[43]. Surah Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments): Ayat 001-004

Ayat 1. Hâ-Mîm. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur’an, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings].
Ayat 2. By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Qur’an).
Ayat 3. We verily, have made it a Qur’an in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions).
Ayat 4. And Verily, it (this Qur’an) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfouz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom.

Tafseer of Al Zukhruf (The Gold Adornments) is revealed in Makkah and contained 89 Ayah’s, Ayat 1. Ha Mim Abbreviated Letters: Ayat 2. By the Book that makes things clear,- Ayat 3. We have made it a Qur´an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). Cf. 42:7, Ayat 4. And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. Cf. 3:7, n. 347; and 13:39. The Mother of the Book, the Foundation of Revelation, the Preserved Tablet (al Lauh Mahfouz, 85:22), is the core or essence of Revelation, the original principle or fountainhead of Allah's Eternal and Universal Law. From this fountainhead are derived all streams of knowledge and wisdom, that flow through Time and feed the intelligence of created minds. The Mother of the Book is in Allah's own Presence, and its dignity and wisdom are more than all we can think of in the spiritual world.
Hazrat Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.''  [Muslim Book 04, Chapter 133, Hadith # 1757].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al Zukhruf Ayat 4. And Verily, it (this Qur’an) is in the Mother of the BookThis Hadith is extremely important for the reason that it advises Muslims to live like family members. It says that one does not like to subject one's own son, brother, etc., to suppression, nor leaves him helpless in trouble, but helps him when he is in need of it, endeavors to relieve him of hardship and admonishes him when he does anything wrong. Almighty Allah is pleased with such behavior and gives him best reward for it in this world and the next.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 053

Ayat 53. (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path). The Path of Allah, to Whom belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. Verily, all the matters at the end go to Allah (for decision).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 53. The most comprehensive description of the Straight Way is that it is the Way of Allah, the Way of the Universal Law; for Allah is the source, center, and goal of all things in heaven and earth. Everything goes back to Him. According to our own understanding we make our own laws, our own standards, and our own institutions. But the ultimate test of their validity or authority is Allah's Will, as revealed to us by His Revelation.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "If anyone calls others to follow right guidance, his reward will be equivalent to those who follow him (in righteousness) without their reward being diminished in any respect, and if anyone invites others to follow error, the sin, will be equivalent to that of the people who follow him (in sinfulness) without their sins being diminished in any respect".
[Muslim Book # 06, Chapter 34, Hadith # 6470].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 53. “indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path). The Path of Allah” Invitation' and `Call' stand to mean here that someone induces others to virtue or seduces to sin by means of his speech or action. We come to know from this Hadith that one who becomes a medium for either of them is given a reward or punishment respectively by Allah (SWT).

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 052

Ayat 52. And thus Allah have sent to you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) Ruhan (an Inspiration the Quran, and a Mercy) of Our Command. You knew not what is the Book, nor what is Faith? But Allah have made it (this Qur’an) a light wherewith Allah guide whosoever he wills. And verily, you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) are indeed guiding (mankind) to the Straight Path (i.e. Allah’s religion of Islamic Monotheism).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 52. And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee: thou knew not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith; but We have made the (Qur´an) a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the Straight Way, Before the receipt of his mission in his fortieth year, the Prophet, though a man of steadfast virtue and purity and unflinching in his search for Truth (see C. 22-23), was yet unacquainted with Revelation in the highest sense of the term and with the certainty that comes from perfected Faith, or realized nearness to Allah. Ruh, which I have here translated Inspiration has also been understood by some Commentators to refer to the angel Gabriel, the vehicle of Revelation. The Light of the Qur'an made all things clear to man, and to the world. The Qur'an and the inspired Prophet who proclaimed it, are here identified. They were a Guide to men, showing the Straight Way. This Way is described in various ways: for example, see 1:6, and n. 22; 18:1-2, and 90:11-18.
Hazrat Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur'an and teaches it.''   [Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 61, Hadith # 545].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 52.”Allah have made it (this Qur’an) a light wherewith Allah guide whosoever he wills’’ This Hadith tells us excellence of people who learn Quran and then spend their time teaching to others.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 051

Ayat 51. It is not given to any human being that Allah should speak to him unless (it be) by Inspiration, or from behind a veil, or (that) He sends a Messenger to reveal what He wills by His Leave. Verily, He is Most High, Most Wise.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 51. It is not fitting for a man that Allah should speak to him except by inspiration, or from behind a veil, or by the sending of a
Messenger to reveal, with Allah’s permission, what Allah wills: for He is Most High, Most Wise. This leads us on to the higher spiritual meaning of verses 49-50, as leading up to verses 51-53. Man is but a speck in Allah's creation. His growth and family relationships are not by any means comparable to Allah's creative acts, whose various stages are referred to in 2:117, 6:94, and 6:98. That being so in the mysteries of man's daily life, how much more profound is the contrast between man and Allah in the apprehension of the higher spiritual problems concerned with Revelation? How can man be fit to speak to Allah? He is not fit. But there are three ways in which Allah, in His infinite Mercy, communicates with man, as described in verses 51-53. Allah is Most High, Most Wise: man is, in spite of his high destiny, often the lowest of the low (95:5). Yet Allah, out of His infinite Mercy and Grace, has bestowed His Revelation on man. How does it come about? Three ways are mentioned: (1) Wahy, Inspiration: (2) from behind a veil; and (3) by the sending of a Messenger: see the notes following. Wahy, Inspiration, is interpreted to be of two kinds: (1) a suggestion thrown by Allah into the heart or mind of man, by which man understands the substance of the Message, whether it is a command or prohibition, or an explanation of a great truth; and (2) verbal or literal inspiration, by which the actual words of Allah are conveyed in human language. Behind a veil: not of course a material veil, but the mystic veil of Light. (R). Sahih Muslim relates a tradition that the Prophet said: "His veil is Light: were He to withdraw it, then would the august splendors of His countenance surely consume everything that comes within His Sight." Messenger: Rasool the angel Gabriel, through whom the revelations were given to the Prophet. These spiritual visions, conveying the message of Revelation, are the basis of the Qur'an.

Hazrat Abu Musa Al-Ashari (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The similitude of one who remembers his Rubb and one who does not remember Him, is like that of the living and the dead.'' [Muslim Book 04, Chapter 121, Hadith # 1706]

Lesson: Lack of remembrance of Allah is akin to death. When a person dies, he is unable to do anything. Similarly, a person who does not remember Allah goes so far from Him that he cannot do anything which can benefit him.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 049-050

Ayat 49. To Allah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills. He bestows female (offspring) upon whom He wills, and bestows male (offspring) upon whom He wills.

Ayat 50. Or He bestows both males and females, and He renders barren whom He wills. Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 49 and 50. To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. He creates what He wills (and plans). He bestows (children) male or female according to His Will (and Plan), Verses 49-50 deal, in their ordinary meaning, with Allah's creative power replete with knowledge and continued purpose, contrasted with man's instincts and groping’s after knowledge. The mystery of sex and parenthood is referred to in a new light With reference to children, a parent is often spoken of as the "author" of their being. The growth of population and the proportion of males and females in it have various sociological and psychological implications; yet how little do parents really know about them? The knowledge of science as regards the determination of sex in the embryo is practically nothing. Even if advancing knowledge threw light on what may be called the mechanical aspects of the question, the profounder problems touched by it are beyond the reach of man. Yet they are not governed by chance. Allah has a meaning and purpose in all things, and His power is complete to carry out His purpose. Ayat 50. Or He bestows both males and females, and He leaves barren whom He will: for He is full of Knowledge and Power. To parents themselves it is a mystery why a male or female child is given at any birth, or how the balance of the two sexes is made up in a family or in large groups of mankind, or why in some cases the womb is barren and the would-be parents are denied the joys and responsibilities of parenthood. But each individual human soul is precious in the Plan of Allah, and all these variations, besides their reactions on parents and on society, have a purpose to fulfil in the large Plan of Allah.

Hazrat Nawwas bin Sam ‘an (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I asked Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) about virtue and sin, and he said, "Virtue is noble behavior, and sin is that which creates doubt and you do not like people to know about it.''  [Muslim 32, Chapter 03, Hadith # 6195]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 50. “Verily, He is the All-Knower and is Able to do all things" An important principle enshrined in this Hadith says that courtesy is a virtue, because a refined mind cultivates good habits, performs good deeds, and shuns all that is bad and corrupt. Also, a simple and understandable principle is laid down about sin. Man feels the pricking of conscience over every bad deed and is also afraid of the reproach of fault-finders, provided he has not reached the lowest point of moral depravity. But a seared conscience is least disturbed even by a heinous and deadly sin or by public censure. We can understand it by the example of man's smelling sense. If it is not dead, man can feel a stink and repugnant odour. But a long association with a dung heap robs away one's smelling sense and feeling of refuse.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 048

Ayat 48. But if they turn away (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) from the Islamic Monotheism, which you have brought to them). We have not sent you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) as a Hafiz (protector) over them (i.e. to take care of their deeds and to recompense them). Your duty is to convey (the Message). And verily, when We cause man to taste of Mercy from Us, he rejoices thereat, but when some ill befalls them because of the deeds which their hands have sent forth, then verily, man (becomes) ingrate!.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 48. If then they run away, We have not sent thee as a guard over them. Thy duty is but to convey (the Message). And truly, when We give man a taste of a Mercy from Ourselves, he doth exult thereat, but when some ill happens to him, on account of the deeds which his hands have sent forth, truly then is man ungrateful! The warning is now given, that men may repent and do good, and pray for Allah's Mercy and Grace. If the warning is not heeded or is rejected, the prophet of Allah is not responsible for bringing about the Penalty or for forcing people to come to the right Path. He is not a guard set over them to free them from the need of exercising their limited free will. (R). Cf. 30:36. It is a sad reflection that men, when they receive some gift out of Allah's Mercy, exult in their good fortune and attribute it to some merit in themselves, instead of to the Grace and Mercy of Allah, thus missing the real lesson of Life. On the other hand, when they are in trouble, due to their own errors and shortcomings, they fall into despair and blame Allah, instead of blaming themselves. This is rank ingratitude. So they miss the true lesson of Life in that case also.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: reported: When this Verse was revealed: "And warn your tribe (O Muhammad image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) of near kindred". (26:214) Messenger of Allah image001.jpg[SAWW](PBUH) called the Quraysh; when they gathered, he said to them: "O sons of `Abd Shams; O sons of Kaab bin Lu'ai, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of Murrah bin Kaab, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of `Abd Manaf, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O sons of `Abdul-Muttalib, rescue yourselves from the Fire! O Fatimah, rescue yourself from the Fire, for I have no power (to protect you) from Allah in anything except that I would sustain relationship with you".  [Muslim Book 01, Chapter 87, Hadith # 399].
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 48. “We have not sent you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) as a Hafiz (protector) over them (i.e. to take care of their deeds and to recompense them). Your duty is to convey (the Message).1. This Hadith tells us that lineage in the Hereafter will not help anybody. So much so that even one's relationship with Messenger of Allah (PBUH) shall not carry any weight on that day. The only thing that will then help in salvation will be one's good deeds. People for whom the Prophet (PBUH) and pious men will intercede will be believers with some sins in their account and not the disbelievers devoid of Faith and good actions. Neither will anybody intercede for the infidels, nor will the infidels find salvation. 2. In preaching religion, priority must be given to one's own close relatives. They deserve it more than anyone else, and for this reason Divine injunction should be first of all conveyed to them. 3. Even if a Muslim's relatives are pagans and polytheists, their rights of kinsmen and the demands of "maintaining the ties of kinship'' enjoined by Islam must be fulfilled. The first and foremost demand of their rights is that they should be invited to the right path so that they will be saved from Hell-fire.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 047

Ayat 47. Answer the Call of your Lord (i.e. accept the Islamic Monotheism, O mankind, and jinns) before there comes from Allah a Day which cannot be averted. You will have no refuge on that Day nor there will be for you any denying (of your crimes as they are all recorded in the Book of your deeds).

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 47. Hearken ye to your Lord, before there comes a Day which there will be no putting back, because of (the Ordainment of) Allah. That Day there will be for you no place of refuge nor will there be for you any room for denial (of your sins)!  The Day of Judgment is inevitable. Allah has ordained it, and it cannot in any way be put back. At Judgment no one can escape the consequences of his crimes or deeds. And no one can disavow them or deny them, or by any chance pretend that they do not apply to him.

Abu Saeed Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) used to seek protection against the evil of jinn and the evil eyes till Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Naas were revealed. After they were revealed, he took to them for seeking Allah's protection and left everything besides them.  [At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2058].

Lesson:  Like men, jinn’s have also good and bad elements among them. Almighty Allah has endowed them with such power that if they want they can, with the Will of Allah, harm human beings. This is the reason mischievous jinn’s harm people. Similarly, influence of the evil eye is also true. What it means is that if a person looks at someone with greed and envy, the evil effects of his look will reach the person viewed, and because of that he has to suffer some loss or trouble or accident. For this reason, the Prophet (PBUH) would seek the protection of Allah against the jinn’s and the evil eye and pray in his own words for it, saying: "I seek Your protection against jinn’s and evil eyes of the people.'' After the revelation of the Surah Al-Falaq and An-Naas (last two Surah of the Quran) he started reciting them because these were revealed for this purpose. These Surah are also called "Al-Mu`awwidhatain'' which mean two Surah which provide protection. It is, therefore, very useful to seek the protection of Allah by reciting them.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 046

Ayat 46. And they will have no Auliya' (protectors) to help them other than Allah. And he whom Allah sends astray, for him there is no way.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 46. And no protectors have they to help them, other than Allah. And for any whom Allah leaves to stray, there is no way (to the Goal). The argument begun in verse 44 of this Surah is here rounded off. If once men finally cut themselves off from Allah's guidance and care, they will have no protection whatever. All their false objects of worship will only mislead them further and further. How they will wish the fact blotted out when they are in sight of Judgment, and vainly wish for time to be reversed! They will be in the Fire, while the men whom they despised and rejected will have reached the final Goal! For them there will be no such way!'
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "The religion (of Islam) is easy, and whoever makes the religion a rigour, it will overpower him. So, follow a middle course (in worship); if you can't do this, do something near to it and give glad tidings and seek help (of Allah) at morn and at dusk and some part of night". [Al-Bukhari Book 01, Chapter 02, Hadith # 038]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 46.And he whom Allah sends astray, for him there is no way. Besides moderation in worship, this Hadith enjoins that such times should be fixed for worship when one is fresh so that one feels pleasure in performing it. But this principle is for optional and voluntary prayers only. Obligatory Salat are to be performed at the prescribed times only.

[42]. Surah Ash-Shura [The Consultation]: Ayat 045

Ayat 45. And you will see them brought forward to it (Hell) made humble by disgrace, (and) looking with stealthy glance. And those who believe will say: "Verily, the losers are they who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection. Verily, the Zalimun [i.e. Al-Kafirun (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness and in His Messenger, polytheists, wrong-doers, etc.)] will be in a lasting torment.

Tafseer of Surah Al Shura (Consultation) Ayat 45. And thou wilt see them brought forward to the (Penalty), in a humble frame of mind because of (their) disgrace, (and) looking with a stealthy glance. And the Believers will say: "Those are indeed in loss, who have given to perdition their own selves and those belonging to them on the Day of Judgment. Behold! Truly the Wrong-doers are in a lasting Penalty!" They were very arrogant in their probationary life. Now will they be humbled to the dust. And they will be in utter despair and misery. They will not be able to see the favour and good things of the other life (Cf. 20:124-126). Even their misery, which will face them as a terrible Reality, they will only be able to look at askance, so thoroughly cowed will be their spirit. This will be their thought, and their realized experience: 'after all, any troubles and sorrows, any persecutions and taunts which they suffered in the life of probation from the enemies of truth, were of no consequence; the real loss was that revealed at the Judgment at the restoration of true values; the wicked and the arrogant have lost their own souls, and have brought to perdition all who attached themselves to them and followed their evil ways; and this Penalty is one that will endure! How much more real it is!'
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said,  used to say: "Allahumm-aslih li diniyalladhi huwa `ismatu amri, wa aslih li dunyaya-llati fiha ma`ashi, wa aslih li akhirati-llati fiha ma`adi, waj`alil-hayata ziyadatan li fi kulli khair, waj`alil-mauta rahatan li min kulli sharrin (O Allah, make my religion easy for me by virtue of which my affairs are protected, set right for me my world where my life exists, make good for me my Hereafter which is my resort to which I have to return, and make my life prone to perform all types of good, and make death a comfort for me from every evil).'' [Muslim Book 35, Chapter 17, Hadith # 6565]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ash-Shura Ayat 45. “And those who believe will say: "Verily, the losers are they who lose themselves and their families on the Day of Resurrection” This Hadith contain a very comprehensive prayer which simply means: "O Allah! Help me spend all my life in complete devotion to You, doing what You like and avoiding what You dislike as Allah knows what is best for us as Allah is Best of the planners.''
