Ayat 2. That
Allah may forgive you your sins of the past and the future, and
complete His Favour on you, and guide you on the Straight Path;
Tafseer of Surah Al-Fath Ayat 1. Verily We have granted thee a manifest Victory: This is best referred to the Treaty of Hudaibiyyah, for which see the Introduction to this Surah. By this Treaty the Makkan Quraysh. after many years of unrelenting conflict with Islam, at length recognized Islam as (what they thought) an equal power with themselves. In reality the door was then opened for the free spread of Islam throughout Arabia and thence through the world. 2. That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfil His favour to thee; and guide thee on the Straight Way; 40:55, and Cf. 47:19. Any mistakes of the past were now rectified, and any future ones prevented by the free scope now offered, by the act of the Quraysh Pagans themselves, to the recognition and free promulgation of Islam. 3. And that Allah may help thee with powerful help. The results were achieved by tranquility, calmness, and cool courage among the 1400 to 1500 unarmed men who accompanied the Prophet to Hudaibiyyah and who were threatened with violence by the excited Quraysh leaders of Makkah.
Hazrat Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) said: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH)
said, "Grant shelter to him who begs for it in the Name of Allah, give
to him who begs in the Name of Allah, accept the invitation of him who
invites you, and requite him who does a favour to you, but if you are
unable to requite him, go on praying for him till you are sure that you
have requited him adequately.'' [Abu Dawud Hadith # 1672 and An-Nasa'i Hadith # 2568].
Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al-Fath Ayat 3. And that Allah may help you with strong help. (1). Since Allah is the Real Creator and Maker of all things and events, these should without any exception be attributed to Him Alone. If a reference is made to the cause or causes which occasion an incident or event, it is permissible but to ascribe them entirely to some factor or factors is the conduct of polytheists and amounts to Shirk and Kufr. (2). People of the Period of Ignorance used to ascribe the rain which occurred at the appearance or setting of some star, to that star and would thus accept it as the real cause of it. In this Hadith, such ascription has been regarded as Kufr and Shirk.
