[50] Surah Qaf [Qaf]: Ayat 019-021

Ayat 19. And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!"
Ayat 20. And the Trumpet will be blown, that will be the Day whereof warning (had been given) (i.e. the Day of Resurrection).
Ayat 21. And every person will come forth along with an (angel) to drive (him), and an (angel) to bear witness.

Tafseer of Surah Qaf Ayat 19 to 21. And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!" What is stupor or unconsciousness to this probationary life will be the opening of the eyes to the spiritual world: for Death is the Gateway between the two. Once through that Gateway man will realize how the things which he neglected or looked upon as remote are the intimate Realities, and the things which seemed to loom large in his eyes in this world were shadows that have fled. The things we wanted to avoid are the things that have really come to pass. Both Good and Evil will realize the Truth now in its intensity. Ayat 20. And the Trumpet shall be blown: that will be the Day whereof Warning (had been given). The next stage will be the Judgment, heralded with the blowing of the Trumpet. Every soul will then come forth. Ayat 21. And there will come forth every soul: with each will be an (angel) to drive, and an (angel) to bear witness. Several interpretations are possible, leading to the same truth that the Judgment will be set up; the Record will be produced; the good and bad deeds will speak for and against; and complete justice will be done, each act leading to its own due fruit. (1) The (angel) to drive and the (angel) to bear witness may be the Recording Angels of the left and the right (verse 17); or (2) it may not be angels, but the evil deeds will drive like task-masters, and the good deeds will bear witness for the soul on trial; or (3) his misused limbs and faculties will drive him to his doom, while his well-used limbs and faculties will witness for him.

Hazrat Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) came out during the night and observed (TARAWEEH) prayer in the mosque and some of the people prayed along with him. When it was morning the people talked about this and so a large number of people gathered there. The Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) went out for the second night, and they (the people) prayed along with him. When it was morning the people began to talk about it. So the mosque thronged with people on the third night. He (the Holy Prophet image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) ) came out and they prayed along with him. When it was the fourth night, the mosque was filled to its utmost capacity but the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) did not come out. Some persons among then cried:" Prayer." But the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) did not come to them till he came out for the morning prayer. When he had completed the morning prayer, he turned his face to the people and recited Tashahhud (I bear testimony that there is no god but Allah and I bear testimony that Muhammad is His Messenger) and then said: Your affair was not hidden from me in the night, but I was afraid that (my observing prayer continuously) might make the night (TARAWEEH) prayer obligatory for you and you might be unable to perform it.  [Muslim Book 004, Chapter 117 Hadith Number 1667].

Lesson: It is well to keep the priorities of things mentioned in the Hadith as one gets the reward of following the Sunnah remembrance of Allah day and night.
