Ayat 14. Have you (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH)
not seen those (hypocrites) who take for friends a people upon whom is
the Wrath of Allah (i.e. Jews)? They are neither of you (Muslims) nor of
them (Jews), and they swear to a lie while they know.
Tafseer of Surah Al- Mujadilah Ayat 14. Turnest thou not thy attention to those who turn (in friendship) to such as have the Wrath of Allah upon them? They are neither of you nor of them, and they swear to falsehood knowingly. This refers to the Hypocrites of Madinah who pretended to be in Islam but intrigued with the Jews. By this time the Jews of Madinah and the Jewish tribes around had become actively hostile to Islam, and were being sharply called to account for their treachery. They knew that as Muslims their duty was to refrain from the intrigues of the enemies of Islam and to assist Islam against them.
Hazrat Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Keep only a believer for a companion and let only a pious eat your food". [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2395 and Abu Dawud Hadith # 4832].
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mujadilah Ayat 14. Have you (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) not seen those (hypocrites) who take for friends a people upon whom is the Wrath of Allah" This Hadith forbids Muslims from befriending infidels and stresses that they should establish a bond of friendship and fraternity with the pious persons only. The above Hadith signifies that taking believers for company has good consequences on the Muslim. While feeding only pious people compels the Muslim host to provide only Halal or lawful foodstuff for his household as well as his guests.
