[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 20

Ayat 20. And as for those who are Fasiqun (disbelievers and disobedient to Allah), their abode will be the Fire, every time they wish to get away therefrom, they will be put back thereto, and it will be said to them: "Taste you the torment of the Fire which you used to deny."

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 20. As to those who are rebellious and wicked, their abode will be the Fire: every time they wish to get away therefrom, they will be forced there into, and it will be said to them: "Taste ye the Penalty of the Fire, the which ye were wont to reject as false." Cf. 22:22 . Just as the Garden is a type of Bliss, so is the Fire a type of Penalty and suffering. There will be no getting away from it. What will be the thoughts of those who had earned it? "We used to reject the idea of the Consequences as mere chimera: and now we find it to be true!" What will be their feelings then? How will they like it!
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Everyone of my Ummah will enter Jannah except those who refuse". He was asked: "Who will refuse?'' He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Whoever obeys me, shall enter Jannah, and whosoever disobeys me, refuses to (enter Jannah)".  [Al-Bukhari Book 9, Chapter 92, Hadith # 384]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 20 “those who are Fasiqun (disbelievers and disobedient to Allah), their abode will be the Fire” The word Ummah here stands for the community which accepted the invitation of the Prophet (image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH), that is to say, the people who on his call embraced Islam. Out of this community who follow him faithfully will go to Jannah.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 18-19

Ayat 18. Is then he who is a believer like him who is Fasiq (disbeliever and disobedient to Allah)? Not equal are they.
Ayat 19. As for those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, for them are Gardens (Paradise) as an entertainment, for what they used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 18 and 19. Is then the man who believes no better than the man who is rebellious and wicked? Not equal are they. The Future of the two classes-the Blessed and the Wicked-is described in verses 19-22. Ayat 19. For those who believe and do righteous deeds are Gardens as hospitable homes, for their (good) deeds. A home brings before our minds a picture of peace and happiness. When to it are added honour and hospitality, it adds further to the idea of happiness.
Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "When an infidel accomplishes any good deed, he is rewarded for it in this world; and in the case of a Muslim, Allah stores up his good acts for him in the Hereafter and provides him with subsistence in this life due to his obedience.''  [Muslim Book 39, Chapter 11, Hadith # 6739]
Another narration is: Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW] (PBUH) said, "Allah does not wrong a believer a good deed because he is given blessings for it in this world and will be rewarded for it in the Hereafter. But the infidel is given in the world the reward for good deeds, he has performed for the sake of Allah and when he comes to the Hereafter, there is no good deed for which he can be rewarded". [Muslim Book 39, Chapter 11, Hadith # 6740]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 19. “those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, for them are Gardens (Paradise)” The infidels also do in this world many works which are for public welfare, or which come under the category of good deeds. Almighty Allah gives them reward for such good deeds in this world in the form of wealth, sound health, or saving them from some trouble, because Belief is precondition for reward in the Hereafter. Since an infidel is deprived of it, he will also be deprived of their reward in the Hereafter. Thus, we learn that Belief constitutes the basis of every action and is a precondition for the acceptance of any good deed by Allah.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 17

Ayat 17. No person knows what is kept hidden for them (by Allah) of joy as a reward (in Jannah) for what they used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 17. Now no person knows what delights of the eye are kept hidden (in reserve) for them - as a reward for their (good) deeds. Delights of the eye: an idiom for that which pleases most and gives most satisfaction. In our present state we can scarcely imagine the real Bliss that will come to us in the Future.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Allah, the Exalted, has said: `I have prepared for my righteous slaves what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and the mind of no man has conceived.' If you wish, recite: `No person knows what is kept hidden for them of joy as a reward for what they used to do.''' (32:17) [Al-Bukhari Vol. 6, Chapter 60, Hadith # 302].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 17 “No person knows what is kept hidden for them (by Allah) of joy as a reward” About the gifts and pleasures of Jannah, here a Hadith has been stated in the Words of Allah. The subject matter is confirmed from the Verse of the Qur'an given in the text of the Hadith.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 16

Ayat 16. Their sides forsake their beds, to invoke their Lord in fear and hope, and they spend (charity in Allah’s Cause) out of what Allah have bestowed on them.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 16. Their limbs do forsake their beds of sleep, the while they call on their Lord, in Fear and Hope: and they spend (in charity) out of the sustenance which Allah have bestowed on them. Junub: sides, on which men sleep and turn in their sleep: I have translated this "limbs" for shortness. Holy men and women "breathless with adoration" shun soft, comfortable beds, and luxurious sleep. Their limbs are better exercised in offices of devotion and prayer, especially by night. Commentators specially refer this to Prayers called Tahajjud, which are offered after midnight in the small hours of the morning, in twelve Rak'as. In Fear and Hope: in spiritual fear lest their dedication to Allah should not be sufficiently worthy to be accepted, and a spiritual longing or hope that their shortcomings will be overlooked by the Mercy of Allah. And their adoration is not shown only in Prayer, but also in practical Service and Charity, out of whatever gifts they may have received from Allah.

Hazrat Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I came to the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) while he was reciting (Surat At-Takathur 102): "The mutual rivalry (for hoarding worldly things) preoccupies you. Until you visit the graves (i.e., till you die). (102:1-8) (After reciting) he (PBUH) said, "Son of Adam says: `My wealth, my wealth.' Do you own of your wealth other than what you eat and consume, and what you wear and wear out, or what you give in Sadaqah (charity) (to those who deserve it), and that what you will have in stock for yourself.''  [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 42, Hadith # 7061].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 16 “they spend (charity in Allah’s Cause) out of what Allah have bestowed on them”This Hadith enjoins if a person given wealth, he or she should spend it in way liked by Allah because it is this Sadaqah which will be a valuable treasure in the Afterlife. Whatever else he or she consumes in this world, will finish or rot in this world and will be of no avail in Hereafter.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 15

Ayat 15. Only those believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), who, when they are reminded of them fall down prostrate, and glorify the Praises of their Lord, and they are not proud.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 15. Only those believe in Our Signs, who, when they are recited to them, fall down in adoration, and celebrate the praises of their Lord, nor are they (ever) puffed up with pride. In adoration: Sujjadan, or in a posture of prostration, expressive of deep humility and faith. This is the keyword of the Surah, which bears the title of Al Sajdah. All the Signs of Allah lead our thoughts upwards towards Him, and when they are expounded, our attitude should be one of humble gratitude to Allah. At this passage it is usual to make a prostration.
Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said: "Glorify your Lord in Ruku` (bowing posture) and exert yourself in supplication in prostration. Thus your supplications are liable to be accepted.''  [Muslim Book 004, Chapter 37, Hadith # 970].

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "A slave becomes nearest to his Rubb when he is in prostration. So increase supplications while prostrating.''
[Muslim Book 004, Chapter 37, Hadith # 979]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 15. “those believe in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), who, when they are reminded of them fall down prostrate” Both the Ahadith mentioned above, evidently show that there is greater possibility of acceptance of an invocation which is made in prostration. Therefore, one must do it in the voluntary Salat.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 14

Ayat 14. Then taste you (the torment of the Fire) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours, (and) surely! Allah too will forget you, so taste you the abiding torment for what you used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 14. "Taste ye then - for ye forgot the Meeting of this Day of yours, and We too will forget you - taste ye the Penalty of Eternity for your (evil) deeds!" Cf. 7:51. "Forget" here is in the sense of "to ignore deliberately, to reject with scorn". In the sense of mistake or defect of knowledge it is inapplicable to the All-Perfect Being, for we are expressly told, "My Lord never errs, nor forgets": 20:52.
Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death; and the foolish person is the one who subdues himself to his temptations and desires and seeks from Allah the fulfillment of his vain desires".  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2459]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 14. “taste you (the torment of the Fire) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours” This Hadith highlights the importance of the accountability of one's self. Mere desires which are not coupled with practical efforts are of no avail because Allah grants reward on good deeds and not on yearnings and desires which are not supported by noble actions.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 13

Ayat 13. And if Allah had willed, surely! Allah would have given every person his guidance, but the Word from Allah took effect (about evildoers), that Allah will fill Hell with jinn and mankind together.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 13. If Allah had so willed, Allah could certainly have brought every soul its true guidance: but the Word from Me will come true, "I will fill Hell with Jinns and men all together." Could evil have been averted? Certainly everything is in Allah's power. If it had been His Will and Plan, He could have created a world in which there would have been no choice or will in any of His creatures. But that was not His Will and Plan. In the world as we see it, man has a certain amount of choice and free will. That being so, He has provided Signs and means of instruction for man, in order that man's will may be straight and pure. A necessary corollary will be Punishment for the infractions of His Law. That Punishment must come to pass, for Allah's Word is true and must be fulfilled Cf. 11:119, and7:18, and see last note. Jinns are the evil spirits that tempt men, and the men who will suffer punishment will be those who have succumbed to their temptations.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The (Hell) Fire is surrounded with all kinds of desires and passions, while Jannah is surrounded with adversities.''  [Muslim Book 40, Chapter 01, Hadith # 6779].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 13. “Allah took effect (about evildoers), that Allah will fill Hell with jinn and mankind together” The way to Hell is littered with these evils. When a person crosses them, it is an indication that he has entered into Hell. On the other side exists a series of grief’s and calamities, Islamic injunctions and obligations (the compliance with which is often irksome for man) impede his way to Jannah. When a person endures them with patience he, in fact, overcomes those obstacles and becomes eligible for Jannah.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 12

Ayat 12. And if you only could see when the Mujrimun (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, etc.) shall hang their heads before their Lord (saying): "Our Lord! We have now seen and heard, so send us back (to the world), we will do righteous good deeds. Verily! We now believe with certainty."

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 12. If only thou couldst see when the guilty ones will bend low their heads before their Lord, (saying:) "Our Lord! We have seen and we have heard: Now then send us back (to the world): we will work righteousness: for we do indeed (now) believe." In life on the new plane, there will be no room for deception or self deception. The most hardened sinner will see the truth and the justice of the Day of Account. He will wish he could be sent back, but it will be too late. The world as we know it will have already passed away.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  Hazrat Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: A young Jewish boy who was in the service of the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) fell ill. The Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) went to visit him. He sat down by his head and said to him, "Embrace Islam.'' The little boy looked at his father who was sitting beside him. He said: "Obey Abul-Qasim (i.e., the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH)).'' So he embraced Islam and the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) stepped out saying, "Praise be to Allah Who has saved him from Hell-fire.''
[Muslim, Book 07, Chapter 70, Hadith # 561]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 12. “send us back (to the world), we will do righteous good deeds. Verily! We now believe with certainty." Herein, the example of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) inspires us to visit even a sick disbeliever and invite him to accept Islam. Besides, the Hadith tells that the company of the virtuous does bear fruit and that we should continue to hope that the heart of a disbeliever will turn to Allah at any moment. Furthermore, we come to believe that parents, though not clinging to the right way, may tell their offspring to pursue the truth.

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 11

Ayat 11. Say: "The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls, then you shall be brought to your Lord."

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 11. Say: "The Angel of Death, put in charge of you, will (duly) take your souls then shall ye be brought back to your Lord." If death is certain, as it is, and this life by itself in no way satisfies our instincts and expectations, we may be sure that the agency which separates our soul from our bodies will bring us into the new world. If we believe in a soul at all the very foundation of Religion—we must believe in a Future, without which the soul has no meaning.
Hazrat Abu Said Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "When a dead body is placed on a bier and men carry it on their shoulders, if the deceased was pious, it (the corpse) will say: `Take me in haste'; but if he was not, it will say (to its bearers): `Woe to it. Where are you taking it?' Everything except man hears its voice. Had a human being heard its voice, he would have surely died".
[Al-Bukhari, Book 02, Chapter 23, Hadith # 400]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 11 “The angel of death, who is set over you, will take your souls, then you shall be brought to your Lord” The speech of a dead is a matter of the realm of the Unseen (or Al-Ghaib) which is mentioned in this Hadith. A deceased person will certainly say what has been disclosed here. A Muslim must have absolute faith in it. Almighty Allah is certainly capable of endowing the power of speech on a deceased person as he does speak with the angels (Munkar and Nakir) when they come to the dead in the grave and question him. This Hadith is intended to induce people to virtues so that after death, one has not to say: "Woe to me! Where are you taking me?". One should spend the life in such a manner that after death when he is taken to the graveyard for burial, he should be in a position to say: "Hasten to take me to my grave so that I can enjoy Divine blessings there".

[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 10

Ayat 10. And they say: "When we are (dead and become) lost in the earth, shall we indeed be recreated anew?" Nay, but they deny the Meeting with their Lord!

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 10. And they say: "What! when we lie, hidden and lost, in the earth, shall we indeed be in a Creation renewed? Nay, they deny the Meeting with their Lord. Cf. 13:5. It has been the cry of Materialists and Sceptics through the ages not only to bound their horizon with this brief life, but to deny dogmatically that there can be a future life. Here "they" refers to those "who give little thanks" to Allah, mentioned in the last verse. The argument used against them is: if Allah can produce such a wonderful creation the first time, why can He not make it again? That points to the possibility: our own general inner hope and expectation of a future life, coupled with Faith in Allah's work, is the ground of our certainty.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "Between the two Blowing of the Trumpet there will be an interval of forty.'' The people said, "O Abu Hurairah! Do you mean forty days?'' He said, "I cannot say anything.'' They said, "Do you mean forty years?'' He said, "I cannot say anything.'' They said, "Do you mean forty months?'' He said, "I cannot say anything. The Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) added: Everything of the human body will perish except the last coccyx bone (end part of the spinal cord), and from that bone Allah will reconstruct the whole body. Then Allah will send down water from the sky and people will grow like green vegetables'.''  [Al-Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Number 457].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 10. “When we are (dead and become) lost in the earth, shall we indeed be recreated anew?
1. When Israfil blows the Trumpet the first time, by Allah's Leave, all those who are in the heavens and on earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah will. This will be the first Blowing. Then, it will be blown a second time, they will become alive and will emerge from their graves. These Blowing are known as the `Blowing of Fainting and Rising'. As regard the interval between these two Blowing, the narrator of the narration, Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him), could not say anything when he was asked about it; as he himself did not know it. But in other narrations the interval has been mentioned as forty years.
2. The earth eats away the whole body of humans except the bodies of the Prophets. However, only the end part of the spinal cord remains intact. How it remains intact is known to Allah, but from it mankind will be created again.
3. Bodies will rise from the earth as vegetation springs out from the earth after the rainfall.
