[47] Surah Muhammad: Ayat 016

Ayat 16. And among them (Hypocrites) are some who listen to you (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) till, when they go out from you, they say to those who have received knowledge: "What has he said just now? Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed, and they follow their lusts (evil desires).

Tafseer of Surah Muhammad image001.jpg Peace be upon him] Ayat 16. And among them are men who listen to thee, but in the end, when they go out from thee, they say to those who have received Knowledge, "What is it he said just then?" Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed, and who follow their own lusts. Cf. 10:42, and 6:25, 36. The case here referred to is that of the Hypocrites who came to the assemblies of Islam in Madinah and pretended to listen to the Prophet's teaching and preaching. But their heart and mind were not in learning righteousness, but in carping at things they saw and heard. When they got out, they knew nothing of the teaching, but on the contrary asked foolish and ignorant questions, such as might raise doubts.

Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "I do not think that so-and-so understands anything of our Faith.'' [Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 73, Hadith # 93]
Al-Bukhari said: Hazrat Al-Laith bin Saad (May Allah be pleased with him), who is one of the narrators of this Hadith, said: The two men mentioned by the Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) in this Hadith were hypocrites (i.e., they revealed Faith and concealed disbelief).

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Muhammad image001.jpg Peace be upon him] Ayat 16. “they say to those who have received knowledge: "What has he said just now? Such are men whose hearts Allah has sealed, and they follow their lusts (evil desires). Hypocrites are also people of mischievous and doubtful conduct. It is, therefore, not only permissible but necessary to make people aware of their real position so that people become cautious about them and their religious and worldly life may remain safe from their machinations.
