[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]: Ayat 32

৩২. যখন তাদেরকে মেঘমালা সদৃশ তরংগ আচ্ছাদিত করে নেয়, তখন তারা খাঁটি মনে আল্লাহকে ডাকতে থাকে। অতঃপর তিনি যখন তাদেরকে স্থলভাগের দিকে উদ্ধার করে আনেন, তখন তাদের কেউ কেউ সরল পথে চলে। কেবল মিথ্যাচারী, অকৃতজ্ঞ ব্যক্তিই আমার নিদর্শনাবলী অস্বীকার করে।

Ayat 32. And when a wave covers them like shades (i.e. like clouds or the mountains of sea­water), they invoke Allah, making their invocations for Him only. But when Allah SWT brings them safe to land, there are among them those that stop in the middle, between (Belief and disbelief). But none denies Our Signs except every perfidious ungrateful.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 32. When a wave covers them like the canopy (of clouds), they call to Allah SWT, offering Him sincere devotion. But when Allah has delivered them safely to land, there are among them those that halt between (right and wrong). But none reject Our Signs except only a perfidious ungrateful (wretch)! Cf. 7:29. Unlike the people mentioned in the last verse, who constantly seek Allah's help and give thanks for His mercies by using them aright and doing their duty, there is a class of men whose worship is merely inspired by terror. When they are in physical danger-the only kind of danger they appreciate, in a storm at sea, they genuinely think of Allah. But once the danger is past, they become indifferent or wish to appear good while dallying with evil. See next verse. They halt between two opinions. They are not against good, but they will not eschew evil. They are a contrast to those who "constantly persevere and give thanks". But such an attitude amounts really to "perfidious ingratitude".

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) was speaking to us when, a bedouin came and asked him: "When will the Last Day be?'' The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) continued his talk. Some of those present thought that he had heard him but disliked the interruption and the other said that he had not hear him. When the Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) concluded his speech he asked, "Where is the one who inquired about the Last Day?'' The man replied: "Here I am.'' The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "When the practice of honoring a trust is lost, expect the Last Day.'' He asked: "How could it be lost?'' He replied, "When the government is entrusted to the undeserving people, then wait for the Last Day.''  [Al-Bukhari Vol-1, Book 3, Hadith # 56].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 32. “But none denies Our Signs except every perfidious ungrateful” Here a very important sign of the nearness of the Day of Judgment has been mentioned: The affairs of the world will be in the hands of wicked and undeserving people. The sinners and wicked people will become the leaders of the world. The preaching pulpits would also be occupied by people who would be greedy and ignorant. They will be devoid of piety and abstinence.
