[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 33

Ayat 33. And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah’s (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 33. Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says, "I am of those who bow in Islam"? Better in speech: i.e., speaks better counsel; or is more worthy of being listened to. That his word reaches the highest mark of human speech is evidenced by three facts: (1) that he calls all to the Truth of Allah, showing that his thoughts are not centered on himself; (2) every deed of his is righteousness, showing that there is no divergence between his preaching and his conduct; and (3) he completely associates himself with the Will of Allah, showing that he is the full embodiment of Islam. What a fine description of the Prophet!
Hazrat Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.''  [Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 61, Hadith # 545].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 33. And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight" This Hadith tells us excellence of people who learn Quran and then spend their time teaching to others.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 031-033

Ayat 31. "We have been your friends in the life of this world and are (so) in the Hereafter. Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for.
Ayat 32. "An entertainment from (Allah), the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 31. "We are your protectors in this life and in the Hereafter: therein shall ye have all that your souls shall desire; therein shall ye have all that ye ask for!” Protectors": a key-thought for the Ha Mim Surah’s Cf. 41:25, and 41:34 Cf. 21:102, 43:71, 52:22. [Eds.]. 32. "A hospitable gift from One Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful!" Cf. 3:198. Through Allah's infinite Mercy and Forgiveness, they will now be in the position of guests to Host, and will receive unnumbered gifts out of all proportion to their own merits.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who goes to the masjid in the morning or in the evening, Allah prepares for him a place in Jannah whenever he goes to the masjid in the morning and returns from it in the evening.''  [Al-Bukhari Book 01,Chapter 11, Hadith # 631]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 31. "We have been your friends in the life of this world and are (so) in the Hereafter. Therein you shall have (all) that your inner-selves desire, and therein you shall have (all) for which you ask for" This Hadith points out the merit of going on foot to the mosque for Salat, no matter whether one goes in the morning or the evening. In fact, the heart of a Muslim should be attached to mosques and on account of this, he goes there at all the prescribed hours of Salat to perform his Salat in congregation

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 030

Ayat 30. Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (Alone)," and then they Istaqamu , on them the angels will descend (at the time of their death) (saying): "Fear not, nor grieve! But receive the glad tidings of Paradise which you have been promised!

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 30. In the case of those who say, "Our Lord is Allah, and, further, stand straight and steadfast, the angels descend on them (from time to time): "Fear ye not!" (They suggest), "Nor grieve! but receive the Glad Tidings of the Garden (of Bliss), the which ye were promised! The people who succeed in eternal Life are those who recognize and understand the one and only Eternal Reality, that is Allah, and further shape their probationary Lite firmly and steadfastly on the principles of that Truth and Reality. They will have their friends and protectors in the good angels, in contrast to the evil ones, who will have no friendship or protection, but only the reproaches of the Evil Ones.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "If anyone constantly seeks pardon (from Allah), Allah will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from where he expects not.'' [Abu Dawud Hadith # 1518].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat. 30. Verily, those who say: "Our Lord is Allah (Alone)," and then they Istaqamu , on them the angels will descendBy seeking forgiveness, a relationship with Allah is established between man and his Creator. So seeking forgiveness is a very good act. Allah likes those people who, after committing a sin, do not stick to it, but right away seek forgiveness for their sins from Allah. They weep and express sorrow before Allah.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 029

Ayat 29. And those who disbelieve will say: "Our Lord! Show us those among jinns and men who led us astray, we shall crush them under our feet, so that they become the lowest."

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 29. And the Unbelievers will say: "Our Lord! Show us those, among Jinns and men, who misled us: We shall crush them beneath our feet, so that they become the vilest (before all)." It is one of the qualities of sin and all evil, that it wishes to drag down others in its own camp, and rejoices to see them humiliated and disgraced, just as, in the opposite case, the good rejoice to help and honor others and make them happy wherever they can. Cf. 6:112-113.

Hazrat Usamah bin Zaid (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) said, "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and will be cast into Hell, and his intestines will pour forth and he will go round them as a donkey goes round a millstone. The inmates of Hell will gather round him and say: `What has happened to you, O so-and-so? Were you not enjoining us to do good and forbidding us to do evil?' He will reply: `I was enjoining you to do good, but was not doing it myself; and I was forbidding you to do evil, but was doing it myself".
[Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 54, Hadith # 489].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah Ayat 29. And those who disbelieve will say: "Our Lord! Show us those among jinns and men who led us astray, we shall crush them under our feet, so that they become the lowest." This Hadith serves a stern warning for such `Ulama', preachers so called scholars and reformers of the Ummah whose own conduct is contrary to the sermons they give from the pulpit.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 028

Ayat 28. That is the recompense of the enemies of Allah: The Fire, therein will be for them the eternal home, a (deserving) recompense for that they used to deny Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.).

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 28. Such is the requital of the enemies of Allah, the Fire: therein will be for them the Eternal Home: a (fit) requital, for that they were wont to reject Our Sings.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Every one of my followers will be forgiven except those who expose (openly) their wrongdoings. An example of this is that of a man who commits a sin at night which Allah has covered for him, and in the morning, he would say (to people): "I committed such and such sin last night,' while Allah had kept it a secret. During the night Allah has covered it up but in the morning he tears up the cover provided by Allah Himself.''  [Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 95].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah 28. “That is the recompense of the enemies of Allah: The Fire, therein will be for them the eternal home, a (deserving) recompense for that they used to deny Our AyatWe learn from this Hadith that commission of a sin due to human frailties on which one is ashamed but does not like to express is something which might hopefully be forgiven by Allah. In fact, its remission after penitence is almost sure. But to commit a sin openly is totally different because, firstly, the heart of such a person is deprived of the fear of Allah. Secondly, he has no respect and regard for Divine injunctions. Thirdly, such a person usually does not repent his sins. Fourthly, he makes a declaration of breach of Divine injunctions which amounts to inviting His wrath and punishment.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 027

Ayat 27. But surely, Allah shall cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe torment, and certainly, Allah shall requite them the worst of what they used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 27. But Allah will certainly give the Unbelievers a taste of a severe Penalty, and Allah will requite them for the worst of their deeds. Nothing that they can do, however outrageous, will escape its fit punishment. And to reject Allah's Signs is to shut the very door to His Grace and Mercy.

Hazrat Ibn Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Hell will be brought on that Day (the Day of Resurrection) with seventy thousand bridles; and with every bridle will be seventy thousand angels, pulling it". [Muslim Book 40, Chapter 12, Hadith # 6810].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah27. But surely, Allah shall cause those who disbelieve to taste a severe torment,This Hadith deals with the hidden matters relating to the Unseen world. Muslims are ordained by Allah to believe in them. It is wrong to hold them as metaphorical. They are realities but we cannot imagine them.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 026

Ayat 26. And those who disbelieve say: "Listen not to this Qur’an, and make noise in the midst of its (recitation) that you may overcome."

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 26. The Unbelievers say: "Listen not to this Qur´an, but talk at random in the midst of its (reading), that ye may gain the upper hand!" A favorite trick of those who wish to dishonor Revelation is, not only not to listen to it themselves, but to talk loudly and insolently when it is being read, so that even the true listeners may not be able to perform their devotions. They think that they are drowning the voice of Allah: in fact they are piling up misery for themselves in the future. For Allah's voice can never be silenced.

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Ukaz, Mijannah and Dhul-Majaz were markets during the pre-Islamic period. The Companions disliked trading there till the following Ayat of the Noble Qur'an were revealed: "There is no sin on you if you seek the Bounty of your Rubb (during Hajj pilgrimage by trading)...'' (2:198)  [Al-Bukhari Book 02, Chapter 26, Hadith # 822]

Lesson: as mentioned above The Companions of the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) considered trade and commerce during the months of Hajj as sinful because they thought that trade had a sort of resemblance with the bazaars which were arranged on the occasion of Hajj in the pre-Islamic period. Through the Ayah quoted in this Hadith, Almighty Allah removed their misunderstanding. Therefore, trade and commerce on this occasion do not violate the Hajj and Umrah. This is however, only permission. If one wants to earn reward in the Hereafter through his utmost devotion to Allah, it is more meritorious to avoid commercial activities and wholeheartedly concentrate on the remembrance of Allah and His worship.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 025

Ayat 25. And Allah have assigned them (devils) intimate companions (in this world), who have made fair-seeming to them, what was before them (evil deeds which they were doing in the present worldly life and disbelief in the Reckoning and the Resurrection, etc.) and what was behind them (denial of the matters in the coming life of the Hereafter as regards punishment or reward, etc.). And the Word (i.e. the torment) is justified against them as it was justified against those who were among the previous generations of jinns and men that had passed away before them. Indeed they (all) were the losers.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 25. And Allah have destined for them intimate companions (of like nature), who made alluring to them what was before them and behind them; and the sentence among the previous generations of Jinns and men, who have passed away, is proved against them; for they are utterly lost. Just as the idea of happiness in heaven is expressed, not only by individual satisfaction, but by congenial society, so the idea of Punishment in hell is deepened by the fact that Evil will be made to meet evil: those who made sin fair seeming in this life will be there to share in the regrets and mutual recriminations which will make life a burden. In fact, in these Ha Mim verses, the idea of fit companionship for the Good and uncongenial company for the Evil, runs like a thread throughout. They painted in glowing colors the pleasures of sin in the past and the pleasure of sin in the future, thus practicing a double deception, which will now be found out. Jinns: see 6:100. All spirits of wickedness and all men who submitted to them, in the past, were under one common sentence; and future generations who embrace evil will also join them. Cf. 6:128. The echo here of verse 23 above completes the argument from another point of view.

Hazrat Jabir Ibn Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) before sacrificing animal on 10th Zhual Hijjah supplicated these words, "I detaching myself from every one and concentrating on one". "Who created the heavens and the earth, and I am not one of the polytheists "Verily, my Salat (prayer), my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of the Universe ('Alamin all mankind, jinns and all that exists). O Allah (this sacrifice) it comes from you and is given to (sacrifice for) you. In the name of Allah, and Allah is Most Great" He then made sacrifice.  [Abu Dawud and At-Tirmidhi]

Lesson: as mentioned above in This Hadith." Sacrificing animals on 10th, 11th & 12th Zhual Hijjah is conduct furnishes the principle that the reward of sacrificing something for Allah goes with its quality. The more precious the thing sacrificed, the greater its reward will be.
Note: This Dua must be read in Arabic before sacrifice, reading translation in other languages is not recommended;

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 023-024

Ayat 23. And that thought of yours which you thought about your Lord, has brought you to destruction, and you have become (this Day) of those utterly lost!
Ayat 24. Then, if they have patience, yet the Fire will be a home for them, and if they beg for to be excused, yet they are not of those who will ever be excused.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 23. "But this thought of yours which ye did entertain concerning your Lord, hath brought you to destruction, and (now) have ye become of those utterly lost!" 'You now see the situation! We were given for your use and service. You misused us, to your own utter and irretrievable destruction!" Ayat 24. If, then, they have patience, the Fire will be a home for them! and if they beg to be received into favour, into favour will they not (then) be received. If they have patience: there is sarcasm in the meaning. "Let them not be impatient; they will soon find a home in the Fire of Hell! If they ask for grace and forgiveness then, it will be too late."

Hazrat Abu Qatadah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) was asked about the observance of Saum (fasting) on the day of `Arafah. He said, "It is expiation for the sins of the preceding year and the current year.''  [Muslim Book 006, Chapter 33, Hadith # 2603].

Lesson: as mentioned in this Hadith the ninth day of Dhul-Hijjah is called Yaum-Arafah. On this day, pilgrims stop and stand in prayers at Arafat which is the most important ritual of Hajj, so much so that Hajj is deemed incomplete without it. On that day, the pilgrims are engaged in the remembrance of Allah and prayers as that is their most important worship on that day. For this reason, Saum is not desirable for them, but for other people, Saum has a special merit. The importance and merit of this Saum can be judged from the fact that it expiates sins for two consecutive years: the previous year and the current year. But these sins relate only to the minor sins, not the major ones, or become a means of elevation of one's status.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 022

Ayat 22. And you (disbelievers) have not been hiding against yourselves, lest your ears, and your eyes, and your skins testify against you, but you thought that Allah knew not much of what you were doing.

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 22. "Ye did not seek to hide yourselves, lest your hearing, your sight, and your skins should bear witness against you! But ye did think that Allah knew not many of the things that ye used to do! The limbs and faculties will say: "You did not seek to hide your evil from us: in fact you used us for your evil, because we were in your power. Did you not know that Allah knew everything and that our knowledge would be evidence against you?"

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "There is no day on which Allah sets free more slaves from Hell than He does on the Day of `Arafah (The day of Hajj 9th day of Zhual Hijjah).''
[Muslim Book 07, Chapter 77, Hadith # 3126].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Hadith Almighty Allah emancipates most of His slaves, both men and women from the Hell-fire on this great day. Millions of pilgrims, who by virtue of their sincere repentance, try to seek the Pleasure of Allah certainly stand to earn Allah's Pardon for their sins and thereby emancipation from the Hell-fire. May Allah grant us this grace of His.

[41]. Ha-Mim_Al-Sajdah (Prostration) also known as Surah Fussilat [They Are Explained in Detail]: Ayat 021

Ayat 21. And they (disbelievers) will say to their skins, "Why do you testify against us?" They will say: "Allah has caused us to speak, as He causes all things to speak, and He created you the first time, and to Him you are made to return."

Tafseer of Surah Ha-Mim Al-Sajdah (or Surah Fussilat) Ayat 21. They will say to their skins "Why bear you witness against us?" They will say: "(Allah) hath given us speech,- (He) Who gives speech to everything: He created you for the first time, and unto Him were ye to return. A new phase of their existence will now dawn on them. They used to think that if they concealed their evil deeds from the rest of the world, nothing would happen to them! But Allah can give "tongues to trees", and can make every fact in life, known and unknown to the world, contribute to the elucidation of truth and justice. "Speech" on behalf of their senses and faculties should of course be understood figuratively. When we succumb to evil, our limbs and faculties betray us.

Hazrat Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I said: "O Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)! We consider Jihad as the best deed, should we not then go for Jihad?'' The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The best Jihad for you women is Hajj Mabrur (i.e., one accepted by Allah).''  [Al-Bukhari Book 02, Chapter 26, Hadith # 595].

Lesson: This Hadith brings out the following points:
1. Hajj is compulsory once in a lifetime for those who have the means for it.
2. Unnecessary questioning is disliked.
3. Those who believe in Allah and His Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) are required to do what they are ordained and abstain from what they are forbidden.
