[54] Surah Al-Qamar [The Moon]: Ayat 004-008

Ayat 4. And indeed there has come to them news (in this Qur’an) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil),
Ayat 5. Perfect wisdom (this Qur’an), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not,
Ayat 6. So (O Muhammad image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) withdraw from them. The Day that the caller will call (them) to a terrible thing.
Ayat 7. They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad,
Ayat 8. Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day."

Tafseer of Surah Al-Qamar (The Moon) Ayat 4. There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), The stories of the sins of past generations having been visited with exemplary punishments were already in their possession, and should, if they had been wise, have opened their eyes and checked them in their mad career of sin. Five of these stories are again referred to later in this Surah by way of illustration. 5. Mature wisdom;- but (the preaching of) Warners profits them not. 6. Therefore, (O Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, for a time godlessness seems to triumph, but the triumph is short-lived. And in any case there is the great Reckoning of the Day of Judgment. The angel whose voice will call at the Resurrection and direct all souls. Cf. 20:108-111. 7. They will come forth, their eyes humbled – from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, At one stage in the invasion of locust swarms, the locusts are torpid and are scattered abroad all over the ground. I have seen them on railway tracks in ' Iraq, crushed to death in hundreds by passing trains. The simile is apt for the stunned beings who will rise up in swarms from their graves and say, 'Ah! woe unto us! Who had raised us up?" (36:52). 8. Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!” the Unbelievers will say.

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allahimage001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) said, "Between the two Blowing of the Trumpet there will be an interval of forty.'' The people said, "O Abu Hurairah! Do you mean forty days?'' He said, "I cannot say anything.'' They said, "Do you mean forty years?'' He said, "I cannot say anything.'' They said, "Do you mean forty months?'' He said, "I cannot say anything. The Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) added: Everything of the human body will perish except the last coccyx bone (end part of the spinal cord), and from that bone Allah will reconstruct the whole body. Then Allah will send down water from the sky and people will grow like green vegetables'.''  [Al-Bukhari Volume 6, Book 60, Number 457].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Qamar Ayat 7. They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad. 1. When Israfil blows the Trumpet the first time, by Allah's Leave, all those who are in the heavens and on earth will swoon away, except him whom Allah will. This will be the first Blowing. Then, it will be blown a second time, they will become alive and will emerge from their graves. These Blowing are known as the `Blowing of Fainting and Rising'. As regard the interval between these two Blowing, the narrator of the narration, Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him), could not say anything when he was asked about it; as he himself did not know it. But in other narrations the interval has been mentioned as forty years. 2. The earth eats away the whole body of humans except the bodies of the Prophets. However, only the end part of the spinal cord remains intact. How it remains intact is known to Allah, but from it mankind will be created again. 3. Bodies will rise from the earth as vegetation springs out from the earth after the rainfall.
