Ayat 91.
And (remember) she who guarded her chastity [Virgin Maryam (Mary)], We
breathed into (the sleeves of) her (shirt or garment) [through Allah's
Angel Ruh Jibrael (Gabriel)], and We made her and her son
['Iesâ (Jesus)] a sign for Al-'Alamin (the mankind and jinns).
Ayat 92. Truly! This, your
Ummah [Shariah or religion (Islamic Monotheism)] is one religion,
and I am your Lord, therefore worship Me (Alone). [Tafseer Ibn Kathîr]
Ayat 93. But they have broken up
and differed as regards their religion among themselves. (And) they all shall
return to Us.
[Tafseer]
And (remember) her who guarded
her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a
sign for all peoples. Mary, the mother of Jesus, chastity was her special
virtue: with a son of virgin birth, she and Jesus became a miracle to all
nations. That was the virtue with which they (both Mary and Jesus) resisted
evil. Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am
your Lord and Cherisher: therefore serve Me (and no other). Ummah: this is
best translated by Brotherhood here. "Community", "race", and "nation", and
"people" are words which import other ideas and do not quite correspond to
"Ummah". "Religion" and "Way of Life" are derived meanings, which could be used
in other passages, but arc less appropriate here. Our attention has been drawn
to people of veiy different temperaments and virtues, widely different in time,
race, language, surroundings, history, and work to be performed, but forming the
closest brotherhood as being men and women united in the highest service of
Allah. They pre-figure the final and perfected Brotherhood of Islam. But
(later generations) cut off their affair (of unity), one from another:
(yet) will they all return to Us. Allah's Message was and ever is one; and
His Messengers treated it as one. It is people of narrower views who come later
and trade on the earlier names, that break up the Message and the Brotherhood
into jarring camps and sects (Cf.
23:52-53).
Hazrat Abdullah bin
Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah
[SAWW](PBUH) recited the Words of Allah, the Exalted, and the Glorious, about
Ibrahim (PBUH) who said: "O my Rubb! They have led astray many among mankind.
But whosoever follows me, he verily, is of me". (14:36) and those of `Isa
(Jesus) (PBUH) who said: "If You punish them, they are Your slaves, and if You
forgive them, verily, You, only You, are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise". (5:118).
Then he [SAWW](PBUH) raised up his hands and said, "O Allah! My Ummah, my
Ummah,'' and wept; Allah, the Exalted, said: "O Jibril (Gabriel)! Go to Muhammad
[SAWW](PBUH) and ask him: `What makes you weep?" So Jibril came to him and asked
him (the reason of his weeping) and the Messenger of Allah informed him what he
had said (though Allah knew it well). Upon this Allah said: "Jibril, go to
Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) and say: `Verily, We will please you with regard to your
Ummah and will never displease you".
[Muslim Book 01,
Chapter 85, Hadith
#397].
Lesson : as
mentioned above in Surah Al-Anbiya Ayat 92."your Ummah
[Shariah or religion (Islamic Monotheism)] is one
religion" This Hadith makes two
points clear:
Firstly, the
kindness and mercy which the Prophet
[SAWW](PBUH) had for his Ummah, a full manifestation of which will be seen on
the Day of Resurrection.
Secondly, the love
that Allah has for His Prophet, Muhammad
[SAWW](PBUH). Both these benefits will then go to the advantage of the faithful
Muslims as they will be then blessed with Mercy and forgiveness of Allah. May
Allah include us among them.
