Ayat 49. That Allah may give life thereby to a dead
land, and Allah give to drink thereof many of the cattle and men that Allah
created.
Ayat 50. And indeed Allah distributed it (the great knowledge
Al-Quran as rain water) amongst them in order that they may remember
the Grace of Allah, but most men refuse (or deny the Truth or Faith of Quran and
its Ayats) and accept nothing but disbelief or ingratitude.
[Tafseer] of Ayat 49.
That
with it Allah may give life to a dead land, and slake the thirst of things Allah
created, cattle and men in great numbers. The
whole cycle of water-sea, clouds, rain or hail or snow, rivers, and sea again-is
a remarkable illustration of the processes of nature making Allah's providence
visible to us. The salts of the sea sanitize and purify all the filth that pours
into it. Water action, in the form of rain, frost, glaciers, rivers, lakes,
etc., is responsible for the building up and configuration of the crust of the
earth, and is the chief agent in physical geography. A parched desert quickly
comes to life under the action of water. All drinking water, whether derived
from rivers, canals, lakes, reservoirs, springs, wells, or waterworks of any
kind, are ultimately traceable to rain. The connection of life with water is
intimate. The physical basis of life itself, protoplasm, is, in great part,
water: see 25:54 below. Tafseer of Ayat 50.
And
Allah distributed the water and the knowledge of Al-Quran amongst them, in
order that they may celebrate (our) praises, but most men are averse (to aught)
but (rank) ingratitude.
The water is distributed all over the world, in order that all life may receive
its support, according to its needs. In 25:48-50, we have the argument of
contrasts stated in another way. Water is life, and is made available to sustain
life all over the world: this is a physical fact which all can see. But water is
also the symbol of spiritual life, whose sustaining principle is the Will of
Allah as made known to us through
Revelation. It sometimes comes to us in our inward or spiritual storms. Many
violent unsettlements of the spirit are but heralds of the refreshing showers of
spiritual understanding mat come in their wake. They purify our souls, and
produce spiritual Life even where there was a parched spiritual desert before.
They continue to sustain us in our normal spiritual Life out of the reservoirs
of Allah's Revelation, which are open to all, and well-distributed in time and
space. The universality of distribution is again referred to in the following
verse. 3108 In contrast to Allah's abounding Mercy is man's base ingratitude:
another symbolic contrast between Light and Darkness, or Water and
Drought.
Hazrat Abu Musa
(May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah
[SAWW](PBUH) said, "The similitude of guidance and knowledge with which Allah
has sent me is like a rain which has fallen on some ground. A fertile part of
earth has absorbed water and brought forth much grass and herbs. Another part,
which is solid, held the water and Allah benefits men thereby, who drank and
gave others to drink, and used it for irrigation. But some of it has fallen on a
portion of sandy land which neither retains the water nor produces herbage. Such
is the likeness of the man who understands the religion of Allah and who gets
benefit of what Allah has sent me with; he learns and teaches others. It is also
the likeness of the man who neither raises his head on that account (meaning he
does not benefit from what the Prophet
[SAWW](PBUH) was sent with) nor accepts Allah's Guidance with which I am
sent".
[Al-Bukhari Book 01,Chapter 03, Hadith #
079]
Lesson : as
mentioned above in Surah Al-Furqan Ayat 49."Allah may give life
thereby to a dead land" In this Hadith the guidance
and knowledge which was sent to mankind through the Prophet (PBUH) is compared
to the rain which is beneficial, because this knowledge resuscitates the dead
hearts as does the rain to a barren land. One who makes use of this knowledge is
likened to a good soil, and one who acquires this knowledge and imparts it to
others but does not put it into practice is considered akin to a hard land which
holds water and other people utilize it. A person who neither learns it nor acts
upon it is like a desolate land which neither holds water nor produces anything.
Such a person is the worst of all because he neither himself benefits from it
nor lets others make use of it. This Hadith induces one to acquire knowledge,
impart it to others, put it into actual practice and warns people from
neglecting this duty.
