[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 56

Ayat 56. And those who have been bestowed with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed you have stayed according to the Decree of Allah, until the Day of Resurrection, so this is the Day of Resurrection, but you knew not."

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 56. But those endued with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed ye did tarry, within Allah's Decree, to the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection: but ye - ye were not aware!" The men of knowledge and faith knew all along of the true values-of the things of this ephemeral life and the things that will endure and face them at the End-unlike the wrongdoers who were content with falsehoods and were taken by surprise, like ignorant men, when they faced the Realities.
Hazrat Zaid bin Khalid Al-Juhani (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who provides a fasting person something with which to break his fast, will earn the same reward as the one who was observing the fast, without diminishing in any way the reward of the latter.''
[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 807].

Lesson : As mention in Hadith reward for providing drink and food to fasting person are due for awesome returns and we must make arrangements for poor and needy persons to have food on their table and in return earn enormous rewards in this world and hereafter.

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 55

Ayat 55. And on the Day that the Hour will be established, the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) will swear that they stayed not but an hour, thus were they ever deluded [away from the truth (i.e. they used to tell lies and take false oaths, and turn away from the truth) in this life of the world)].

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 55. On the Day that the Hour (of Reckoning) will be established, the transgressors will swear that they tarried not but an hour: thus were they used to being deluded! Whatever the seeming inequalities may be now-when the good appear to be weak and the strong seem to oppress-will be removed when the balance will be finally redressed. That will happen in good time-indeed so quickly that the Transgressors will be taken by surprise. They were deluded by the fact that what they took to be their triumph or their freedom to do what they liked was only a reprieve, a "Term Appointed", in which they could repent and amend and get Allah's Mercy. Failing this, they will then be up against the Penalties which they thought they had evaded or defied.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Allah the Most High says: `From amongst my servant's, the quicker the one is in breaking the Saum (fasting), the dearer is he to me.''' [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 700].

Lesson : The person who breaks the Saum in its early time is best loved by Allah because he is a true follower of the Prophet (PBUH).

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 54

Ayat 54. Allah is He Who created you in (a state of) weakness, then gave you strength after weakness, then after strength gave (you) weakness and grey hair. He creates what He wills. And it is He Who is the All Knowing, the All Powerful (i.e. Able to do all things).

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 54. It is Allah Who created you in a state of (helpless) weakness, then gave (you) strength after weakness, then, after strength, gave (you weakness and a hoary head: He creates as He wills, and it is He Who has all knowledge and power. What was said before about the people who make Allah's teaching "of none effect" does not mean that Evil will defeat Allah. On the contrary, we are asked to contemplate the mysteries of Allah's wisdom with another Parable. In our physical life we see how strength is evolved out of weakness and weakness out of strength. The helpless babe becomes a lusty man in the pride of manhood, and then sinks to a feeble old age: and yet there is wisdom in all these stages in the Universal Plan. So Allah carries out His Plan in the spiritual world "as He wills", i.e., according to His Will and Plan, and none can gainsay it. And His Plan is wise and can never be frustrated.

Hazrat Salman bin `Amir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "When one of you breaks his Saum (fasting), let him break it on dates; if he does not have any, break his fast with water for it is pure.''  [Abu Dawud Hadith # 2355 and At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 658].

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 53

Ayat 53. And you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) cannot guide the blind from their straying; you can make to hear only those who believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and have submitted to Allah in Islam (as Muslims).

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 53. Nor canst thou lead back the blind from their straying: only those wilt thou make to hear, who believe in Allah's signs and submit (their wills in Islam). Then there is the case of men about whom the saying holds true, that none are so blind as those who will not see. They prefer to stray in the paths of wrong and of sensei pleasures. How can they be guided in any way? The only persons who gain by spiritual teaching are those who bring a mind to it—who believe and submit their wills to Allah's Will. This is the central doctrine of Islam (Cf. 43:40).

Hazrat Zaid bin Thabit (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We took Suhur (predawn meal) with the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and then we stood up for (Fajr) Salat (prayer). It was asked: "How long was the gap between the two?'' He replied: "The time required for the recitation of fifty Ayat.''
[Al-Bukhari Book # 01, Chapter # 10, Hadith # 550].

Lesson : We learn from this Hadith that Suhur should be taken towards the end of its timing. This is the Sunnah of the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH). One should, however, take care that it is done before dawn.

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 52

Ayat 52. So verily, you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) cannot make the dead to hear (i.e. the disbelievers, etc.), nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs, turning away.

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 52. So verily thou canst not make the dead to hear, nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs and turn away. The marvels of Allah's creation can be realized in a general way by everyone who has a disposition to allow such knowledge to penetrate his mind. But if men, out of perversity, kill the very faculties which Allah has given them, how can they then understand? Besides the men who deaden their spiritual sense, there are men who may be likened to the deaf, who lack one faculty but to whom an appeal can be made through other faculties, such as the sense of sight: but if they turn their backs and refuse to be instructed at all, how can the Truth reach them?

Hazrat Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The difference between our observance of Saum (fasting) and that of the people of the Scriptures is Suhur (predawn meal in Ramadan).''  [Muslim Book 06, Chapter 09, Hadith # 2413].

Lesson : We learn from this Hadith that Suhur is a distinctive mark with which Allah has blessed the Muslim Ummah.

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 51

Ayat 51. And if Allah send a wind [which would spoil the green growth (tilth) brought up by the previous rain], and they see (their tilth) turn yellow, behold, they then after their being glad, would become unthankful (to their Lord Allah as) disbelievers.

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 51. And if Allah (but) send a Wind from which they see (their tilth) turn yellow,- behold, they become, thereafter, Ungrateful (Unbelievers)! Another Parable from the forces of nature. We saw how the Winds gladdened, vivified, and enriched those who utilized them in the right spirit. But a wind might be destructive to tilth in certain circumstances: so the blessings of Allah may—by the wrongdoers resisting and blaspheming—bring punishment to the wrongdoers. Instead of taking the punishment in the right spirit—in the spirit in which Believers of Allah take their misfortunes—the Unbelievers curse and deepen their sin!

Hazrat Abu Atiyyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Masruq and I visited `Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) and said: "O Mother of the Believers! There are two Companions of Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) and neither of them holds back from doing good acts; but one of them hastens to break Saum (fasting) and hastens to perform the Maghreb prayer, while the other delays breaking Saum and delays performing Salat (prayer).'' She asked, "Who is the one who hastens to break Saum and perform the Maghreb prayer?'' Masruq said, "It is `Abdullah (meaning `Abdullah bin Masud).'' She said, "The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) used to do so.''  [Muslim Book 06, Chapter 09, Hadith # 2420].

Lesson : This Hadith points out the practice of the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) of breaking the Saum and performing the Maghreb prayer in the early moments of the prescribed time.

[30].Surah Ar-Rum [The Romans]: Ayat 49-50

Ayat 49. And verily before that (rain), just before it was sent down upon them, they were in despair!
Ayat 50. Look then at the effects (results) of Allah’s Mercy, how He revives the earth after its death. Verily! That (Allah) Who revived the earth after its death shall indeed raise the dead (on the Day of Resurrection), and He is Able to do all things.

Tafseer of Surah Al Rum (The Romans) Ayat 49 and 50. Even though, before they received (the rain) – just before this - they were dumb with despair! Then contemplate (O man!) the memorials of Allah’s Mercy!- how He gives life to the earth after its death: verily the same will give life to the men who are dead: for He has power over all things. After the two Parables about the purifying action of the Winds and their fertilizing action, we now have the Parable of the earth that dies in winter or drought and lives again in spring or rain, by Allah's Grace: so in the spiritual sphere, man may be dead and may live again by the Breath of Allah and His Mercy if he will only place himself in Allah's hands.
Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) used to break his Saum (fasting) before performing Maghreb prayer with three fresh date-fruits; if there were no fresh date-fruits, he will eat three dry dates; and if there were no dry date-fruits; he would take three draughts of water. [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 694].

Lesson : as mentioned It is well to keep the priorities of things mentioned in the Hadith as one gets the reward of following the Sunnah in breaking his Saum.
