Ayat 197. Is it not a sign to them that the learned scholars (like Hazrat
Abdullah bin Salam (RA) who embraced Islam) of the Children of Israel knew it
(as true)?
Ayat 198. And if We had revealed
it (this Qur'an) unto any of the non-Arabs,
Ayat 199. And he had recited it
unto them, they would not have believed in
it.
Tafseer
of Ayat 197 to 199. Is
it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as
true)? Many
of the Jewish learned
scholars recognized the Prophet's SAWW PBUH Message as a
Message from Allah, e.g., Hazrat Abdullah ibn Salam (RA) and Mukhayriq. The
latter was a man of property, which he left for Islam. (There were also
Christian monks and learned men who recognized the Prophet's PBUH mission.)
Had
We revealed it to any of the non-Arabs, And had he recited it to them, they
would not have believed in it. The
turn of Arabia having come for receiving Allah's Revelation, as was foretold in
previous Revelations, it was inevitable that it should be in the Arab tongue
through the mouth of an Arab. Otherwise it would have been unintelligible, and
the Arabs could not have received the Faith and become the vehicles for its
promulgation as actually happened in history.
Hazrat Aamir
bin Sad bin Abi Waqqas narrated from his father Hazrat Saad bin Abi Waqqas (May
Allah be pleased with him) reported & said, I have never heard the The
Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) saying about anybody walking on the earth that
he is from the people of Paradise except Hazrat Abdullah bin Salam (May Allah be
pleased with him). The following Verse was revealed in Surah Al-Ahqaf (Ayat 10)
concerning him: " Say: "Tell me! If this (Qur'an) is from Allah, and you deny
it, and a witness from among the Children of Israel (Abdullah bin Salam )
testifies that this Qur'an is from Allah [like the Taurat (Torah)], so he
believed (embraced Islam) while you are too proud (to believe)." Verily! Allah
guides not the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers and
wrong-doing). (46.10) [Al-Bukhari Book 05, Chapter 58, Hadith
#
157].
Lesson : as
mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shuara Ayat 197."Is it not a sign to
them that the learned scholars (like Abdullah bin Salam who embraced Islam) of
the Children of Israel knew it (as true)?" This
Hadith also highlights the merits of Ahlul-Kitab means
the people of the Scriptures, that is the Jews and the Christians. This Hadith
has an inducement for them that if they embrace Islam, they will be entitled to
a reward.
