Ayat 44. So they threw their ropes and their sticks, and
said: "By the might of Firaun (Pharaoh), it is we who will certainly win!"
Ayat 45. Then
Mûsa (Moses) threw his stick, and behold, it swallowed up all the falsehoods
which they showed!
Ayat 46. And
the sorcerers fell down prostrate.
Ayat 47.
Saying: "We believe in the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all
that exists).
Ayat 48. "The
Lord of Mûsa PBUH (Moses) and Harun PBUH (Aaron)."
Ayat 49.
[Firaun (Pharaoh)] said: "You have believed in him before I give you leave.
Surely, he indeed is your chief, who has taught you magic! So verily, you shall
come to know. Verily, I will cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides,
and I will crucify you all."
Tafseer
of Ayat 45 to 49. Then
Moses threw his rod, when, behold, it straightway swallows up all the falsehoods
which they fake! The
sorceress ropes and rods seemed to have become serpents, but the rod of Moses
was mightier than all of them and quickly swallowed them up. So truth is more
powerful than tricks and will expose and destroy them. Then
did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration, Saying:
"We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, they said "The
Lord of Moses and Aaron." in anger Said
(Pharaoh): "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? surely he is your
leader, who has taught you sorcery! but soon shall ye know! "Be sure I will cut
off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will cause you all to die
on the cross!" The
sorcerers knew that they had met something very different from their tricks.
Allah's spirit worked on them and they professed the True God. As they
represented the intelligence of the community, it may be presumed that they
carried the intelligence of Egypt with them and perhaps some of the commonalty,
who were impressed by the dramatic scene! Hence Pharaoh's anger, but it is the
beginning of his
decline!
Hazrat Abdullah bin
Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I can still recall as if I am
seeing the Messenger of Allah
[SAWW](PBUH) resembling one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed
his blood, while he wiped blood from his face, he said: "O Allah! Forgive my
people, because they certainly do not know".
[Al-Bukhari 09, Chapter 84, Hadith #
63].
