[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 052-55

৫২. এমনিভাবে, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের কাছে যখনই কোন রসূল আগমন করেছে, তারা বলছেঃ যাদুকর, না হয় উম্মাদ।

৫৩. তারা কি একে অপরকে এই উপদেশই দিয়ে গেছে? বস্তুতঃ ওরা দুষ্ট সম্প্রদায়।

৫৪. অতএব, আপনি ওদের থেকে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিন। এতে আপনি অপরাধী হবেন না।

৫৫. এবং বোঝাতে থাকুন; কেননা, বোঝানো মুমিনদের উপকারে আসবে।   

Ayat 52. Likewise, no Messenger came to those before them, but they said: "A sorcerer or a madman!"

Ayat 53. Have they (the people of the past) transmitted this saying to these (Quraish pagans)? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds (in disbelief)!

Ayat 54.  So turn away (O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) from them (Quraish pagans) you are not to be blamed (as you have conveyed Allah’s Message).

Ayat 55. And remind (by preaching the Qur’an, O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) for verily, the reminding profits the believers.

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 52 to 55. Similarly, no messenger came to the Peoples before them, but they said (of him) in like manner, "A sorcerer, or one possessed"! They said this of Moses: 51:39. And they said this of the Prophet: 38:4; 44:14. 53. Is this the legacy they have transmitted, one to another? Nay, they are themselves a people transgressing beyond bounds! There is a tradition of Evil as there is a tradition of Good. The ways of Evil in dealing with the teachers of Truth are similar in all ages. But such evil traditions would have no effect, were it not that the generation following them is itself ungodly, "transgressing beyond bounds." 54. So turn away from them: not Thine is the blame. When the Prophet freely proclaims his Message, it is not his fault if obstinate wickedness refuses to listen. He can leave them alone, but he should continue to teach for the benefit of those who have Faith. 55. But teach (thy Message) for teaching benefits the Believers. 

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect, and if anyone invites others to follow error, the sin, will be equivalent to that of the people who follow him (in sinfulness) without their sins being diminished in any respect".  [Muslim Book # 06, Chapter 34, Hadith # 6470].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 55. And remind (by preaching the Qur’an, O Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH) for verily, the reminding profits the believers” Invitation' and `Call' stand to mean here that someone induces others to virtue or seduces to sin by means of his speech or action. We come to know from this Hadith that one who becomes a medium for either of them is given a reward or punishment respectively by Allah (SWT).

[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 050-051

৫০. অতএব, আল্লাহর দিকে ধাবিত হও। আমি তাঁর তরফ থেকে তোমাদের জন্যে সুস্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী।

৫১. তোমরা আল্লাহর সাথে কোন উপাস্য সাব্যস্ত করো না। আমি তাঁর পক্ষ থেকে তোমাদের জন্য সুস্পষ্ট সতর্ককারী। 

Ayat 50. So flee to Allah (from His Torment to His Mercy Islamic Monotheism), verily, I (Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH)  am a plain warner to you from Him.

Ayat 51. And set not up (or worship) any other ilahan (god) along with Allah [Glorified be He (Alone), Exalted above all that they associate as partners with Him]. Verily, I (Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH)  am a plain warner to you from Him.

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 50. Hasten ye then (at once) to Allah. I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open! If you understand Nature arid yourselves aright, you will know that Allah is all-in-all, and you will fly at once to Him. This is the teaching which the Prophet of Allah has come to give you, in clear terms and openly to all. 51. And make not another an object of worship with Allah. I am from Him a Warner to you, clear and open! Verses 50 and 51, ending with the same clause to emphasize the connection between the two, should be read together. The Prophet's mission was (and is): (1) to show us the urgent need for repentance; and (2) to wean us from the precipice of false worship. The one convinces us of sin and opens the door to the Mercy of Allah; the other cures us of the madness of paying court to idle or worthless objects of desire: for in the worship of Allah, the One True God, is included the best service to ourselves and our fellow-creatures. If fully understood, this sums up the whole duty of man: for it leads us by the right Path to the love of Allah and the love of man and of all creatures. 

Hazrat Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "My parable and that of yours is like a man who kindled a fire. When it has illuminated all around him, the moths and grasshoppers began to fall therein. He tried to push them away, but they overcame him and jumped into it. I am catching hold of your waists ties (to save you) from fire, but you slip away from my hands".  [Muslim Book 030, Chapter 06, Hadith # 5672]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 50. “verily, I (Muhammad  [SAWW](PBUH)  am a plain warner to you from Him" This Hadith mentions the extreme kindness which the Prophet (PBUH) had for the welfare of his followers. It also mentions the misfortune of those who would become the fuel of Hell for not accepting Islam in spite of the utmost affection and ardour of the Prophet (PBUH) to bring them in the fold of Islam. People who fail to accept Islam would fall in the Hell-fire in the same way moths fall in the fire.

[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 047-049

৪৭. আমি স্বীয় ক্ষমতাবলে আকাশ নির্মাণ করেছি এবং আমি অবশ্যই ব্যাপক ক্ষমতাশালী।

৪৮. আমি ভূমিকে বিছিয়েছি। আমি কত সুন্দরভাবেই না বিছাতে সক্ষম।

৪৯. আমি প্রত্যেক বস্তু জোড়ায় জোড়ায় সৃষ্টি করেছি, যাতে তোমরা হৃদয়ঙ্গম কর।  

Ayat 47. With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof.

Ayat 48. And We have spread out the earth, how Excellent Spreader (thereof) are We!

Ayat 49. And of everything We have created pairs, that you may remember (the Grace of Allah).

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 47 to 49. With power and skill did We construct the Firmament: for it is We Who create the vastness of pace. If you do not wish to go back to the wonderful things of the past, which show the power and goodness of Allah, and His justice supreme over all wrongdoing, look at the wonderful things unfolding themselves before your very eyes! (1) The space in the heavens above! Who can comprehend it but He Who made it and sustains it? (2) The globe of the earth under your feet! How great its expanse seems over sea and land, and spread out for you like a wonderful carpet or bed of rest! (3) All things are in twos: sex in plants and animals, by which one individual is complementary to another; in the subtle forces of nature, Day and Night, positive and negative electricity, forces of attraction and repulsion: and numerous other opposites, each fulfilling its purpose, and contributing to the working of Allah's Universe: and in the moral and spiritual world, Love and Aversion, Mercy and Justice, Striving and Rest, and so on—all fulfilling their functions according to the Artistry and wonderful Purpose of Allah. Everything has its counterpart, or pair, or complement. Allah alone is One, with none like Him, or needed to complement Him. These are noble things to contemplate. And they lead us to a true understanding of Allah's Purpose and Message. 48. And We have spread out the (spacious) earth: How excellently We do spread out! 49. And of everything We have created pairs, That ye may receive instruction. See Cf. 36:36. 

Hazrat Abu Ayub (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who observes As-Saum (the fasts) in the month of Ramadan, and also observes As-Saum for six days in the month of Shawwal, it is as if he has observed As-Saum for the whole year.''  [Muslim Book 06, Chapter 36, Hadith # 2614].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 53."Verily, Allah knows well what you do" According to the formula that there is at least ten-fold reward for every virtue, the Saum of one month (Ramadan) are equivalent to Saum of ten months. If one also observes six days of Saum of Shawwal, they will be equal to Saum of two months. Thus, one becomes eligible for the reward of one full years' Saum. He who makes it a permanent feature is like one who observes Saum throughout his life. He will be considered by Allah as one who observes Saum permanently. Although voluntary in nature, they are highly important. One can observe these six-day Saum at a stretch or with intervals, but their observance one after the other at the beginning of the month is better. Similarly, if a person has missed some Saum of Ramadan due to illness, travelling etc., he should first make up the shortfall and then observe the voluntary six-day Saum of Shawwal.

[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 046

৪৬. আমি ইতিপূর্বে নূহের সম্প্রদায়কে ধ্বংস করেছি।  নিশ্চিতই তারা ছিল পাপাচারী সম্প্রদায়।

Ayat 46. (So were) the people of Nuh (Noah) before them. Verily, they were a people who were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 46. So were the People of the nation of Prophet Noah PBUH before them for they wickedly transgressed. The generation of Noah PBUH was swept away in the Flood for their sins: 7:59 -64. The point is that such a flood seemed so unlikely to them that they thought Noah was "wandering in his mind" when he delivered Allah's Message: 7:60. 

Hazrat Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of 'Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) also narrated: The Prophet  [SAWW](PBUH) used to eat odd number of dates. [Al-Bukhari Volume 2, Book 15, Number 73].

Lesson : We learn from this Hadith "The wisdom behind eating before the Eid prayers (Salah) is so that no person doubts that fasting remains until after the Salah. So it is as if The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) wanted to stop this from occurring.”

[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 043-045

৪৩. আরও নিদর্শন রয়েছে সামূদের ঘটনায়; যখন তাদেরকে বলা হয়েছিল, কিছুকাল মজা লুটে নাও।

৪৪. অতঃপর তারা তাদের পালনকর্তার আদেশ অমান্য করল এবং তাদের প্রতি বজ্রঘাত হল এমতাবস্থায় যে, তারা তা দেখেছিল।

৪৫. অতঃপর তারা দাঁড়াতে সক্ষম হল না এবং কোন প্রতিকারও করতে পারল না।  

Ayat 43. And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!"

Ayat 44. But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking.

Ayat 45. Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 43 to 45. And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" See the story of the Thamud and their prophet Salih PBUH in 7:73-79. Here the point is the suddenness of their punishment and its unexpected nature. Salih, their prophet, gave them three days' clear warning for repentance (11:65). But they heeded him not. On the contrary they flouted him and continued in their evil courses. 44. But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. They had already defied the order to preserve the She-camel, which was symbolical of the grazing rights of the common people: see 11:64-65. They continued to flout the warnings of the prophet until the earthquake came on them with a stunning noise and buried them where they were: 7:78; and 11:67. Sa'iqah: a stunning sound like that of thunder and lightning (2:55); such a sound often accompanies an earthquake, (see 41:17, and 7:78). 45. Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. They were swept off in the earthquake. 

Hazrat Ibn Umar (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the Eid prayer. (One Sa' = 3 Kilograms approx.)  [Al-Bukhari Volume 2, Book 25, Number 579]

The Purpose of Zakat-ul-Fitr

Every Muslim is required to pay Zakat-ul-Fitr at the conclusion of the month of Ramadan as a token of thankfulness to Allah (SWT) for having enabled him to observe fasts. Its purpose is to purify those who fast from any indecent act or speech and to help the poor and needy. In addition, it provides for the needs of the poor and the indigent and relieves them from having to ask others for charity on the day of `Eid. The Prophet,  [SAWW](PBUH) said, “Fulfill their need on this day (i.e., the day of Eid).

[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 041-042

৪১. এবং নিদর্শন রয়েছে তাদের কাহিনীতে; যখন আমি তাদের উপর প্রেরণ করেছিলাম অশুভ বায়ু।

৪২. এই বায়ু যার উপর দিয়ে প্রবাহিত হয়েছিলঃ তাকেই চুর্ণ-বিচুর্ণ করে দিয়েছিল। 

Ayat 41. And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind;

Ayat 42. It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins.

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 41. And in the ´Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: Cf. 46:21 -26. The point here is that the 'Ad were a gifted people: Allah had given them talents and material wealth: but when they defied Allah, they and all their belongings were destroyed in a night, by a hurricane which they thought was bringing them the rain to which they were looking forward. How marvelously Allah's Providence works, to help the good and destroy the wicked! 42. It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: `Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: `I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad  [SAWW] is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. He is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb.'' [Al-Bukhari Book 03, Chapter 31, Hadith # 128].

Lesson: "Khuluf'', is the smell that comes from the mouth of person who observes Saum. It results from the thirst and hunger which he has to suffer during the Saum. The Hadith not only tells us the merits of Saum but also brings into focus the true significance of it. Saum is not thus mere abstention from food, drink and sexual intercourse, but also keeping away from all evils and vices and embracing virtues. 

[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]: Ayat 038-040

৩৮. এবং নিদর্শন রয়েছে মূসার বৃত্তান্তে; যখন আমি তাকে সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণসহ ফেরাউনের কাছে প্রেরণ করেছিলাম।

৩৯. অতঃপর সে শক্তিবলে মুখ ফিরিয়ে নিল এবং বললঃ সে হয় যাদুকর, না হয় পাগল।

৪০. অতঃপর আমি তাকে ও তার সেনাবাহিনীকে পাকড়াও করলাম এবং তাদেরকে সমুদ্রে নিক্ষেপ করলাম। সে ছিল অভিযুক্ত।  

Ayat 38. And in Musa PBUH (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority.

Ayat 39. But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] turned away (from Belief in might) along with his hosts, and said: "A sorcerer, or a madman."

Ayat 40. So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed.

Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 38. And in Moses (5016) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent him to Pharaoh, with authority manifest. 5016 Cf. 44:17-31. The story of Moses and Pharaoh is here just referred to. The points emphasized here are: (1) that Moses had manifest authority, yet Pharaoh doubted; (2) that Pharaoh's reliance was on his Chiefs and his forces, but they could not help when his doom came; and (3) that in the most extraordinary and incredible ways (judged by ordinary human standards), his arrogance and his reliance on his Chiefs and forces were his undoing. 39. But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 40. So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. (5017) 5017 The ungodly Egyptians were all destroyed, but the chief blame lay on Pharaoh for misleading them. Pharaoh's punishment was just. He could not blame anyone else. And certainly no one can blame the course of Allah's Justice, for Allah was long-suffering, and gave him many chances to repent. 

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I asked: "O Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH)! If I realize Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree), what should I supplicate in it?'' He  [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "You should supplicate: Allahumma innaka afuwwun, tuhibbul-afwa, fa fu anni (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me).''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 3513].

Lesson: Although no specific sign of Lailat-ul-Qadr has been mentioned in the Ahadith, some eminent scholars have stated, on the basis of their own experiences and observation that since angels descend on this night one feels a peculiar tranquility and peace of mind and one is overwhelmed with a unique tenderness of heart. The night is neither very hot nor very cold but a temperate one. Similarly, the sun that rises on the next day is also not very hot etc. etc. Allah knows the truth of the matter despite all that has been said in this regard. In any case, on this auspicious night every Muslim should earnestly pray to Allah for the forgiveness of his sins with reference to His Attribute of Forgiveness.
