[46]. Surah Al-Ahqaf [The Curved Sand Hills]: Ayat 007

৭. যখন তাদেরকে আমার সুস্পষ্ট আয়াতসমূহ পাঠ করে শুনানো হয়,  তখন সত্য আগমন করার পর কাফেররা বলে, এ তো প্রকাশ্য জাদু।

Ayat 7. And when Our Clear Verses are recited to them, the disbelievers say of the truth (this Qur’an), when it reaches them: "This is plain magic!"

 
Tafseer of Surah Al-Ahqaf Ayat 7. When Our Clear Signs are rehearsed to them, the Unbelievers say, of the Truth when it comes to them: "This is evident sorcery!" When the truth is actually brought to their doors, they call it sorcery! The indictment of him here comprises four counts: (1) they ridicule the teaching of Truth; (2) instead of profiting by admonition, they pay no heed; (3) when Allah's Signs are brought home to them, they ridicule them as much as they ridiculed the teaching of Truth: and (4) when they have to acknowledge incontestable facts, they give them false names like "sorcery", which imply fraud or something which has no relation to their life, although the facts touch the inner springs of their life intimately (Cf. 46:7) and, when they are admonished, pay no heed, and, when they see a Sign, turn it to mockery, and say, "This is nothing but evident sorcery! 

 

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said, "He who acquires a branch of the knowledge of astrology, learns a branch of magic (of which he acquires more as long as) he continues to do so.''

Lesson: In this Hadith, astrology has been regarded a part of magic. In Islam the learning of magic has been held equivalent to infidelity. Thus, it is evident that in Islam, astrology and soothsaying are highly dangerous, and learning them is a great sin. Astrology here stands for that pseudo-science on the basis of which future events are predicted with reference to the movements of stars. There is another science called astronomy by means of which timings of sunrise and sunset are calculated. This branch of science, however, is a genuine science because it is based on experiment and observation.
