Ayat 35. Therefore be patient (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH)
as did the Messengers of strong will and be in no haste about them
(disbelievers). On the Day when they will see that (torment) with which
they are promised (i.e. threatened, it will be) as if they had not
stayed more than an hour in a single day. (O mankind! This Qur’an is
sufficient as) a clear Message (or proclamation to save yourself from
destruction). But shall any be destroyed except the people who are Al-Fasiqun (the rebellious, disobedient to Allah).
Tafseer of Surah Al-Ahqaf Ayat 35. Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers of inflexible purpose; and be in no haste about the (Unbelievers). On the Day that they see the (Punishment) promised them, (it will be) as if they had not tarried more than an hour in a single day. (Thine but) to proclaim the Message: but shall any be destroyed except those who transgress? All spiritual work proceeds in its own good time. We should never be impatient either about its success or about the punishment which is bound to come for those who oppose it or wish to suppress it. The inevitable punishment is spoken of as the Punishment promised. It will come so soon and so suddenly that it will appear as if there was not the delay of a single hour in a single day! Time is a great factor in our affairs in this world, but it hardly counts in the spiritual Kingdom. The Preacher's duty is to proclaim the Message in unmistakable terms. If any human beings come in the way, it will be to their own destruction; but none but rebellious transgressors will be punished. There is always hope and forgiveness for repentance and amendment.
Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I can still recall as if I am seeing the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH)
resembling one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed his
blood, while he wiped blood from his face, he said: "O Allah! Forgive my
people, because they certainly do not know".
[Al-Bukhari 09, Chapter 84, Hadith # 63].
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahqaf Ayat 35. Therefore be patient (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) as did the Messengers of strong will and be in no haste about them (disbelievers)” It mentions the refined character and compassion of the Prophets which has an important lesson for those who preach righteousness. They should be always prepared to face hardships involved in inviting people to the right path and, instead of retaliation, forgive their audience and pray for their guidance. These noble qualities are extremely important for those who are devoted to preach religion.
