]
Al-Bukhari said: Hazrat Al-Laith bin Saad, who is one of the narrators of this Hadith, said: The two men mentioned by the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) in this Hadith were hypocrites (i.e., they revealed Faith and concealed disbelief).
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Maryam Ayat 47.""Peace be on you! I will ask Forgiveness of my Lord" Hypocrites are also people of mischievous and doubtful conduct. It is, therefore, not only permissible but necessary to make people aware of their real position so that people become cautious about them and their religious and worldly life may remain safe from their machinations.

[19].Surah Maryam [Mary] : Ayat 46

Ayat 46. He (the father) said: "Do you reject my gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you. So get away from me safely before I punish you."
[Tafseer] Note the gentle persuasive tone of Abraham [PBUH] in his speeches in 19:42-45 (for we may suppose those sentences to sum up a long course of arguments) and in 19:47-48, contrasted with the brusque and repellent tone of the father's reply in this verse. The one was the outcome of the true Light which had come to Abraham [PBUH] from Allah, as the other was the outcome of Pagan arrogance and the worship of brute force. The spiritual lesson from this episode of Abraham's [PBUH] life may be stated in four propositions: (l) the pious son is dutiful to his father and wishes him well in all things, material and spiritual; (2) if the father refuses Allah's Light, the son will do his utmost to bring such Light to the father; (3) having received the Light, the son will never renounce that Light, even if he has to forfeit his father's love and renounce his home; (4) even if the father repels him and turns him out, his answer will be a soft answer, full of love and forgiveness on the one hand, but firmness on behalf of Truth on the other.

Hazrat Khabbab bin Al-Aratt (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We complained to the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) regarding the persecution inflicted upon us by the disbelievers while he was lying in the shade of the Kabah, having made a pillow of his cloak. We submitted: "Why do you not supplicate for our prevalence (over the opponents)?''. He [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "Among those people before you, a man would be seized and held in a pit dug for him in the ground and he would be sawed into two halves from his head, and his flesh torn away from his bones with an iron comb; but, in spite of this, he would not wean away from his Faith. By Allah, Allah will bring this matter to its consummation until a rider will travel from Sana' (Yemen) to Hadramout fearing none except Allah, and except the wolf for his sheep, but you are in too much of a hurry".
[Al-Bukhari Book 04,Chapter 56, Hadith # 809]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Maryam Ayat 46."O Ibrahim (Abraham)? If you stop not (this), I will indeed stone you."
1. Difficulties in the path of Faith do not come in any particular period. People devoted to their Deen have passed through trials and tribulations everywhere and in every age and have emerged purified as does the gold after passing through the furnace. So, it is unbecoming for a Muslim to be disturbed by hardships.
2. The glad tidings about domination of religion and peace and security were given in the early period of Islam which were subsequently witnessed by the people. Even now wherever Islam is practiced in true sense, peace and security are distinctive features of the system of that country.

[19].Surah Maryam [Mary] : Ayat 44-45

Ayat 44. "O my father! Worship not Shaitan (Satan). Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has been a rebel against the Most Beneficent (Allah).
Ayat 45. "O my father! Verily! I fear lest a torment from the Most Beneficent (Allah) overtake you, so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan) (in the Hell-fire)."
[Tafseer] (O my father! Serve not the devil) do not obey the devil concerning the worship of idols. (Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent) the devil is a disbeliever in Allah. The rebellion is all the more heinous and inexcusable, considering that Allah is Most Just, Most Merciful, Most Gracious. (O my father! Lo! I fear) I know (lest a punishment from the Beneficent overtake thee) if you do not believe in Him (so that thou become a comrade of the devil) a companion of the devil in hell. To entertain a feeling of friendliness, instead of aversion, to Evil, is in itself a degradation of our nature, a Penalty which Allah imposes on our deliberate rejection of the Truth. And the friendliness to Evil also implies the sharing of the outlawry of Evil.
Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "If a person mentions the Name of Allah upon entering his house or eating, Satan says, addressing his followers: `You will find no where to spend the night and no dinner.' But if he enters without mentioning the Name of Allah, Satan says (to his followers); `You have found (a place) to spend the night in, and if he does not mention the Name of Allah at the time of eating, Satan says: `You have found (a place) to spend the night in as well as food.'''
[Muslim Book 23,Chapter 11, Hadith # 5006]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Maryam Ayat 45."so that you become a companion of Shaitan (Satan)" Herein, we are told that in order to ward off Satan and his followers, we are supposed to remember Allah before entering our house and before beginning to eat. The remembrance of Allah implies those appropriate prayers of the Prophet (PBUH) which have been mentioned in Ahadith. For example, we are instructed to pronounce the Name of Allah before beginning to eat. On entering our house we recite the following Prophetic prayer: "Allahumma inni as'aluka khairal-mawliji wa khairal-makhraji. Bismillahi wa lajna, wa bismillahi kharajna, wa `al-Allahi rabbina tawakkalna.'' (O Allah! I ask you for what is good of entrance and what is good for exit. With the Name of Allah do we enter, and with the Name of Allah do we leave, and upon our Rubb Allah have we put our trust).

[19].Surah Maryam [Mary] : Ayat 43

Ayat 43. "O my father! Verily! There has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you. So follow me. I will guide you to a Straight Path.
[Tafseer] Some are more receptive to Light than others. It is their duty and privilege to guide and point to the right Way. Sawiyan—right, smooth, even; complete, perfect; hence the derived meanings; 'in full possession of all the physical senses'; in that context, 'not dumb': (O my father! Lo! there hath come unto me) from Allah (of knowledge) of exposition (that which came not unto thee) that whoever worships other than Allah will torment him with the Fire. (So follow me) regarding Allah's religion, (and I will lead thee on a right path) I will guide you to a just path and erect path that Allah is pleased with which is Islam.
Hazrat Abu Musa (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The similitude of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like a rain which has fallen on some ground. A fertile part of earth has absorbed water and brought forth much grass and herbs. Another part, which is solid, held the water and Allah benefits men thereby, who drank and gave others to drink, and used it for irrigation. But some of it has fallen on a portion of sandy land which neither retains the water nor produces herbage. Such is the likeness of the man who understands the religion of Allah and who gets benefit of what Allah has sent me with; he learns and teaches others. It is also the likeness of the man who neither raises his head on that account (meaning he does not benefit from what the Prophet [SAWW](PBUH) was sent with) nor accepts Allah's Guidance with which I am sent".
[Al-Bukhari Book 01,Chapter 03, Hadith # 079]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Maryam Ayat 43."There has come to me of knowledge that which came not unto you" In this Hadith the guidance and knowledge which was sent to mankind through the Prophet (PBUH) is compared to the rain which is beneficial, because this knowledge resuscitates the dead hearts as does the rain to a barren land. One who makes use of this knowledge is likened to a good soil, and one who acquires this knowledge and imparts it to others but does not put it into practice is considered akin to a hard land which holds water and other people utilize it. A person who neither learns it nor acts upon it is like a desolate land which neither holds water nor produces anything. Such a person is the worst of all because he neither himself benefits from it nor lets others make use of it. This Hadith induces one to acquire knowledge, impart it to others, put it into actual practice and warns people from neglecting this duty.

[19].Surah Maryam [Mary]: Ayat 41

Ayat 41. And mention in the Book (the Qur'an) Ibrahim [PBUH](Abraham). Verily! He was a man of truth, a Prophet.
[Tafseer] (And make mention in the Scripture of Abraham) the event of Abraham [PBUH]. (Lo! he was a saint) he believed in faith, (a prophet) sent to people, informing them on behalf of his Lord. Siddiq (veracious) is highest rank after Nabi, Quran also mention Hazrat Maryam (Mary)[PBUH) as Siddiqa, In followers of Islam Hazrat Abu-Bakr Siddiq [RA] is called Khair-ul-Basher, best among the human followers of Islam.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Jannah [Paradise]. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is enrolled with Allah as a truthful. Falsehood leads to vice and vice leads to the Fire (Hell), and a person persists on telling lies until he is enrolled as a liar".'
[Muslim Book 32,Chapter 26, Hadith # 6306]
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Maryam Ayat 41."Verily! He was a man of truth," Siddiq (veracious) and Kadhdhab (liar) both are adjectives of intensive degree. That is to say, the words stand respectively for someone whose truth has become his second nature; and in the opposite case, one is a liar who is in the habit of telling lies. As one acquires a reputation in this world for his good or bad deeds similar is his position before Allah. One who is ranked among the truthful with Him is entitled to reward, and if one is a liar, he has to suffer retribution for it. This Hadith provides incentive for truthfulness because it is a source of every good deed and contains a warning against lying as it gives rise to all kinds of mischief.
