[25].Surah Al-Furqan [The Criterion]: Ayat 37-39

৩৭. নূহের সম্প্রদায় যখন রসূলগণের প্রতি মিথ্যারোপ করল, তখন আমি তাদেরকে নিমজ্জত করলাম এবং তাদেরকে মানবমন্ডলীর জন্যে নিদর্শন করে দিলাম। জালেমদের জন্যে আমি যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি প্রস্তুত করে রেখেছি।
৩৮. আমি ধ্বংস করেছি আদ, সামুদ, কপবাসী এবং তাদের মধ্যবর্তী অনেক সম্প্রদায়কে।
৩৯. আমি প্রত্যেকের জন্যেই দৃষ্টান্ত বর্ণনা করেছি এবং প্রত্যেককেই সম্পুর্ণরূপে ধ্বংস করেছি। 
  

Ayat 37. And Nun's (Noah) people, when they denied the Messengers Allah drowned them, and Allah made them as a sign for mankind. And Allah have prepared a painful torment for the Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc).

Ayat 38. And (also) 'Ad and Thamud, and the dwellers of Ar-Rass, and many generations in between.

Ayat 39. And for each of them Allah put forward examples (as proofs and lessons, etc.), and each (of them) Allah brought to utter ruin (because of their disbelief and evil deeds).

[Tafseer] of Ayat 37. And the people of Noah,- when they rejected the messengers, Allah drowned them, and made them as a Sign for mankind; and prepared for (all) wrong-doers a grievous Penalty;- The stories of Noah, of the prophets of 'Ad and Thamud (and of other prophets), in the reactions of their communities to their teaching are told in 26:105-159, below. Here they are just mentioned to illustrate how little respect past ages had for their prophets and teachers of Truth. But Allah's Truth did not suffer: it was the blind rejecters of spiritual Truth who were wiped out. Tafseer of Ayat 38. As also ´Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them, its are not clear as to who the "Companions of the Ross" were. The root meaning of "Rass" is an old well or shallow water-pit. Another root connects it with the burial of the dead. But it is probably the name of a town or place. The "Companions of the Rass" may well have been the people of Shuaib PBUH, as they are here mentioned with 'Ad,Thamud, and Lot 's people, and the people of Shuaib are mentioned in a similar connection in 26:176-190 and in 11:84-95. Shuaib PBUH was the prophet of the Madyan people in the northwest of Arabia , where many old wells are found. There is however, an oasis town al Rass in the district of Qasim in Middle Najd, about thirty-five miles southwest of the town of 'Unayzah, reputed to be the central point of the Arabian Peninsula, and situated midway between Makkah and Basrah. in Ayat 39. To each one Allah set forth Parables and examples; and each one We broke to utter annihilation (for their sins).

Hazrat Mauwiyah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen.''   [Al-Bukhari Book 01,Chapter 03, Hadith # 071]

 

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Furqan Ayat 39."for each of them Allah put forward examples (as proofs and lessons, etc.)" Knowledge and understanding of Deen (religion) here stands for the understanding of the Qur'an and Hadith, religious injunctions, and knowledge of the lawful and the unlawful. This Hadith highlights the excellence of knowledge and the fact that it is a sign of Allah's Help to the person who possesses it and acts upon it.
