[21].Al-Anbiya' [The Prophets]: Ayat 10-12

Ayat 10. Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Qur'an) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder or an honour for you i.e. honour for the one who follows the teaching of the Qur'an and acts on its orders). Will you not then understand?

Ayat 11. How many a town (community), that were wrong-doers, have We destroyed, and raised up after them another people!

Ayat 12. Then, when they perceived (saw) Our Torment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it.

[Tafseer] We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? How many were the populations We utterly destroyed because of their iniquities, setting up in their places other peoples? Yet, when they felt Our Punishment (coming), behold, they (tried to) flee from it. When they had every chance of repentance and reform, they rejected Allah's Message, and perhaps even put up an open defiance. When they actually began to feel the Wrath coming, they began to flee, but it was too late! Besides, where could they flee to from the Wrath of Allah? Hence the ironical appeal to them in the next verse: better go pack your luxuries and what you thought were your permanent homes! Cf. Christ's saying in the present Gospel of St. Matthew (3:7): "O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the Wrath to come?" 

Hazrat Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.''

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Anbiya' Ayat 10."Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Qur'an) in which there is Dhikrukum, (your Reminder" This Hadith tells the excellence of reciting the Qur'an and acting upon its injunctions. Intercession (in this Hadith) means that the Qur'an will be endowed with the power of speech by Allah and it will request Allah to forgive the sins of its reciters who acted upon its teachings. Allah will accept the request of the Qur'an, as signified.
