[32]. Surah As-Sajdah [The Prostration]: Ayat 14

Ayat 14. Then taste you (the torment of the Fire) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours, (and) surely! Allah too will forget you, so taste you the abiding torment for what you used to do.

Tafseer of Surah Al Sajdah (The Prostration) Ayat 14. "Taste ye then - for ye forgot the Meeting of this Day of yours, and We too will forget you - taste ye the Penalty of Eternity for your (evil) deeds!" Cf. 7:51. "Forget" here is in the sense of "to ignore deliberately, to reject with scorn". In the sense of mistake or defect of knowledge it is inapplicable to the All-Perfect Being, for we are expressly told, "My Lord never errs, nor forgets": 20:52.
Hazrat Shaddad bin Aus (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "A wise man is the one who calls himself to account (and refrains from doing evil deeds) and does noble deeds to benefit him after death; and the foolish person is the one who subdues himself to his temptations and desires and seeks from Allah the fulfillment of his vain desires".  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2459]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah As-Sajda Ayat 14. “taste you (the torment of the Fire) because of your forgetting the Meeting of this Day of yours” This Hadith highlights the importance of the accountability of one's self. Mere desires which are not coupled with practical efforts are of no avail because Allah grants reward on good deeds and not on yearnings and desires which are not supported by noble actions.
