[40].Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) also known as Surah Ghafir [The Forgiver]: Ayat 001-003

১. হা-মীম

Ayat 1. Ha-Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
Ayat 2. The revelation of the Book (this Qur’an) is from Allah the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.
Ayat 3. The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment, the Bestower (of favour), La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), to Him is the final return.

Tafseer of Surah Al Mumin (The Believer) Ayat 01 to 03. Ha Mim2. The revelation of this Book is from Allah, Exalted in Power, Full of Knowledge, and This verse is the same as 39:1, except for the last words describing the attribute of Allah. In S. 39:1, it was "Full of Wisdom", because stress was laid on the wisdom of Allah's Plan in ordering His World. In this Surah the stress is laid on Allah's Knowledge, before which the shallow knowledge of men is vain (40:83). 3.Who forgives sin, accept Repentance, is strict in punishment, and hath a long reach (in all things), there is no god but He: to Him is the final goal. Allah's knowledge is supreme and all-reaching. But there are other attributes of His, which concern us even more intimately; e.g., He forgives sin and accepts our repentance when it is sincere and results in our change of heart and life: but He is also just, and strict in punishment; and so no loophole will be left for Evil except in repentance. And further, all His attributes reach forward to everything: His Mercy, as well as His Knowledge and Justice; His Bounties as well as His Punishments.
Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) used to observe Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan and say, "Seek Lailat-ul-Qadr (Night of Decree) in the odd nights out of the last ten nights of Ramadan.''
[Al-Bukhari Book 03, Chapter 32, Hadith # 234].

Lesson: We learn from this Hadith that Lailat-ul-Qadr occurs in any of the five odd nights - 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th and 29th - of the last ten nights of Ramadan. Its exact date has not been revealed for the reason that people keep themselves awake for prayer for a larger number of nights. Had its date been fixed, people would have kept awake for prayer only on that night. There is a general belief among the scholars that it is fixed, on the 27th night of Ramadan. But this is not correct. Ahadith do not confirm this view.
